  1. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=68060&hilit=fuel+pump Just found this thread, answered my questions. Cheers. Will post up how I get on.
  2. thanks chaps I am pretty sure its the fuel pump. Whats the score with replacing it? simple for a novice? i suspect not!!! what about cost? cheers
  3. No heated seats (I wish ;-)) I'll check out the fuel pump, thanks Mark. Any more suggestions?
  4. Just to add before somebody suggests, I have no headunit in it at the mo so it isnt the speakers :)
  5. Guys Bit of a strange one...Got a buzzing noise coming from the VR6, it sounds electrical but im unsure. The symptoms are as follows: - It happens constantly when moving and when stationary. Turn off the ignition it stops. - Seems to be coming from outside the car not inside (although you can hear it in) as louder outside. - Seems to be coming from underneath at the rear (i know this is the engine section but not sure where else to ask, mods please move if needed). - I notice the pitch changes very very slightly as you turn headlights on/off. - Car and everything on it is running fine. Any ideas? Really stumped. Cheers
  6. I'd just like to add that I've just moved from HIC to Chris Knott and the service and price have been excellent. Cheers
  7. No idea why it was scrapped Mike, I'm not sure by whom either. The guy from the specialist I sold it too, knew his stuff, especially Mk1 Golfs so I am certain all the good bits would have found a home.

  9. Mike I bought H432TVV off a chap called James in Southampton back in 2007, i believe he bought it from you. I sold it in 2008 to a friend at a VW specialist in Essex in 2008 to make way for a VR6. I have just checked through my work and unfortunately the car was scrapped in June 2009 :( It was a great car, I actually PM'd you when i got in regarding the brembos (which were fantastic btw). Should be some pics of it in my old posts with my private plate on it. Cheers
  10. i love the look of this, one of my favourites on here :) if you ever wanna sell it dude, let me know  enjoy your trip aswell!

  12. Andy, Good to meet you today at German Swedish today (got a new battery for the VR6). Had a quick look over the white valver when I left and have to say it looks awesome. Thanks for the bodyshop recommendation aswell. All the best. Pete
  13. Turns out it was a knackered CV joint. All sorted now. Cheers for the replies guys.
  14. i think it has had new wishbone bushes but that was earlier this year. It does need wheel bearing done soonish...is this a likely cause?
  15. Guys This week the C (VR6 Auto) has started creaking occasionally at low speeds (under 10mph). It happens going forward and reverse and whilst turning or going straight, but not every time (basically when im pulling away or parking). The noise isn't constant and it varies in volume. I have done a search and others have suggested it could be: Clutch (not really applicable to me!) Driveshaft/CV joints Subframe needs tightening. The cold weather! Just needs a bit of lubrication! You're worrying for nothing they all do that! I know this is pretty vague, but is there anything else it may be before I get it checked out. Much appreciated. Pete
  16. Results of multimeter showed Engine running 11.2 Engine off 12.0 Engine off, car alarmed 11.8 Clearly the readings were too low but the alarm was not drawing enough power to cause a problem. On further investigation we found a thin blue wire resting on the connection to the starter motor, this was getting very hot and shorting out. We repaired this and cable tied it back. As a result the reading went up to 14.1! Im hoping this has sorted the problem. Any thoughts guys?
  17. Im getting the battery hooked up to a multimeter tonight so will post up the results tomorrow and take it from there. matt-the-mussel - is there any register to check or is it just a case of checking paperwork and with previous owners?
  18. Guys I've recently had a new alternator fitted as the old one was knackered, i discovered this when my battery had run flat one morning. Since then the battery is now being charged but is flat again if left connected overnight. The battery looks like quite an old one and the previous owner only only did a few thousand miles in around 2 years. Im thinking it could be dead as it was fully drained and ive charged it a few times and jumped it, which I believe doesnt do it much good! I have had it checked at Halfords any they said its ok. I think Im planning to replace the battery anyway, especially with winter approaching. However I wanted to see if there is anything else that could be draining the battery before i replace it. Ive done a search on this already. so Ive checked the boot light and thats ok. I have a laserline 996v3 alarm and a Sony headunit fitted, could one of these be draining the power in such a sort amount of time? I know there is a live feed from the alarm but what about the headunit? I also have a uprated headlight loom fitted, i use the car daily but I do mostly short journeys (under 15miles) if thats any help. Sorry for the long winded explanation, im bit of a novice when it comes to electrics. Cheers
  19. Following on from my service and additional work at JKM I can thoroughly recommend them. Although not the cheapest the service, communication and quality of work were all excellent. Pete
  20. Looking to get my VR6 serviced here and wondered if anyone had experience of these guys? I have posted this on a local VW forum and got some good feedback...but just wondered if anyone else on here has used them. http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/about.htm or can anyone recommend anyone else. cheers
  21. i agree with you comments Jim. A few parts of the trim were a little cheap in feel, but overall a nice place to be, the seats were comfy and very supportive. Id be interested to know what they were like over a long distance. Agree with the rear visability too, it is poor as the rear windows are tiny and the headrests seem to fill the small rear view mirror. Our VW guy is very positive about it doing well as they have had alot of interest both in retail and fleet, especially with the gap in their range until the Mk6 GTi is launched.
  22. Some pics of our demo. Apologies for the hijack Jim, I agree with you, superb car.
  23. Jim, I work for a leasing company and have just gone for a spin in a Scirocco, also in Rinsing Blue, so im interested in your thoughts. First of all I think it looks much better in the flesh and many of colleagues agreed. As for driving it, the engine is an absolute peach, pulling well in every gear with almost no lag, makes a good noise too. I've recent driven an Astra VXR, Volvo C30 T-5 and Civic Type-R and lthough im probably bias ;-) Id take a Scirocco everytime. Very impressed. I got a pic of it so ill post it up shortly. Cheers Pete
  24. Hi Mike I had the car, but have since sold it on to a non forum member as I now have a VR6. However, there was already a reciept for the engine rebuild in the paperwork. Cheers
