I don't find commuting in a C boring - I actually take a 15 mile trip to work traffic free rather than a 10 mile trip through traffic.......... so I'm in favour of water.................. in the meantime however, I think LPG is the answer........ -

I'd heard that the Yanks had worked out how to run an engine on water and it doesn't surprise me that the government are trying to suppress it - after all, they seem hell bent on being the world No.1 at everything, including Pollution, so a pollution free fuel would really go against the grain........ -
What size tank did you go for? The spare wheel shape or larger model? Is the multi point more expensive ???
-
When I bought my C I was told that the speedo head unit had been changed. The history shows it should read around the 130k mark but the replacement unit used only shows 76k. Is it possible to wind it on ? ? ?

G reg 16V - stolen recovered has covered 235,000 and engine and box still fine. VR6 - 130,000

REMOVING MOMO MILLENIUM STEERING WHEEL
MysticBlueStorm replied to MysticBlueStorm's topic in Interior
Thanks Guys -
This might seem a silly question to some, but I bought my C with this steering wheel and I don't want to damage it trying to take it off incorrectly. There are 8 or so small silver allen bolts around the centre but I beleive them to be for show. The black centre badge is the horn but I'm not sure if this needs to be levered out, so if anyone can help. Cheers

Anyone breaking a VR6 or know of one.......
MysticBlueStorm replied to MysticBlueStorm's topic in Suppliers Forum
cheers mate - I'll ask about the V belt as well then............ -
GSF supply the rad for 109 + VAT and knowing how long it took me to change my last one I think 50 is reasonable for labour.........
-
.......radiator has just sprung a leak yesterday so picked up a new one today (supplied by GSF today - nice one) and have now realised that the fan motor bearing has gone and the V belt between both fans is missing. Anyone in Sussex seen a VR6 in a breakers near you with these parts on ??? Cheers

Thanks Guys....................

Thanks Jim - been on the site and it costs upgrades but I was looking for cost of service / std rebuild etc. Also, what symptoms do you get when it needs doing as apposed to just doing it at the mileage and what are consequences of not doing it? Cheers (why am I considering a G60 instead of my VR6, just cos I like Yellow?)
-
Tried the search option and apologies if there's a thread already (please point me to it if there is) but considering buying a G60 and I know the superchargers need sorting periodically................... what does it cost? And what is the mileage intervals for the work? Thanks in advance.

fla If you use the thin chrome handled engineering style screw drivers (you need to bend the end to get it to locate in the screw head correctly - see new switch to note angle), you can get thin nosed pliers on the screw driver handle to start the screw off - I had the same problem.
-
Just replaced the switch tonight - took me nearly 2 hours to get the old screw out - did it in the end sitting in the seat - you can see the screw by having your head in the region of the gear stick and I also used the small thin chrome screw driver but had to bend it. Car now has a black switch as there was a white one in there which was faulty (didn't know that was a gsf) - thanks again for all the advice - I would hav been lost without this forum and I've only had the car 3 weeks. Cheers Lads

Thanks for the thread - having problems in the last week, having to wiggle the key to get it to start. After a fiddly job changing the bonnet release cable, looks like I have a fiddlier one this weekend with the ignition. Thanks for the guide Henny - hope it sorts it.
-
All done - sorted it yesterday.............took a while I must admit. Use pliers to hold outer cable, lodge pliers against bracket supporting release handle and pull handle as normal to flip bonnet. Undo the small nut holding the cable end by the n/s headlamp and withdraw the the inner cable into the car (note the guide holes that the inner cable runs through - for this I removed the plastic cover above the radiator for ease of access). You will need to remove the 2 pozi drive screws holding the release handle in place inside the car for ease of removal of the cable and replacement of the clip. Once the clip is replaced, feed the inner cable through the clip and back into the outer cable. The outer cable locates under the clip so ensure that the end is firmly in place. I did have trouble getting the end of the cable to come out the other end but it came out in the end with a bit of persuasion. Feed the inner cable back through the guide holes and ensure it is taught before tightening the retaining nut. Thanks for the previous advice............
