Cheers thats not so bad then ! I know what your saying but what exactly will he do to fix the leak? I dont want him recking anything else ! I think I got my phone numbers mixed up and called the wrong company as i swear the man on the phone said it was going to have the seal fixed around the screen! I had so many numbers around the place getting quotes. The cheapest I found was 200 squid but i did ask questions about what screen was to be fitted. I bit of a mix up on my behalf ! Do you really think its worth giving him a call it was done in August last year?

How can you tell if its a pilkington ? Had mine replaced by some chap called Motorglass and i im very unhappy with it ! First of all I wanted the original style seal/gutter around the screen.After leaving my house when finished it had this universal rubber type s**t ! A couple of days later I noticed the seal wasnt really stuck well around the frame and very poor finish ! I called the bloke to come and sort it but what i really wanted him to do is take it out and fit a proper one! This wasnt going to happen so off he went after squigging a bit more sealent around the egde. Everything was fine for a few weeks intill the first bit of heavy rain and you guest it ,water coming in from the drivers top corner! :mad: You would probably say did you call him back ? well the answers no because it only happens in heavy rain and id rather he didnt come back and get load of sealent everywhere ! He got enough squigged into the cabin as it is ! So what I have dicided to do is wait intill I insure fully comp in May and break the screen and pay the excess! The only problem is if he has fitted this tacky aftermarket screen has he got rid of any reusable trims/seals etc ?

Just found the same problem with mine ! Pulled up one day and noticed the smell . Popped the bonnet and located the smell at those pipes,wiggled them slightly and they weeped fuel! I dont suppose any of you lot have fitted some aftermarket fuel line braided say ? What do you think about doing this ? 70 squids is alot when ive just spent 700 on suspension parts !

Has anyone fitted the bearings with out any problems?

I have access to a press! Everything apart from the bearings is now fitted by myself in rain ! DETERMINATION ! :x May be i sould of changed the bolts a couple were a bit rusty ,would of if i thought of it prior being a perfectionist and all !

Hello again! Just to let you know I have recently installed my koni TA H&R set up! Fiirst impressions very good ! Not too crashy far more grounded and responsive . After fitting them I noticed the noise was still there that i was hoping to be top mounts ! :? So my next assumption was worn wishbones! I decided to go the hole hog and order up : 2x complete wishbones 2x ball joints 1x arb link 2x track rod ends 2x front wheel bearings All for a very reasonble price of £177 delivered from AVS I have fitted everything now apart from the bearings because my dad advised it could be a nightmare and said i sould maybe get the front hubs! The car now feels even more responsive and the steering is sharper and tight.The rattle noise has gone but i still feel sight movement in the steering which could be norm ,or i could be a over perfectionist ? It does still have what i would say a wheel bearing type noise but it could be the tyres as they are just legal and pit in the centres! Getting to the point I am planning on driving up to stealth to get the geommetry done,so i dont really want to be taking the susspension apart again after parting with £94inc ! Do i spend another 50 odd quid on some hubs and fit the bearings or get the tyres and stealth it ? Does any one know if your tyres have to be in perfect nick for the 4 wheel alignment ? Cheers ! :)

I agree prefer cubby hole ! A piller looks crap aswell, bits of extra plastic stuck on :pukeright:

Sorry Im getting confused a bit ,you dont mean I have to snip around the dust cover ! I looked at the instructions that came with the konis and it looks like its saying to cut five mm off the cover if you taken the c clip a knotch up on the rear struts, I guess it lowers it 5mm . I was thinking 35mm off the bump stops only ? I didnt know whether to give vince or someone at Stealth a call but I know how some companys are about given out free advice! What do you think?

kevHaywire I thought you would of cut it off the top because of the dust cover screws to the bottom of the bump stop ? Also if your using different spring plates than what was standard on the car does this mean that the top cap/plate are different? Would I have to replace these aswell or be alright with the originals ? Thanks for any help guys ! :D

Hello there happy Christmas and a happy new year and all! Just preparing to build up my struts complete with all new bits so no need to strip the old! I am just a little worried about the front spring plates. I know the suspension swaps at 94 and mines a 94 VR6. With out taking the old one off yet i cant see whats on the car . I ordered two types of spring plates from VAG for the front and the back ones. Can someone out there who has maybe done this before let me know if this is the right part number ? (1HO 412 341) That would put my mind at rest ! Also I understand you have to chop off what ever the drop is off the bump stops . I think the drop is about 35mm Im I right ? So would I cut 35mm off the front and rears ? And also am I correct in saying 35 off the bottom of the fronts and top of the rears ? Sorry for all these questions I know Im probably thinking right I just want to be sure ! Any help would be great cheers !!!

Hi there Ive had my VR about six months now and have spent alot of money on mods of such ,but have enjoyed spending every penny ! I am collecting a few engine mods at the minute to fit early spring time which include.. 264 CAMS P AND P INLET MANIFOLD P AND P TB I wanted to find out the standard unmodded bhp of it first before i tinker with it to see if its all been worth while. I here that places do rolling road days where i would think you get dynoed cheaper? Does anyone know of any happening soon or companys that do these special days? What kind of output do you think i would be expecting with these mods with a standard air box K&N panel and standard exhaust ? This would be after a custom remap from stealth ofcourse ! Let me Know :)

Well done mate ,would like to do something like that myself but.... NOT ENOUGH MONEY NOT ENOUGH TIME NO GARAGE OR DRIVE Certainly wouldnt pay someone else to do all the work ,well maybe the wiring!! Again well done ! :)

Yeah ive got spring compressers and my Dads worked for VAG for about 20 years or so ive got help there whether he likes it or not! ha ha Hes never been up for the whole modding thing! My cars a 94 does that mean I dont need the spring plates? Ill probably take a drive up to Stealth when ive fitted the set up before buying a set of new tyres ! I could even leave the suspension intill ive collected and fitted all the engine mods ive got planned > ENLARGED TB , 264 CAMS AND LIFTERS ,PORTED POLISHED INLET MANIFOLDS+HEAT ISOLATION SPACER ,MAGNEX CAT BACK! After everythings finished run it down to stealth and get the suspension set up and a chip and remap NICE !

Getting worried about this a bit ! Front spring caps and what andy was saying about the rears is it all worth it guys ! How do your cars feel with the new setup and any clearance probs ? Gonna take the chin spoiler off for now i think and get the narrower G60/16V one ,what do you reckon? Went to Worthing GSF as the matey said he had the bump stops in stock. when i got there all he had was the f top mounts and bearings,which i already have! :mad: What a waste of time and petrol ! Went on the knowledge base and theres nothing there as its under construction or something! PARTS IVE GOT OR ORDERED SO FAR > 2X FRONT KONI TAS 2X REAR KONI TAS 2X VW TOP MOUNT AND BEARINGS SET OF GREEN H&R SPRINGS PARTS I THINK I NEED> NEW TOP PLATES FRONT ? NEW RUBBER BEARING/ RINGS ETC FOR REAR ? FULL SET OF AFTERMARKET RUBBER BUMP STOPS CUT DOWN 30-35MM WOULD ANYONE LIKE TO ADD ANYTHING FEEL FREE !

Its alright its next weekend so ive got a bit of time to prepare ! Still havent got the rear shocks and h&rs, ordered them today! Here from you soon (NickVR6) !

Hi Going to be replacing my standard setup for koni TAs and h&rs next week end but want to know what else to renew ? Ive got new OE top mounts and bearings but didnt know if its a good idea to change anything on the rear like the rubber spacers etc ? Anyone out there that can give me some advice on this matter ? My cars a 94 vr with about 119,000 on the clock. I tend to like doing a job properly! Do i need to cut down OE bump stops or can i just leave them? Anyone out there that has got this setup and installed or watched it being installed ,give me some advice please ? :)

hello again ! Does your vr6 have a cat still in place with this manifold? I was looking at the raceland six branch on ebay ,but dont know if you can keep the cat ? The raceland one is £220.00 dont know if youve seen it !

Thanks for trying mate ! Probably going for a momo myself, just got to decide what one? The (Team) one looks quiite nice but im not sure intill I see and feel one up ! I know its a fairly small 300m not sure what the standard vr one is havnt measured it yet .Its just i dont really want it any smaller. cheers again! :)
