A couple of weeks ago I got rid of some rust on the underside of the car! It wasnt that bad and Im sure most people wouldnt of bothered, and I wish I never now taking me pretty much all day! It was located on the main frame which you may jack the car from sometimes .It has a large hole either side of the car which I think modern cars now have these plugged with bungs. The water had got up there and got in under the body seal around the edges of the holes. I picked the seal back to expose all the rust and removed with kurust and wire wheel. After removing the rust I primed it with hammerite rust prevention primer and then sealled it with the waxoyl seal stuff ,which collected alot of grit on the motorway home from my parents! Apart from that just a bit under the battery due to leakage from the old one! I dont think rust is a problem with rados! I would just watch out for what milege you go for and ask if the nessary has been carried out e.g (100,000mls chains and tensioners VR6 ) (70,000 miles g lander rebuild G60) etc !

Hi just a bit of advice before I go and fork out on a new starter ! When I start up nearly always from cold the starter stays engaged for a couple of seconds over making a horrible and embaressing noise! Do you think this is starter or ignition switch related ? After it warmed up a little and turned off and started again its fine! Anyone had a simular problem or give any advice cheers?

Looks nice mate ! I think Im going to keep mine more simple with retaining the green switchs heater etc,but changing the dial leds to zenon white and reversing the polarizing film on the leds! A lazy but effective option woulnt you say?

Stealth re-chip - can I use any ron petrol with this?
VRTrickster replied to matth76's topic in Engine Bay
I rate the Tescos 99ron stuff as well you cant grumble at that price! -
Yeah thats what I thought ! Your probably looking at the same place Doherty Racing? I think Im just going to go for it ,I dont think theres going to be a problem! You cant argue with the almost half the price of Shricks new billets not regrinds delivered to your door all the way from america!

Im starting to wonder whether or not he really knew what he was talking about! Surely the cams are the same standard on VRs Euro and American but mapped differently?
-
Year I know Im going to be spending a whole lot more money on it so it better be gratefull !! :)
-
Does anyone know much about cams?
-
maybe thats all we need a more powerful motor that fits ?
-
The pair are matched how does this affect things ?

I am looking to buy a set of 264 inlet 264 exhaust camshafts for my rado from America due to budget. I have been put off a bit by someone saying that they would be no good as they use lower octane fuel than us! I would not have thought this would make a difference, does this mean that the American VR6 cams are different to the Euro spec? Here is the cam spec : 264 .440" 11.17MM INLET 264 .440" 11.17MM EXHAUST Does anyone know the spec of say Euro Shrick 264's? Is there such a thing as Euro or American spec cams? I am planning on running these cams with enlarged flowed TB and a port matched inlet manifold from Micha in Germany. Cheers! VRT

I have got a coil pack, and this is the only time this has happened and I did see condensation on the leads by the pack! I took each one off one by one and blew them out and wiped with kitchen cloth and it was better and after driving a while it cleared. I did do a jet wash on the friday with the engine running cleaning the under side of the body, not the engine bay! It drove fine for a 120 mile round trip ,it was two days after sitting out in the rain it decided it didnt want to run properly! I was just hoping it was condensation? As for the tyre Idid originally think someone had stabbed it ,may be the same f**kers that kicked my wing mirror off? I did drive up a kerb on that friday so maybe that could have caused it to spilt? There is a quarter inch slit just below one of the letters on the side wall when I filled it up,and it just hissed out rather quick! I had only just put a brand new set off four on a couple off weeks ago so I was pretty p***ed off!! I cant get a replacement till MOn now so Ive now got to travel 120 miles again on the spacesaver!
-
No thats not to bad !But I dont know if thats definitely the prob may be Ill try the sparks test kev?
-
Sounds like they might be friend of the wing mirror kicker B**tards!! I was thinking about getting dents removal done on mine I have little dinks all over! I was just a little bit worried as Ive been told they may drill little holes in places to push dents out etc? :? VRT

Started mine up today and it was very lumpy due to it being wet and misrable the last two days its been standing. The rpm was up and down a little, and was miss firing like mad ! This was the effect we got when steam cleaning cars at my dads old garage. We used to have to blow out the dizzy and leads to get the moisture out. The car would hardly drive down the road it was embaressing ! After a while it got better and better intill I got to a roundabout and noticed a groan from the rear, pulled into the petrol station,Ive only got a f ing flat tyre aswell!! After putting the spacesaver on for the first time of its life in the p ing rain, I drove home and forgot about the shopping I had to do I just wanted to go home!! Anyway by the time I got back it was running its normal self again, and I do hope it was just the damp and nothing else! If anyone can think of anything else it could be please let me know! VRT

Sorry where abouts do these metal sleeves go, or located ,I didnt notice them when changing complete wishbones on mine? -
Im not entirely sure but I was thinking of fitting these cams as well, but was unsure because I think it is advised to use shorter valve springs?
-
Ok kev cheers for the advice Ill crank those shocks back up to 1.5 turns which I had from the start . I think Ill let them settle before I go spending more money on a new setup and spend it on my favourite! ENGINE MODS! which I will let everyone know about in due course! VRT

No you shouldnt ! Took it for a spin tonight and boy did it thudder! The roads around here are really s**t though and I have the fronts on half a turn now. I totally agree ! Oh well how much where your coils anyway? Not that I would be able to afford to consider changing anyway! I think it could possibly be the UJ on mine gone ,dont know with out having a propper look though. VRT :)
