  1. Without a doubt, the most sensible thing that has been written in this thread.
  2. Ta, I'll give them a call too(!).
  3. I'm gonna try Styledynamix one more time tomorrow and see what they say, if they're still coming back negative then I'll cancel and go through DT, I did try calling them yesterday but they weren't anwering the phone. I really wonder about customer service these days. Thanks once again for all the advice folks, this has been really useful.
  4. Thanks Kev, that's really informative. I rang Styledynamix this morning and and was told that there wasn't a stainless rim option and that there wasn't a 20mm adapter plate?!? I'm rapidly losing confidence in them tbh. How much did it cost to buy the adapters from RH? I'm a bit torn now, try and pursue the Satinless rim and have extra weight on an already heavy wheel, or live with the degradation of the alloy rim? Is it possible to upgrade the rim at a later date, does anyone make a higher quality dish that would fit the wheel? Sorry one more question, have you got a contact number for RH? Thanks.
  5. Every day?!! Do you run a car washing business? That is some dedication. I think I'm gonna run with 215's, a couple of people seem to be running them without any probs and I had 215 on my previous wheels , I think I'll risk it. This is gonna be a nervous couple of weeks... The more I see them on other peoples cars, the more I know I've made the right choice, your car looks great Paul. How low is it and on what?
  6. Balls, I was reading Kev's original post about the wheels and he said he was running ET35. I just searched a bit harder and saw that he ended up using 20mm adaptors. Thanks for all this guys, I'll check with Styledynamix tomorrow what I've actually ordered(!). I think BBS rims look more OE, my dream wheel would be LM's but $$$! The ZW1's are perfect for me at the mo.
  7. I didn't actually check the offset  , the guy at Styledynamix asked if they were for a C VR6 (when I said I wanted 5X100) and I kinda trusted his expertise, I'm assuming they'll be ET60 and the adaptors will drop it to ET35. If it's occasional rubbing then I can live with that. I agree James, they look really classy. I'm gonna switch to coilovers next year, do they have more clearance than a normal spring/damper set up?
  8. Okay, thanks Lee, I'll give em a call tomorrow and see if I can change it.
  9. Aren't porker caps even more expensive? Just looked on Ebay, £100 for Porker caps?!! For 4 bits of plastic? Can't see how they can justify it. Would look sweet though.... I wasn't made aware that there was a rim option either Lee, bit weird that, not that I would have known which was the better option. Is it worth me changing my order? Would normal polishing wax offer any protection?
  10. I think I'm resigned to them getting kerbed at some time or another, unless they're kept for show, I think it's inevitable. I'd like to get some VW centre caps for them but they seem to be stupidly expensive, probably get nicked as well. I'm just really looking forward to seeing them on the car, it's weird but I was never into split rim wheels at all but these wheels converted me, maybe I've just got a porsche rim fetish
  11. That's good news Tom, thanks. It was actually yours (and Kev's when he had them) car that turned me on to the ZW's in the first place. You know what they say about imitation.... I've pretty much treated the car as a 2 seater since I got it lowered so rubbing when fully laden isn't gonna be an issue. Any advice for keeping the rims clean, any corrosion issues?
  12. I've just taken the plunge and ordered some ZW1's, was gonna wait till next year but fate has forced my hand, what a pity  I've ordered them with 215/40 profile tyres, I don't like the stretched look and wanted as much rubber as possible on em. But I'm now concerned about clearance, I ran the same size with my cup 3's with no probs but they were a 7.5 inch rim and these are an 8, what are peoples experiences with this wheel?
  13. Colley do ya know when that link for DTM was working last, doesn't seem to wotk anymore? I can't find a UK link for them.
  14. Ta v.much, Styledynamix are being a bit slack in getting back to me, I'll give dtm a try as well.
  15. Cheers Chris, I'll give them a call.
  16. Just got my licence back today and I started to put the wheels (no pun intended!) in motion to get the C back on the road. Some of you may recall that I had an off in my C on a saturday morning last november and wrecked a wheel, Police arrived before the AA and I was found to be over the limit from the previous night. Anyway a car-free year later and that's all behind me now, I rang around to try and get a new Cup 3 this morning (there weren't any around at the time of the accident) to find that they've gone bust in the UK and chances of finding a rim are slim to none. Sooo, I was just wondering if any of you fellas are in the know as to anywhere that might have any stocks of 5X100 Cup 3? Alternatively I'm gonna have to buy a new set of rims, the only other wheels I'm really interested in are RH ZW1's, just doing a google seems to throw up hardly any suppliers for them, can anyone point me in the right direction and give me an idea of price, I know they're gonna be expensive. Also do I need adapters or can you get them in 5X100? Looks like getting it back on the road isn't going to be as straightforward or cheap as I thought :(
  17. £1200 fullly comp on C 2.0 16v when I was 24. Was £550 last year on my VR with all mods declared (was 32), will be £700 in November (when I get my licence back!) Woohoo! Sorry I can't stop going on about it :D I'm just slightly made up.
  18. Break it?!!! Never :) I love the wheels (I think they appease my Porsche fantasy a little) but, the more I see of RH ZW1's the more I want a set, I may treat her to some for christmas, s'gonna be an expensive time though as she's nearly at that magic 100,000 so I'm gonna get the Chain tensioners done in December :(
  19. I created a post about it last December, I got done for "morning after" drink driving. I qualify the "morning after" bit not to lessen the seriousness of the offence but point out that it wasn't premeditated drink driving ie. I didn't drive home from the pub, anyhow it's a lesson learned!
  20. Got some great news on Saturday, I gave my insurance company (Adrian Flux) a call to find out how unpleasant my insurance was going to be when I got my licence back in November (if it was going to be much over 1500 I was probably gonna sell as I paid silly insurance when I was a kid, no way am I going to do it now). Anyway I gave them the details of the conviction and a few minutes later she came back with the figure of £700! That’s only £150 more than I was paying before, this was a massive relief as not only can I keep the car but, I can afford to keep modifying it. Still 7 months away, but I feel soooo much happier knowing for sure I can keep her, tbh I don't think I would have got another car if I had to get rid as there isn't really another car below 15K that I want. I went up to Yorkshire a few weeks ago to visit her and give her a clean and just sitting in it made me feel so nostalgic, I've tried to rationalise my attatchment to the car and tell myself that's it's just a lump of metal and rubber but, a couple of minutes sat behind the wheel reminded me that it's so much more than that, I actually felt a little bit emotional  the C has definitely got genuine character. Anyway just wanted to share my good news!
  21. I've never had anything but positive comments about the Cup 3's on my C, but then I've never asked for any opinions on the forum  I really like them, yeah they are very obviously Porsche and I was originally going to go Cup 1 but I'm glad I made the choice I did. Biggest problem you may have is getting hold of them in 5X100, I was told by Mille miglia a couple of months ago that they aren't making any at the mo, I'm trying to replace a knackered one and I couldn't find anyone with any stock. If anyone knows of any I'd be grateful if you could let me know. Oh and they're a 17"X7.5" et35 so they fit fine.
  22. I also went yesterday, had a really good day. I'd never been to the GT racing before and I can firmly say I'm hooked. I was surpised to see 2 corrados as I'd only ever seen Ken Lark's car, apparently there was 2.016v there as well (female driver I think) but it had taken a hit and was off the road. I Had a chat to Ken and the guy who drove the Saxon car (terrible with names) both very approachable and more than happy to chat about the racing and the cars. I'm not sure the R32 should be allowed to race in the same class though, I know the more powerful cars have to carry ballast but no matter how quick the lighter cars are through the corners they're never going to get going as quickly out of them or on the straights. I saw a couple of C's in the car park and wondered if anyone from the forum was there, I was in my mate's 05 Mustang parked up next to another mates 996 Turbo (drool). Did anyone see the last VW race? I had to chip off after the GT.
