  1. next challenge is getting the steering hub, complete with bearing etc disconnected from the driveshaft. I did it on the other side, just tapped the driveshaft with a hammer and it eventually came out. Don't know why this side is so much harder. Is there a tool to do this? Saw a hub puller but doesn't look like it does what i want. Feck knows how i'm going to get them back on again, its like a big long spline fitting.
  2. Thought i may as well make a wanted thread on here before i go to the dealers, as i notice some people respond to them who don't always have a for sale thread. Car is 1995 VR6 What i need: -Gearbox mount -Throttle Cable -Front brake dust shields (pair)-No longer needed, Thanks WesleyVR6 -Throttle body gasket -ABS sensors -Bonnet insulation foam -Aux belt (no aircon) - No longer needed -Mk4 Header tank -Main water pump - No longer needed -bolts to hold sump on So if anyone has any of them lying around i might be interested in buying.
  3. Holy ****. Just been using my new ball joint tool. Hub was already off the car with just the ball joint on it. Wound the tool bolt up, got really stiff, so tapped it with a hammer and it went off like a gun!!! Lucky it wasn't facing me or the car as it launched the ball joint across the garage and into the wall. Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
  4. i got mine through strictly dubs a few years ago, but think they stopped trading now :( Was actually checking the receipt lastnight, was £260 for the rad elbow, the crack pipe, the aux pump bracket and some golf part i didn't actually need.
  5. yeah, paypal gift will be fine. i will mention that i'm unable to post until wednesday, due to work, hope thats not a problem, i will do it first class
  6. i think there are some relays there for heated seats iirc, i've never looked but heard it mentioned
  7. This came with a bundle of parts i bought the other day, and i don't need this as i've got a gruvenparts one. £12 Delivered
  8. isn't the mk1 S3 only just over 200bhp and not that much faster if at all than a corrado vr? i have only looked on paper tbh
  9. ITs been a while since i drove it last, but remember oil getting to 120c wasn't uncommon, water temp has been confusing since i fitted loads of stuff, seems to sit below 90 all the time, its more like 80
  10. have heard of this book in the past, don't know how good it is, as i've not seen/bought it yet http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pocket-Mechanic-Volkswagen-Engine-Alhambra/dp/1898780811
  11. whereabouts on the car is it? i am removing a complete diavia system at the moment, but really planning to sell it all as a complete setup
  12. I had loads of grief with my standard brakes, fronts and rears. Doing the 288's and mk4 rears was probably the best thing i've done to the car. Wasn't too impressed at first, but once they had been on the car a while and i'd done a few emergency stops i was much happier
  13. dunno, i sold the front one, and kept the rear, fitted perfect and looks right will find a pic ---------- Post added at 9:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:03 PM ---------- got another one i painted classic green but liked the black
  14. yeah, i've kind of accepted the same,t hat i won't have it as mint as say A1 VR6's, but then part of me also thinks i'd like to be out there driving it every day and would struggle to keep it that chip/dint free. Saves the heartbreak of getting the 1st stone chip all over again. As long as its not rusting, i'm happy.
  15. had a feel of it today, its really solid. I will get my mate down to check it though as he is going to help with removing subframe, i'll basically just drop it onto him  my dad suggested putting a strip of wood each side of the legs, and overlap the inner wing with it, then clamp each side, it would stop it moving left or right......maybe, could be a bit fiddly and going to have to remove washer tank and power steering tank
  16. i also used them brembo discs from gsf and the pads, they have been decent
  17. £50 sheets? ---------- Post added at 8:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 8:46 PM ---------- if you hadn't of phoned orange and told them, you could of taken out insurance and claimed on that, but even thats quite a few quid a month and then a surcharge and its also fraud  Broken iphones fetch quite a bit of money on ebay, i'd buy any old used phone on ebay to use for now, sell the broken iphone and wait till may.
  18. Ordered three different types. There is no pinch bolt on a vr ball joint btw. Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
  19. i might just buy some new ones, so they all match, is a pain having to keep changing tools
  20. i took all mine off and have made templates for them, so i can renew them. Not got round to finding a material to use yet, but was going to put my templates into CAD soon
  21. i didn't try the heat, didn't wanna melt the rubber bit, will it melt? The track rods aren't that old, probably been on the car about 2-3yrs. will give it another hit with the hammer when i get home, as left it to soak with WD40. Have looked at splitters before but not sure which is the best to get for a VW, i also need to get the Ball joints off the hub
  22. Bet they are quite rare over there in the middle east :!
  23. is there a guide about fitting a different oil cooler etc on here, fancy doing mine, but not sure whether to keep the standard one, or plumb in something else
  24. Took my sump off yesterday and noticed that the bolts that hold it in place aren't the same. Some are 10mm bolts, some are round with 7mm allen key hole in them? Also notice they are slightly different lengths. Will get a photo when i get home. A bit worried that the threads have been messed up on the block as some came out with bits of alloy stuck in the thread on bolts. Turning into a right old job this corrado
