  1. Lol, the pads came in today, that's some crazy-ass quick service eh :D
  2. Hey Steve :) A nice bunch here
  3. Cool cool, always good to get people's feedback/opinions :)
  4. Quick side note: Drove a classic mini not too long ago, what a drive, absolutely sublime! Got to have me one of them sometime soon too :-D
  5. And do you notice any difference torque delivery? Better/worse/no change? Just asking cos kevhaywire says that it's good for torque.
  6. And there is nothing that can be done to improve the first inch of travel? But to be honest, I actually like it like that, I really do. I have driven the Mk4 golfs and although their brakes are fantastic, I didnt like the fact that it was quite close either "on or off". The new Meganes brakes are like that, just a tap and you get a bruise across your chest fromt he seatbelt. I think I'll stick to my "crappy" C brakes :D
  7. Hhhmmmm... I take it the resonance isn't as bad from the BMC cold air feed then? I actually like the noise of the K&N cone :) Mind you, I haven't heard the VR6 in any other situation so maybe I just don't know any better :-P
  8. Nasty as in bad for the car/engine or you dont like the noise?
  9. Thank god you mentioned that, I thought I was gonna have to start looking at getting my brakes checked and fixed, I'm paranoid like about that C  But yeh, I thought that about the GTi too, very good brakes though. The slight lack of driver involvement pisses me off, it really does, I so love it in the C where you are right where the action is, the car makes you feel good :D
  10. Good work on the clean-up dinkus, thanks. Kev: nice comparo, unbiased, which is what I was looking for, thanks for the input. Jim: Thanks for the link, will definitely be checking it out.
  11. Is the sound really all that difference from a K&N Cone with caf than it is to the BMC stuff? How much are we talking for BMC? I take it that it does really work though, ie does feed cold air to the engine? Sorry for the ignorance, dont know much about BMC
  12. Would you take an R32 over a Corrado VR6 though? I know for sure that I wouldn't. I took the MkV GTi out for a test drive (this was before I had my VR6) and it was an excellent drive, really handled beautifully and put the power down well. But now after driving my C, the GTi felt like it was "fake", the drive in the Corrado puts you IN the action, whereas in the GTi you feel a little bit out of the centre of the action. The steering, although good in the GTi, stil doesnt feel as lively as it does in the C. That's my conclusion so far, I want to drive the GTi again now though, since I have spent time in the C, I can make better comparisons.
  13. Right, simple question, has anyone driven it and how would you compare it to the Corrado? I know they are not in the same league, but they have roughly the same power (compared to the VR6) and weigh about the same and the handling on the MkV GTi is supposed to be excellent, with good feedback. So how do they differ in your opinion? Let's see how they compare.
  14. Thanks for the replies everyone, appreciated. On the phone now to GSF ordering Pagid FR pads :)
  15. Thanks for the replies Neil G60. kevhaywire: How much is that wax that you use? And where do you get it from? I don't necessarily mind the dirty wheels too much, it's just that I have seen what they do to the alloys (to a very bad extent) and so I'm really paranoid about the same thing happening to the Solitudes.
  16. So you reckon I should give them a call then rather than order online, cool. How long do they usually take to arrive to your door? I'll just let them know that I am a member of "the corrado forum" yeh? How much do you get yours for?
  17. I like your tip very much, now which wax do you use? So Pagid FR pads it is then, where would be the best/cheapest place to get them? Is it worth me getting these pads then? Since the brake dust is the same or more, is it worth me buying them? How much better stopping power do they have in comparison to the VAG ones? ANd what is the price difference between the Pagid FR and VAG pads? EDIT: And what is the life difference between the 2? Sorry for the all the questions
  18. It wasn't me but the M6 runs from the M1 near Coventry to Scotland. It would take you at least 3 hours to do that run. Could you narrow it down, maybe?  Sorry my bad, wasn't thinking, lol I would say about an hour's worth of driving north of Manchester on the M1. Then there was a green VR6 too, can't remember the plate now though, dont think I even seen it, this was about 10 mins after I seen the red VR6.
  19. Neil G60: That doesnt sound too good, how are the Pagid Fast Road Pads for braking and brake dust then? And where would be the best place to get them? dinkus: Which brake pads do you use then? If you stick to the VAG, does the amount of brake pads not piss you off?
  20. As far as modern day designs go, it doesnt look too bad, but in comparison to "THE" Corrado, nope, not a chance. I'll take my 10yr old car over that anyday thank you.... I wouldnt mind an engine swap though with one of those though :D
  21. Hey guys, I'm needing to change my front front brake pads and I dont want to stick to VAG 'cos of all the bake dust. Therefore I'm thinking EBC Greenstuff, is this a good idea or do you recommend something else? Braking-wise, I don't need anything particularly amazing, even VAG brakes are good enough for me, I'm not using them like I would on a track on anything. I just dont want as much brake dust. Any idea where the cheapest place to get them from would be? TIA :)
  22. L reg red VR6 seen on the 31st Aug going North on the M1, around 7ish, I gave a "thumbs up" to him as I passed but I dont think he caught on that I gave a thumbs up cos of the car (I was a passenger in a Mk IV Golf 2.0 TDI).
  23. I've not had many moments like this but I was at the stealers getting a fuel filter, when I got out of the parts dept I seen a guy get out of his R32, go over to the C, g around it, have a look inside and then admire it again and then get back into his R32. And about the same time, 2 of the guys working there went over to it aswell, and were just standing a little further back (not to make it too obvious that they were looking) and then when I went past them, I could hear them talking about it. Oh I do love her, wouldn't trade her in for anything
  24. Good to hear that, I know how gutted I would be if I couldnt drive my Corrado, even for a few days, let alone 10 weeks, I'm be a miserable wreck, lol.
