I would actually like to see who has the combination of highest mileage and best looking condition of car too
-
Aug' '95 registered VR6 Storm, has full VWSH, bought her on the 14th May 2005 with just past 63k miles, and now just over 10 weeks after, it's got about 64800 miles, I'm trying to stick to a limit of about 5-6k miles a year, preferably in good weather. Let's see how long this "limit" lasts though eh, lol. :)

I'm pretty sure that the Stig is Tiff Needell, the reason they cant reveal his identity is 'cos he has his "own show". Makes sense to me though since Clarkson and Needell used to work together before and we all know that Needell is a sh!thot driver.

I just bought a set of 6 Blaupunkt speakers for my car, fitting on Tuesday/Wednesday, will let you know what I think of them compared to the standard ones, well that's all I can compare to anyway.
-
Mines is lowered 40mm with VR6 top mounts too.
-
I am just wondering what the general consensus of Weitec springs and shocks are? And how do you think they would compare to the likes of H&R springs and shocks in every relation, ie comfort (or lackof ), quality, price etc etc? I have Weitecs on my car now and a friend has Vipertech kit and his car seemed to holding the lines better round the corners, so was just curious what you all thought of Weitec. Another question, how would the "FKS dampers with H&R springs" combo compare to the full H&R kit?
-
^ What do you mean by "where the top mount is set" ?
-
I know my car's mid-box heatshield hit the speed bump and mines is lowered by 40mm, you might also hit the tank, but I'm not too sure, just thinking out in the open here.

Thanks for the replies stevemac and _leon_ Leon: Nice to have met you, and thanks for all the advice on the car. If you need an extra pair of hands with whatever, then I would MORE than happy to help out, I may not know a lot but I am good with my hands. Seriously, if you need more hands, call me out anytime, more than willing :)

Just a question, would you change these parts taking into account only the mileage, or also taking into account the age aswell? My car has done 65k miles but is 10 years old, but I'm 99% sure it doesnt handle like a Corrado should handle, so most likely it is to do with the suspension parts, how should I go about this?
-
Polyurethane or VAG Rear suspension bushes???
Dr Forinor replied to corradophil's topic in Drivetrain
Can anyone point me in the right to learn about the suspension parts and preferably somewhere I can see a diagram so I know what the hell you are all talking about with the top mounts and lower mounts and bushes etc etc, lol. -
Any more info/contacts on this? I was planning on getting a tracker fitted when I had enough money so further information would be appreciated, thanks :)
-
What about MS AutoRoute? I use that quite a bit and AFAIK, it's compatible with GPS trackers.
-
Same here actually, why not have a couple spare, never know when you might need them. Thanks

I checked around the engine quickly when I first noticed the smell and there was no oil anywhere but I'll check again. But I'm doubting the head gasket to be dodgy on car that has 64k miles with FSH no? Thanks for the help kevhaywire, I suppose that would explain why the smell isn't there all the time.
-
No, clutch (from my experience in the Rover) is a very distinct burning smell which you can easily characterise with the clutch, and it doesnt smell like a fart. It's very strong. kevhaywire: So this belt tensioner pulley, can you explain in laymen's terms what it is and what I need to do to fix it. How does this affect the engine/car? I drove the car today for about 25 miles, and I did put my foot down a few times, (both in 1st and 2nd) but no smell at all today. Weird?
-
Lol, I like the attitude of the people here, always willing to help out and with a friendly attitude (apart from VR6 from what I have read, lol). I know it's got nothing to do with the thread, but I just thought I'd point out that you guys are cool, keep up the good work of helping out us newbies. Thanks guys.
-
Nope, definitely not clutch slipping, and it's not strong as a clutch smell.
-
How would I know if there was a belt slip? I just got the whell alignments done about 2-3 weeks ago so they should be ok, and they look fine to me aswell. How can I check the engine mounts? I was having the problem of my gearstick vibrating back and forth in 1st gear only and someone suggested that the front engine mount might need replacing. Thanks for the help so far guys. Jim: No, it doesnt smell anything like exhaust fumes. It smells of burning rubber, but it's not characteristic of burning tyres and I couldnt smell anything from the tyres when I got out either.
-
Ok, I have had my car for a little over 5 weeks now, and obviously I have put my foot quite a few times. But the first time I noticed a burning smell was 2 drives ago when I put my foot down. As soon as the foot goes down, you notice a surge of something burning, it smells like burning rubber (but it's not tyre rubber). And I noticed it again during the drive today, I was driving for about 20 minutes or so casually and when I got the urge to listen to the engine, I put the foot down and straightaway I noticed that smell again. As soon as ease off the accelerator, the smell dissappears. What can this be? How come I never noticed this before? Please help me, I'm getting really worried.... :(
-
I have Weitec springs and shocks and I'm quite happy with them. But to be honest I bought the car like this and so I have no experience of other suspension to compare it to.
-
3 slat colour coded grill, silver VW badge, no eyebrows, no G60 badge, And if you dont mind, please change the chrome style wipers... :-P :)
-
Without, definitely without.
-
Apparently Eibach springs and shocks are supposed fairly good, stiffer than the standard but the softest setup from the aftermarket range. I have Weitec springs and shocks on mine right now and I might change after a while, to Eibach also.

Thanks for the help, if you need any teeth "repaired", lemme know, lol :) And yeh, I will try to have fun, cant wait, leaving in 30 mins, woohoo :D
