May be coming back to the fold already......
A20 LEE replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in General Car Chat
whats the actual problem? The running costs or the purchase price? I know someone who is a wizard with maintainance on porkers and cheap. Owns his own racing porsche 964 (600+bhp if the rumours are correct) with a sequential gearbox!! -
Don't read if you don't want to know the F1 result.

schumacher was too aggressive for his own good. -
jet wash under your arches and spray the plastic liner with tyre foam. Makes a big difference to how clean a car looks  . Pics..

hmm well my mate used to work at VW and was saying basically what a pain the front ARB is.. i'll try some other places though. He's no mate wanting to charge that. Even AMD would feel guilty at that price.
-
Revo actually works very well as very few people actually go further than just a map on an S3 anyway. Dubsport get 295bhp with a custom map but Mark usually backs them off to 275 for reliablity and smoother delivery. MTM do a good map 275bhp/305lbft!! Interested to see if theres any truth in that torque figure.
-
My mate Rick fitted them, took 2hrs having never fitted a set before. He didn't actually want paying for fitting them but i insisted. Realistically you shouldn't be paying more than £60 at back street rates £100 at a dealer/independent.
-
how does the revo map compare to the AMD one on your last S3?
-
I like the current carpet, MJ's carpet is black and its a bit basic looking. How about getting some embroided logo carpet mats in the same colour.
-
Never held me back.

a std S3 understeers like you wouldn't believe. Fit the ARB's and theres next to no body roll and the steering is much sharper and weightier, not a trace of understeer or oversteer in normal driving unless you try to induce it.
-
go for 25mm, the 21 is too thin. Every 3mm on the diametre makes them twice as stiff and i know from driving with 25mm front bar i'd be gutted if it was half as effective.
-
don't piss about, get H&R ARB's (25mm fr & 21mm r). Its rubbish about a 25mm front causing understeer. One my mates payed £350 for R32 bars fitting to his 1.8T Quattro 6months ago loved them, until he drove mine. You also get used to the bars quickly and then want even more....

its true, top gear did drive a corrado storm from the UK to germany. Jeremy also did a 15sec bit on the corrado when he covered the death of the escort cossie.

Quickest car you've been in, owned and most interesting....

Fastest car i've been in Corrado VR6T Syncro 478bhp. Fastest i've driven, Aston Martin DB7 Vantage. -
think you'll find he supplies and fits leather kits not a proper retrimmer. They pretty common, main dealers fit them because there cheap and can be done in a day. At £1051 your only a couple of hundred off a real retrim.
-
 they will be cheap for a reason. A basic trim takes 4 hides which cost £150each before a trimmer gets hold of them.

its sadly playing second fiddle to the S3 at the moment. New toy and all that. Only really development is got the refurbed ARB's back which look awesome in bright red, should be done in this colour from the factory. Also spoke to jason about smoothing the bay and told him he can take the car anytime he's ready. Doubt it will be before sept though as the E38 guys want me to bring the car to the show due to the very strong european turn out expected this year. Not sure i want to take it....hmmm. five/Six weeks to make up my mind. On the S3 front, its got tints, new mats, H&R ARB's and just bought a set of H&R lowering springs. Saving up for a set of bilstein dampers and that will do it. The C will then get my full attention.

agreed. But numbers like LDZ 9559, etc, etc just scream cheap skate chav.

If its a car you do want to sell, sell it quickly to the first reasonable offer or it will sit in the classified dropping and dropping in price while people sit and wait for it to hit rock bottom. Ian Birch for example always sells his cars to the first offer as its usually the best due to peoples impulsive nature. Steve Denton is of exactly the same opinion, builds something for himself and it gets sold before he even get chance to drive it, then buys it back for peanuts 12months later  . You'll could easily spend 10K+ on a turbo and 4x4 conversion and add next to nothing to the cars value. Let the next owner do it. My own outlook is, i've basically accepted that every penny on my car is wasted. Never planned on selling, if i get a silly offer i'll take it. -
yeah, not a problem at all.
