  1. S3s in general.... not my bag. Too middle class young exec and female estate agent for me. I don't get drawn into Audi's 4 ring brand power. I know what's underneath and won't pay the massive premium for the small differences you get over it's VW equivalent. For 4WD I'd rather take a classic shape Scoob, pocket the difference and spend it on my Rado! Nah, they're more likely to be driven by knobs these days hence this thread  The other issue if you look on pistonheads is the 330+ bhp cars don't sell. Not into scoobys a bit too "retail park" for me, the exception being the 22B.
  2. MJ can trim just the cloth sections (01274 533370). Bare in mind that if you want a specific leather a whole hide will have to be bought (£130-£150ish) then labour so £400 may not be too bad. If your happy with a near match with material the trimmer has in stock it could knock 30% off the job.
  3. agree with you. The S3 is soulless next to C VR6, but it will spank anything without an FQ badge on the back A to B.
  4. ok, i'll see if i can get a good deal on the brembo's and stick the 312's up for £150.
  5. Hmmm, there's been a few reaaally good deals on BBS wheels on Audi-sport. Now i know why.
  6. everytime you post you mention 345bhp. :-P
  7. that name rings a bell. Their was a drag racer employed by USAF to test ejector seats for planes on a rocket powered sled. The G detached his retinas!!
  8. Why do you think i'm trying to see what mine are worth first before giving an answer.
  9. Been offer a cheapish set of second hand brembo's for my S3. So wondered what i'd get for my S3 brakes complete with calipers, carriers, discs, pads and hoses?. Hoping that a can stretch to the brembo's by selling my brakes.
  10. Looked into upgrades £1500 for a GT28RS but then fitting and mapping + insurance.
  11. turbo failed on mine  looks like the oil feed pipe had a blockage cooking the blower. No warning, out in it saturday, start it up sunday morning and no boost. £900 for a new VAG turbo on its own.
  12. of course its rough, take out the meat on the bench grinder. Next will switch to 100grit discs. Don't worry, i've done this before...alot. ;-) Retrimmed the backs of the rear seats in alcantara this afty. Just glad i've already got all the parts for the install.
  13. Done a little more. Still sanding away on that damn rear beam, better look good when its finally smoothed and chromed. Decided due to the amount of hours need to get it right i'm best attacking it for time to time rather than trying to do it all in one go. So i made a start on the front hubs. I've stripped them down and begun grinding down the casting marks. The dust guards will not be replaced as they foul the big brakes, this means that all the bolt holes for the guards will be welded up and smooth out. On the Audi front a remus backbox was fitted last week which is way too quiet. Hoped it would make the soleless 20V sound abit meatier, it is a nicer tone just too quiet so considering adding a centre section and loosing the small middle box. Started to retrim the boot in alcantara, only done the top side panels so far. Don't think MJ will be employing me just yet! Its will do for a daily tho'. The S3 has been hurting my wallet too. New CV boots on the front, 12month tax, new DV (went aftermarket as there meant to be more reliable), new N249 valve. Unfortuately this morning the car ran like sh*t, no boost. Looking increasing like the turbo has gone which is a sickening blow as it going to cost a lot so the corrado is on hold for the forseeable future. If it can't be done for free, it doesn't get done simple. So what with a few personal problems thrown into the mix, on the whole had a stinker of a weekend all round. Shame i'm tee total, i'd definately do a bottle of JD right now
  14. Yep, looks an old barge these days and cost a fortune to run. S3 has everything the S4 has bar a decent sound track. Holds its money better and £3k gets you 350bhp if you want it. Cheaper servicing, more tuning parts available, less weight and has an smidge of Kudos about it.
  15. The S3 would have been perfect if it had left the factory like you one below!! Personally think there crap as standard, hated mine to start with. A chip and suspension transforms them, Remus backbox is going on mine tomorrow. :-)
  16. its perfectly normal. The rear in particular will feel much twitcher. You'll get used to it in a couple of days, there no lack of grip. Just slowly build up your confidance in the new set up.
  17. Remember the car in "The Wriath", that was very cool.
  18. fitted a powerflex dog bone bush to mine last week. The difference was amazing. The turn in is razor sharp now the engine is acting as a huge strut brace. The gearchange is very positive. There is now vibration at tickover and you need to give it more rev's when pulling away but once on the move..wow. The NVH is meant to improve as the bush settles in. We'll see...
  19. like that one, best so far. Maybe if the aston was more in the frame rather than zooming in on the badge so it doesn't look like aston valetters.
  20. Got them on my S3, best thing i've ever done to any car.
  21. he races everything. Check the website, other drivers also step in. Frank Mountain drove his own MC12 around the track in the white overalls. He also produces the MPH live action show with the top gear boys.... http://www.bencollinsracing.com/
