  1. VR6OC have another stand this year, we've got some awesome cars lined up.
  2. Hello, I've been a member on here for a while, not sure If I ever intruduced myself properly, some of you may know me from other forums / and that thing called real life :D. I am Pete, and I have ran The VR6 Owners Club for over 7 years now, great fun being able to help other like minded folk, so a huge sucess on that front! I'm on my 3rd VR6 now! My first mk3 VR6 had a little 80MPH run in with the nurburging :( so I dediced to build this bad boy: 221BHP mk2 VR6... was rapid :) but, I thought it was time to buy a house and all that, so sold it (big mistake) for some wonga for the house! now. house is done! so I bought this: bought as a non runner, needed head gasket, timing chains, matrix and everything else doing! got these; and and a load of other stuff, did a bit of this and that. and hopefully will be ready for an MOT in March following a mass of jobs... bonnet cable needs replacing too. will be fun! Here's my build thread! viewtopic.php?f=11&t=83314 enjoy, and might see you at some events this year! Pete
  3. Would this stuff do the job with the pivot points etc to keep things 'loose'? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GT85-SPRAY-LUBRIC ... 20b68cb44a
  4. sounds interesting! I've created a thread here to try and capture all heater control issues in one place. might be worth adding some info to it :) viewtopic.php?f=19&t=100505
  5. As this topic is being covered over various areas of the forum, I thought I'd start off a thread where all information can be collated in relation to the problems and solutions with regards to the heater controls on the late Corrado (rotary controls). So if anyone has any tips / tricks for repairing / replacing the troublesome unit, please add your comments! Here's a few threads i've collated together from recent conversation. 6. Where's the cheapest place to get a sump gasket guys? ive had different prices from a couple of places... Euro car parts £26 + VAT General Traffic £19 Is there just the one type to get or anything else to take into consideration?
  7. ahhh. they have a personality all of there own! and sound as quirty as some of the VB scripts I write :)
  8. cheers kev, I will do so.... roll on 5th / 6th feb when the car will actually be able to drive out of my garage at long last :)
  9. I paid £56 for a set of MK3 Passat ones last year (for a 96 model). SEAT have a different pricing policy on parts compared to VW so we may be in luck. I looked at 6 Corrados in the last two months and all of them had the tight switch problem. know what you are saying! usually the bowden cables seen better days! luckily mine are ok, just that the heater controls fell apart when doing my matrix!
  10. I spoke to vinve @ stealth the other day, who paid £180 for a new set of passat controls from the stealer... crazy money...
  11. Thanks guys. I'll try and pop it back on. Don't suppose any of you have the ETKA diagram?
  12. After I did the bulk of the work with chains / head gasket etc.. I had this bit of plastic left over, any ideas what it does and where it goes? Cheers. Pete
  13. That was my understanding too. but the golf v5 is more powerful than a standard vr6 one, not sure if it's burshless or not.
  14. Removed old heater motor with the intension of fitting my new one, shame my neck gave away (awaiting a disc replacement at the age of 26!) so never finished the job.
  15. This is what Vince tells me.
  16. Thanks - I've odered the bits and a couple of other things too :) should be a fun job!
  17. Thats amazing! I really want one of these bad boys :) Think he will make anymore up?
  18. can anyone confirm the above? looking to order the parts today so i can at least close the bonnet of the C :-)
  19. vince's response: " Hi Pete, I have not got any part numbers but the starter motor you need is from a Golf V5 2.3 with 5 speed gearbox. Vince" Probably wont be too hard to get a part # from vag-cat/etka.
  20. I spoke to vince about this the other week as it happens, and he says the golf V5 starter will the engine quicker, and fits straight onto the VR6! I'll try and get part number off him.
  21. if I can plug it into my IPOd's then i'd like one of these... i dont have any stereo in mine atm...
  22. Can anyone confirm that the below are the only parts I need to replace bonnet cable? 535823555 Nipple - £4.27 + vat N0102631 Screw - £0.08 + vat 536823531 - CABLE Thanks. Pete
