  1. 130k reached today on 1996 model. Generally i would say very reliable, just the usual hic ups and service items you would expect on a car 10 years old. Drivers door handle went Jan this year. Alarm has finally packed up - just. (but it is 10 years old) All other items straight Wear and tear items. Keep it reguarly serviced and oil changes every 5k Get the engine to temperature before you open it up
  2. Did anyone ever watch the Truck Racing some years back? It was especially good when Steve Parrish and Barry Sheene were at the wheel. Watched them in the flesh at both Silverstone and Brands. Awesome stuff! Rallying - Colin McRae F1 - Senna (saw him too in the flesh at Paul Ricard Circuit- swoon !!!!) Moto GP - Rossi (and i think he should go over to F1 ) Just observed from my selection - all complete nutters although I think Randy Mamola probably has to take the top of the grid for that title.
  3. Would really recommend Bill Gwynne Rally School, based at Turweston near Brackley, Northants. Been twice. I also think better to go this time of year when the ground is wet, possibly icy.

  5. There is a Super Sports Car Day at Gaydon - Weekend of June18th/19th or there abouts which I think should have some similar shots. Unfortunately/Fortunately I will be at Le Mans :D
  6. Cool one Jim. I really love the sound of the WRX and have seen them in action a few times, I really should get to drive one soon. I have a Track Day booked in June for a Single Seater 1600 at Donnington Park no less. I really can't wait. Out for 27 laps in the Single Seater after 15 in a MG ZR where the instruction takes place giving guidance of lines to take etc. I had wanted to do this at the end of March and was amazed at how far in advance you have to book now. June is going to be very busy. :D

    Rally Driving

Jade Hi, I have actually done this twice, Lady Quest that is !! (Just incase the guys get all excited !) I have done about 4 Rally days, but the 2 for Lady Quest with Silverstone Rally School. As you know they is a fantastic prize of them paying for a full year of Rally Competition. 10 People go through to the finals, annoyingly I just missed the points, even when I went the 2nd year, the guys all thought I had gotton through previoulsy. Anyway, what they are looking for - is to see a noticable improvement through the day. This proving you have the ability to Listen and Learn. Also though, they need someone who is able to present themselves to Journalists should they win. So be able to talk quite confidentially and be interesting. You will also be given a test - don't worry about this, its along the lines of providing you with a scenario when out on a rally, of say a puncture and damaged wheel. You will then be advised it is 5 miles to the end of that Rally stage, bearing in mind time is of utmost importance, Do you - change the wheel or crawl the car home. You may also be asked if you have to change a wheel, with your Co driver, who would do what and in what order. Again remember Time is important on the Rally stage. I hope all that gives you some indication of what the day has in store. If I remember other items I will let you know, but if you have particular questions - please just ask. Pm me. Good Luck Wendy
  8. I agree. They took ages trying to get a Lambo on, really patient, it was good to see
  9. My local VW garage actually got their mits on mine for the first time late last year when a water hose went. They have been trying to get the servicing of mine since I have owned it. But I try to politely point out, that I do know the trade enough, and a 10 year old car is usually referred to as an Old Dog, top that with , they were so few made, they do not have the expertise and knowledge, I will take it to the specialists, Stealth or AMD. They are ok with this - just - and do quite well with the spares I order from the Parts Dept. I have to be fair and say they are always incredibly helpful The car always pulls interest from the technicans too.
  10. The second they were first produced, I knew I was going to own one, just had to wait a few years until they finally came to a price I could afford. Love the overall styling, the discreetness of its ability in power, the rarity and a realitively natural progression after Scirroco Scala and MK11 16V.
  11. I have no more of an idea than you guys as to what is happening in the Corrado Club. I have just organised a few meets like many others on here. I am a Member only and also wondering what is happening, is there to be a AGM etc. Have to say, in the past admittidly, there have been good shows and attendances, I certainly made quite a few friends from the Club, but, yes the Forum certainly is taking over, hence I finally joined. If you are serious of the Forum taking over from the CCGB, then naturally some of the logistics would need addressing. Who would run it, etc etc etc, then approach them, can't be any harm in that. I think another Sprinter maybe on its way soon, so maybe that will enlighten us all.
  12. Asim, I loved the Corrado, but your new car, wow, wow, wow. :D You do know I hope that it is an general understanding, that I should be test driving this, of course this is just to ensure everything is in order and you have not purchased a pup ?!! Would love to see this in the flesh. I want one, badly !!
  13. Andy, You are also listed on the reserve list, no 8 I think. Sounds great fun, presumably you will be looking for sponsership? Wendy
  14. Ben - Your car drives ?! Really - I thought the trailer was part of your Corrado mods
  15. Asim, No, no, no. That is a real shame. :( I am sure that was very hard to do. She was truely stunning and a real merit to you. So, new Porsche ? Umm, very interesting, like the sound of this !! More details required :D
  16. Ram Air filter combined with Miltek exhaust :D - there is nothing like the sound - superb :D
  17. Sounds fab - like Graham, look forward to seeing it and hearing it for real. :D
  18. I am with RAC and think they are brilliant. Being female the service is outstanding, they check if you are alone and then try to put you to the top of their list, plus they call reguarly to check you are ok, if going to be over an hour before they can get to you. For other Women, a point to note if you do breakdown and are alone and feeling at all concerned. Ring the Police. I did years ago before I had breakdown cover and had broken down on the M40. I managed to sort the Car recovery items out, but during this time, two squad cars came by - to check I was Ok, they even asked if I would like someone to stay with me. Amazing !
  19. I used to have a Motorhome years ago. It suffered from many interior squeaks and groans which drove you mad. Surely all it is, is a drying out process and the whole reduction and expansion thing from heat and cold I found a silicone spray called Dashboard something, anyway, I have found your normal furniture spray polish to work just as well. It can take several goes to find the right spot. Best done when have a passenger in the car - saves you having an accident trying to spray polish when driving. Presumably the Sunroof issue is similar as that often packs up. I have just greased mine - makes the running of it smoother, as this is now lubricated, surely no metal to metal noises there either. Hopefully, that's one less niggle. Does anyone have the one from the rear of the car, sounds like rear door shelf bouncing around?
  20. Sorry to hear about this. Looks Nasty Please make sure you get all the physio etc that you need - it can go on for long time. Also ensure you clain back all your loss of expenses - no need to be any more out of pocket than you are already. Good luck with recovery and new car hunting
  21. That's it, read this lot, about to get on my soap box too. :onfire: I get really mad at the road conditions, as NickVR6 mentions. Surely this not only damages our cars but actually causes accidents. I was on a stretch of motorway recently where the groves caused by the lorries was so bad, it effected the steering control of the car. Presumably the reason for so many restricted speed limits - down to 50mph in much of Oxfordshire, is due to poor quality of road surfaces I often wonder what my Road Tax is paying for. I know there are more roads and therefore finances have to be stretched, but with an abundant increase in the vehicles on the roads too, surely it can't be too hard to make the books balance. Off to smoke my very last cigarette. Nicorette patches tomorrow - and that's thanks to a mail on here before Christmas. Scared the hell out of me. Guess I should say thanks, but somewhat apprehensive at the moment. Won't get wet when in the car anymore - smokers will understand this one
  22. Xbones, Sorry to hear about your mishap with the Corrado. Having only just read the last 7 pages, I notice you mentioned you still ache all over. Having been in a pretty serious accident two years ago when it took ages for diagnosis of the damage to me, can I suggest you go and get checked over yourself. If your neck still hurts, you will have almost definately damaged it and need some physio. (You may be able to claim these expenses from your Insurance too). The work and even the Car really are secondary to your own health and well being. Good Luck.
  23. Mine is like that !! Just Vince knows you guys would all run for your lives and doesn't like to see grown men cry !!
