  1. To go Ice Driving in Sweden in a Ford Focus, M3 and 911 for a day and a half and in the evening Snow Mobiling !! Can't wait !! :D
  2. What a loss to the world of Rally Sport - I was a huge fan of Colin and hugely excited to have met him at the Castle Coombe Rally Day two years ago. As stated before, a helicopter and not his day job takes his life - so unfair.
  3. Welcome - couldn't resist with the above question - first thing that came to my mind - Yeah, I will send you my Bank Account details - extra funds for my Corrado always come in useful  Hope you enjoy your new ownership
  4. Why don't you ring the Post Office and ask - sorry but it seems the most logical thing to me to do. Won't be taking time off work, will take 2 minutes, boss won't mind if you are putting in good, long hours, won't be wasting time in post office. Have accurate answer. ! (- always take person's name - ensures they have checked !!) It's easy - We women are just so logical !!
  5. I hgave driven in Italy - it's mad, mad, mad and great fun. Although i think I will always give the likes of Rome a miss. Hire car is the way to go !!
  6. Dukest - In brief ;- over two years;- New alarm £450, Mot's x 2 £88, Breakdown cover x 2 £100, CD Player £200, Wheel bearing £250, Tyres £500, Radiator £340, Disks & pads £340, Wishbone bushes (inc fitting) £160, water hose & fitting £100, Bodywork repairs/respray - bumpers and one wing £1000, then general servicing. The figure I provided does include absolutely everything, so polishes, dusters, new mats, bulbs, wiper blades the works. I personally think it was just fair to let someone know the real costs. They - whoever they are - reckon you should always estimate £250 per month for running costs of a car. I reckon many many perople on here well exceed my figure too. Sadly, I do accounts for a living, so really do have every single receipt which i just once a year tally up. I recently finished my Year End - being self employed, so did it then, hence I just quickly looked it up when I saw this post. I am doing in the region of 12000 - 15000 miles per annum and do not hold back when it comes to my car - much to the amusement of my girlfriends.
  7. Ah, so you have just come across the latin blood hot headed Italians !! Yeah, they all drive like that all over Italy and although a little unnerverving to start with, you soon get used to it. Although it always seems as if they are about to blow a fuse or a fist, its nearly always just hot air. Did you not experience what appeared to be like a full scale arguement, only for after some time of huge uproar - for them to shake hands and laugh together. It really is an experience. Hence the Monza GP is so well attended and Ferrari so well backed and all the latin blooded racing drivers so hot headed. I think they are a great race.
  8. I know you have said you would be looking at a 16v or G60, I have a VR and would have to stick up for this model of Corrado. Just so you are sure you do/do not wish to include/exclude it from your equation, I have provided some of the details of mine. Mine is a N plate '96 with 148k on the clock and runs superbly and uses no oil. With fuel, tax and insurance aside, so including all repairs and one bodywork repair of £300, it has averaged at costing me £200 per month to keep on the road, this has been the same figure for the last two years. I have not had any major problems, just standard servicing and general wear and tear items, included in here new brake disks and radiator, plus my tyres are £100 per corner. I also go to one of the reputable garages. Mph - although I can on occassion get 34mph, a proper average is 28mph to include short and long distances. Again like the G60, over 80 and it will always drop below 30mph, guess I may be a little hard on the right foot too. :) Good luck with looking, main advice would be - be patient - they are a lot of dogs out there. Took me over 9 months to find mine. I will leave the boys to tell you all the history you really should check dependant on which model you finally choose.
  9. Just incase any of you were having a complete paddy - like me - thinking only Highlights were to be shown this evening, I located the Qualifying Session starting at 12.30 on ITV 4. :D Enjoy !!
  10. The point here is - Not to let others influence your own style and do things because you think you should. I would sell the Corrado, if, I had the money for the other excessive motors i fancy - but I don't and the Corrado is a serioulsy good car in meantime. Besides being Self Employed, I probably would have to keep the Corrado to visit Clients, I had enough comments when I bought it 5 years ago, clients thinking my rates were obvioulsy too high. Imagine what they would say if i turned up in a 350Z, Z4 or 911. And to stop the obvious comments - Clients - I do Accounts for a business !!
  11. James Hunt autobiography is an excellent read if anyone is interested and sadly McRae's rather dull. :D Brands Hatch Track Day on Tuesday - can't wait !!
  12. What an exciting F1 season !! Damon Hill summoned it up;-'We will be bringing a naughty chair to F1 next.' This should have been sorted out by McLaren, not the Stewards. As for not allowing McLaren to collect the Constructors Cup on the Podium - we really are getting childish. Not too much talk going on about how well the BMW team are doing this season. Decided also, I need to call Flavio - (Renault), he really should sign Button next year . Nothing now for 3 weeks - good job I will be sailing. :D
  13. Phil, I have done Everyman at Leicester - both Single Seater Formula Ford 1600 and Lambo Gallardo - would recomend them no problem - plenty of track time- (of course you never get enough time though) also done Rallying with Bill Gwynne Rally School also twice would happily recommend them too - however I would say a Rally Day is going to be better in Winter or with lots of rain !!! No problem for now then !! I have done several other Track Day events and used other Rally Schools but the ones above I would be most happy recommending. What happened to you at Le Mans this year - thought you were going ?? !!
  14. I too went last year, an excellent day out with some good demonstrations and show cars. Good food served too. :D and 4 miles from home !!
  15. Just back home after driving a Civic Type R on a Track Day at Donnington today :D - yes the last two sessions were very wet from which I certainly learnt the point of not getting on the power too quick after a bend. :) AS for which is faster, I would say my VR - both through the gears and top speed. However - if I drove both on the track and timed the session- I probably would manage to drive the Type R faster - this being due to the car being almost impossible to get out of shape. Would be interesting to put a Miltek and Ram Air on the Type R and ask me again though.
  16. Just finished working today after the Car was at Stealth this morning having new Discs and pads fiited. Seems like I am having my Expensive Year on Car Repairs. :( Tomorrow - day off- probably Sunday Lunch somewhere and boating in Stratford Upon Avon if the weather holds up. Monday - Track Day at Donnington !! :D Can't wait - dead excited. (Took a lodger in recently - the rent pays nicely for Track Days !) Hoping it stays dry - but might learn alot if it does rain - not in my car - a Honday Civic Type R with Instruction. 4 times 20minute sessions. Not a bad weekend organised - now that I have finished work !! :D :D
  17. Glad you enjoyed the day, I have now had 3 days with Bill Gwynne's Rally School, 2 in winter months which I much preferred. Just incase anyone is looking to book a Rally Day I have also done Silverstone Rally School which personally I did not enjoy as much.. I have just had a Track Day at Donnington in a Honda Civic Type R - which was fantastic, receiving best score of the day, then a Porsche Experience Day at Silverstone last weekend. This was only 3 laps so was just that an experience - but worth it none the less.
  18. I don't know why the government doesn't just take all my salary and give me back what they think I need for living. I mean whether its a Tax on Road Licence or fuel tax on aircraft flights - it is simply another way of taxing us more. Besides the more ways in which they tax us, rather than one tax on income means that they hopefully think we are too dim to notice or do anything about it. I for one, do not really believe in greenshouse warming - yes of course we are making an impact, but if you just look over history the planet has always changed and majorily at times. Not that I have strong opinions about this - of course. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Wow, this sounds like a excellent idea - only down side - it clashes with Goodwood Festival of Speed - my fav Car Event of the Year.
  20. I thought so - thank you. Should the need ever arise - the stopping section - and stalling - plus the sheer embarrasement would have reminded me of this bit.
  21. Is what is being described is how to drive a car when the clutch has gone? I am sure this is something I was taught at some time.
  22. I have never really understood rage in the car. Yes of course other drivers and some of their antics do wind me up, but I don't really let them bother me - never saw the point. Always considered it is heart attack material. However there is one exception - driving too close to me behind really makes me mad - shouting and swearing can happen then.
  23. Ben Collins heh ? He's Nice !! :) I also highly rate Perry Mc Carthy's Book Also worth a read are Autobigraphies of Martin Brundle, James Hunt and Carl Foggerty. Even Murray Walker's book is entertaining. Forget Colin McCrae's though - quite boring - I didn't manage to get to the end.
  24. Count me in for a balst on the track too
  25. Yes I agree, but possibly could be both.
