I have a sub box i want to secure in my boot. I had thought of using a plasma tv bracket so i could remove the sub if i wanted, but i dont think its a goer. My next plan was a ratchet strap but where can i attach it to ? How do other people fix their sub boxes in place? Any tips for drilling bolt holes or fixing points in the boot / wheel arch area ?

craigowl - who do you use ? i am stuck for a good garage for the c since Autowerke went titsup.

The center material is pretty thick stuff. I drilled a circle of holes and then dremmeled the rest out.

Coxylad - had never read Practical Performance Car before, but bought the raddo edition last month. V interesting - even if they didnt do the VR any favours ... Defo more technical - which i like. Will be buying again. Second the Evo comment too. Lovely looking mag - proper car porn !

Appreciate the advice guys. I have spotted [url=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1000W-2-CHANNEL-BRIDGEABLE-MOSFET-AMPLIFIER-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ9730622544QQcategoryZ18796QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemhttp://this on ebay for a reasonable amount of cash. It has a line out so i can utilise an amp and sub in the boot from my single line out from the head unit. Ya or nay ?

aye - so both clarkson and Tiff rate the 'vette as a blinder. I also see that it came 3rd in the the Evo CoTY ( was re-reading it last night -presume its the same one? )

I too was baffled as to why driving an S6 @ 155 deserved any sort of feature. I was also thinking - why bother with the reverse track time crap. Figured it out : they wanted to give the cheaper car away ( Skoda )so devised a head to head in which it would come out top. Driving in reverse is the only thing they could come up with ! Seemed like a great way to fuk an engine tho...

Holy crap - GIXXERUK - just looked and the cheapest Genesis amp is like £300 ! Would this do or am i still gonna see much clipping ? Or even this rather grim looking thing ! No one is going to see it ...

No i havnt Kev. As i say they are 2 half years old and were part of a group buy. I didnt even pay James direct so i dont think its a goer. I think you and mbaker8v have a point. I need an amp. Its a bit of a coincidence that the tweeter dies just after my pods are in and i am cranking it up to spot buzzes and rattles......

Class - hadnt paid attention but just looked at the front page of my docs and firstly delivery date is 20/03/96 :) and secondly - it was delivered to Edinburgh. If i had known i would have taken it back for its bday ! Looks like its always been a Scottish car ( Glasgow, Aberdeen, Montrose, Inverness ) but wierdly i bought it from Manchester. No wonder hes been so good to me - i brought him home !

Ray Smith hifi is my closest dealer and he says they are only avail in pairs. No replacement under warranty ( turns out i have had them for 2.5 years !). Anyway here they are : http://www.raysmith.co.uk/TN-47/ £72 a pair. Woody what make/spec were the ones you had floating around? JoeM - we can go halfers if you want a new one or i can just offer you some money for your old one....... Let me know if either option is a goer.

A fine choice sir - welcome to 'raddo world. Is that a Chimaera arse in front of the valver ? Where are you based - nice countryside you got there too.

Update: Focal -UK say that all their car audio products are now handled by BBG Distribution Ltd ( http://www.bbg-av.com). Have enquired if i can purchase single TN-47's. Or even get the blown 1 replaced. let you know etc
-
Have emailed the only official Focal presence i can find in the UK - their Coventry distribution center. Will let you know how i get on.

Bought a set of polyglass 130v2 in a group buy last year. They are great and now the mids are sitting in some nice Audioscapes i am a happy lad. One of the tweeters has just died on me for no reason tho ! Are they known for not lasting long? Standard sony 35w headunit and no extra amps. Any ideas if you can purchase the tweeters separately?

tvr golf Neither is a Corrado - sorry ! ( oh and they are both around 3- 4 mb. Am new to both photobucket and editing / compressing video for web. Sorry dialup users ) Golf was at Knockhill last weekend. I think he missed a gear as he entered the corner, but when he nails it on the way out its VR all the way ! Had a look in his engine bay after - nothing to see - all looked standard ! Sure it wasnt... The tvr is my chimaera. Not abusing the engine as its only got 2.5k on it, but it sounds niiice. You can hear its effects on the laydees too ! njoi

Thanks for the help peeps. This truely is a great forum. I presumed that line-in was the quality route, but didnt know why. Thanks for explaining this stuff. Will scoot off and get proper wiring kit and spanners.....

If i have a sub amp which has two types of input: a line-in and a speaker feed in. Will there be any downsides using the speaker-in method as opposed to the line-in method ? I ask because if i use the speaker feed method, i only have to run 1 cable from the boot to the battery and thats me ( the amp switches on automatically when a current is detected on the speaker in cable - which already exists in the boot ). If i use the proper line-in method, i need to run another 3 cables from the head unit to the amp ( remote on & l/r line out ). Oh the speaker wire to the boot is standard. If i used the speaker-in method would i need to upgrade the cable even though its not driving a speaker?

Two in Hexham on easter sat ! (Hexham is not a big place...) blue 16v at Tescos complex ( i was behind you ) and a Red one on BBS wheels parked round the back of Hexham Horsless Carrages ( must be trading up from a TVR to a C !) -
Thanks for the tips people. I wanged most of the posh stuff on the skin and other structures behind the speaker. I had purchased a load of roofing stuff too which i put elswhere in the door ( it will probably end up dripping out of the drainage holes during the summer !) I knew the 8" and little amp setup was going to be crap in my heart. Just needed someone to tell me! I agree Bristolb ! Gaz - yhm.
