CV boot - cause of steering creak? *Added sound file !!*
ReekieVR replied to ReekieVR's topic in Drivetrain
just spotted this whilst looking for another problem - but wanted to clarify it was the top mount. -
I used to be in the alfa romeo owners club ( AROC ) - they should be able to help.

Was a Lambo up at Knockhill 2 weekends back and i grabbed a couple of snaps: Two normal tyres welded together ! The obligitary (sp?) engine shot didnt come out tho :(
-
I dont really get it either ! I presume that she is so happy with her chava car stereo *, that she really doesnt mind being stuck in her clamped car. Either that or hubby is in the footwell 'checking the spoiler fuse' ! I suspect that Kenwood are having a pop at Sony who supplied all the original units for the Raddo. (* i wonder if there is a huuge KENWOOD sticker in the back window :) )

You know the answer to that really !! Welcome - good to have another member from north of the border. My gf's car broke down last weekend and for the 1st time in 4 years she had to drive the raddo for a few days ( had only just renewed ins and they wouldnt do a temporary cover - so she is on it for a year now ! ). She is quite tall ( 5 11 ) and normally drives a pug 206. Mate she loves it and now understands why: a) i have problems driving the pug - ( pedals squewed to the left, no feedback from anything - cant feel the accelerator underfoot, very high sitting position etc ) b) i go on about it being such a great car. She liked it before, but after driving it she said it was easy and loved the 'power'. She did not look happy trying to get comfortable in the pug again now its fixed ! I think she wants one. And i am sure your gf will love hers too. Good luck.

My Car's at the Stealers - Inspection Report
ReekieVR replied to Dogzyboy's topic in General Car Chat
Autowerke next to Western used to be the best non VAG place but it closed around 1 yr ago :( After ages searching, i found a new indy vw specialist : Heriot Hill down Leith way. Seem to know what they are doing, loads of vw campers etc, and not too expensive. Also rather attractive receptionist lady! Addy: 18 Manderston Street, Edinburgh, EH6 8LY 0131 5531012 -
I think he is in a good mood as he had 1st ever tank of tesco 99ron this morning.. :onfire:

My Car's at the Stealers - Inspection Report
ReekieVR replied to Dogzyboy's topic in General Car Chat
Which 'customer service outlet' did you use ? Sloan ? Interesting to know how much they charge these days. -
Without any work needing done ! Advisory was play in rear wheel bearings ( have they never heard of passive wheel steering ?! ), and slight play in track rod end. Consider me chuffeed ! :D

Most people i see on the phone are lorry drivers and white van men. Exactly the people who you would think would have most to loose from getting points or a ban.

Whirring noise coming from fan control module (vr6)

Are you sure that the VR run-on doesnt do both ? My hot start problem seems to defo be fuel vapourisation. I suspect the fuel pump doesnt run-on either which may also be a factor, but do you imply that the fuel pump shouldnt run-on on a vr - only on a G60 ? Re: controle module. Mine looked like the plastic was welded shut, but check again and you may find its hard waxy stuff which can be scraped out. I have a very late vr. -

The aux water pump keeps water circulating after switch off to prevent fuel vapourisation when the engine is hot. Mine doesnt continue to run-on and it takes a good 7 revolutions of the engine to fire up again after a 15 min sit. You can take the control unit apart. Just scrape the black sealant stuff out with a screwdriver. The top part of the case is kept on by a tab at each side. A small screwdriver to lever them out will work. Its all pretty robust plastic tho. You wont damage anything. -

The only moving parts in the (vr6) unit are 3 small relays. If it doesnt sound like a clicking relay i would guess its your aux water pump. -
pah, both classic shows! How can you put ELR in the same sentence as Home Improvment ? I really find it a struggle to watch ELR at all. HI is defo a classic - the sons have grown up with the show and The Toolman rocks.

Seinfeld - genius. E:"Why do they call it a wedgie?" J: "Because the underwear is pulled up from the back until... it wedges in." "They also have an Atomic Wedgie. Now the goal there is to actually get the waistband on top of the head. It's very rare." E:"Boys are sick." G: "What do girls do?" E:"We just tease someone until they develop an eating disorder." - Elaine, George and Jerry, in "The Library" "Was he on his death bed?" "No, he was on his regular bed." - George and Jerry, in "The Scofflaw"  :notworthy: (Oh and Curb of course)

An email that has no links to further info, seems to foster fear and asks you to send it on needs to be deleted - especially if it says it 'isnt a wind up or chain email' ! Meanwhile: here is the link to the actual study. The charging model seems to have been created by 'transport expert Professor Stephen Glaister of Imperial College, London'. Nowt to do with the gov, just an experiment using 3 people it seems. Hardly reliable data methinks. It seems that the email above forgot to mention this bit for some reason: 'On the other hand our car commuter Nick Waddington declared himself "pleasantly surprised" at his bill for £126.77 for a month - or £1,512 a year. He makes a daily 32-mile journey into the Birmingham offices of Knight Frank where he is a chartered surveyor. He says that if the roads became less congested as a result of road charging, he might be able to cut 20 minutes off his journey and spend more time either with his family or actually working. ' 2 pence worth>

When he goes into 5th his seems to gain huge amounts of speed for hardly any rev rise. There is absolutley no camera shake. Why hit the clutch @ vmax instead of lifting off? I'd be wanting lots of water and oil pumping at that point. Its not as if he is braking much. Something about this vid doesnt sit well with me.

 I often carry a few sheets of roofing lead which i would have thought would cause havoc with a tracking device.
-
Shirley this is aimed at younger drivers who do mostly drive around after 10pm etc, and end up in accidents with no 3rd party. Of course if i were a new driver i'd agree to the tracker, get a higher ins group car with the savings, and make sure the tracker didnt work very well !

Ta for the link Jenks. Hadnt spotted that.

Well finaly sold the RX7 so means VW content inside ;)
ReekieVR replied to aposegil's topic in General Car Chat
Yeh - thats the problem with rwd, lots of torque and no traction control ! They all bite you at some point. I know a few people who sold up after a scare. Good luck with the silver beast and welcome back to the fold !
