Managed to change it without releasing the pump, just used the old 3rd gear and screwdriver trick to "walk" the old belt off, ten minute job to switch belts - the one that was on was in fact a 650mm belt, hence me wanting to change it
-
Want to replace my power steering belt, had a quick look underneath the car and can't see an obvious way of loosening things off to get the belt off - can someone point me in the right direction

Development is well underway with the Lambo's 5 litre V10, should have the full 500bhp, in a weird twist, at the same time Lamborghini is putting the finishing touches to a Gallardo with the Audi 4.2 litre V8, the V8 Gallardo and V10 Audi are going to be virtually the same price

Had the privilege to drive both manual and R-Tronic R8's last week and have to say that I was very impressed. Colour combination is critical to make the car look good, the manual car I drove looked like its back was broken, blue with dark blue sideblades but the black one with carbon side blades looked superb. Quality was fantastic - just what you'd expect of an Audi though Performance was interesting, I have driven an RS4 and have to admit that the R8 did not feel any quicker, not surprising as engines are identical and I think weights are very similar - think this is more down to the RS4 being so savagely quick for what it is rather than the R8 being sluggish though Very impressed by the R-Tronic auto box, interior looks better for losing that awful metal open gate thats fitted to the manual Can fully understand why there is such a long waiting list but for me I'd still take an Aston V8 Vantage, might not be as quick or as well built but it wins hands down when it comes to character - the R8 felt totally soulless, who wants an "efficient" supercar

Alonsos tactics - legal but not exactly sporting
Andy665 replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
The two penalties were for different offences: Bumping Alonso down the grid was due to Alonso impeding a competitor - I believe the FIA have got it absolutely right as there should be no distinction between impeding a competitor from a rival team and a competitor within your own team The loss of Constructers Championship points was due to McLaren bringing the sport into disrepute by their handling of the situation immediately post qualifying, I believe the FIA intimated that comments were made that were later found to be factually incorrect -

Apparently its now all Hamiltons fault. According to a McLaren Press Release, Hamilton was requested to allow Alonso through once they'd filtered out of the pit lane at the start of Quali 3 but he didn't, thus putting the cars out of sequence for their tyre / fuel stops. Alonso agrees with this as does Hamilton but Hamilton then proceeded to state that it still did not explain why Alonso sat in the pit box for 11 seconds after the lollipop had been taken away. Nothing like a bit of needle to spice things up  -

Its like saying that its perfectly OK to scratch a competitors car in a show and shine competition if it helps your own car win - just wrong, let your own skills and qualities secure victory not cheap and dirty tricks -
Don't think Alonsos tactics at making sure Hamilton didn't get a final run went down too well with Ron Dennis. Can't believe the interviewers at the Press conference didn't ask Alonso directly about it - unless Ron Dennis had promised them an "exclusive" if they didn't give Alonso a hard time Just pleased to see that Hamilton remained totally professional about it - I'm sure he'll get his revenge in the race by beating him fair and square

Discs are OE Audi TT discs that have been grooved, machined to fit the bells and zinc coated - built up by the current owner of them. Not sure about pads - you obviously recommend the RS15's - looking for good progressive bite, not that bothered about pad life as car only does 5-6k per year anyway. Best bit about the purchase is the price - £425 delivered, only been used for 1,500 miles and only needs brake lines to complete, he's throwing in the pads he's already got fitted but will probably put brand new ones in

312mm AP 4 pots with alloy bells

They produce a minimum of 987bhp (1001PS) but this is calculated at altitude (4500 feet IIRC) - at a more normal altitude they are reputed to produce closer to 1100bhp (about 1120PS).

Thats sounds like John - glad he was able to help
-
Give JMR a call, he's recently become a distributor for Rotrex so will be able to advise you
-
80k miles without a re-build, definitely living on borrowed time  JMR, owned by John Mitchell have done three charger rebuilds for me now - good, quick service, he can be contacted on 07974 020031 Based down in West Sussex but can turn round a charger in 48 hours if posted down to him Although I have never used G Werks for a rebuild theres enough people on here that have so I'd safely say you can't go wrong with either of them
-
Lovely looking Nugget - good to see another one on the Forum As for charger rebuilds you can't go wrong with either G-Werks or JMR, both well respected in terms of rebuild quality, would choose either of these in preference to Jabba

Thinking of buying a VW Bora as I family car....
Andy665 replied to C. Will Corrado G60 2's topic in General Car Chat
Like my daily, the bus that is a Passat V6 Syncro - full VW history, 12 months MOT, 1/2 leather, climatronic etc etc - all for the princely sum of £2200 - it even manages 30mpg on a pretty regular basis -
No, used flexible plastic primer, gloss black paint and flexible lacquer - quite pleased with the result
-
Sure is, trades as JMR, not sure if he is on holiday at the mo as I've left a couple of messages for him in the last few days and haven't had a response. He is definitely a Miltek agent though.

Mine have always been tatty looking, started to look faded and quite badly marked so decided to restore them, quite pleased with the end result

Thinking of buying a VW Bora as I family car....
Andy665 replied to C. Will Corrado G60 2's topic in General Car Chat
Other half has had a Bora V5 for 18 months and loves it, decent amount of rear seat space and massive boot, lot cheaper than a comparable Golf as well. If you're not doing too many miles then I'd certainly go down the petrol route, they are a lot cheaper than the the diesels and the saving will buy an awful lot of fuel. -
Problem with stuff like that is that whilst the purchase price is within reach of a reasonable number of people the running costs are still taht of a car that was originally £160k. An old boss of mine had a 550 Maranello and a 355, both were very low mileage and I never saw a service bill for less than £1500 - they are not a car to run on a budget and anything other than a top notch service history (not necessarily Ferrari main dealler) will kill the resale value Still a stunning car the 456, in my opinion, the best looking 4 seater Ferrari ever
-
But I bet you have more fun in yours than I do in mine  Just checked on the MOT and it did actually get an advisory this year - "Vehicle heavily undersealed" - am I supposed to strip it all off then??? :)
