  1. Yeah quite easy once you know which make, model to look out for even. Even look out for dash mounted cameras, extra side mirrors or rear view mirrors. Theres alot of Astras, with steal wheels that the police use knocking about leeds. Also the dreaded dark blue Volvo estate! I poop myself everytime i see a dark coloured volvo coming towards me or driving behind me. Sometimes the biggest give away are the coppers in unmarked cars, BUT are wearing uniform. Go figure!?
  2. I was going to do soemthing similar months ago on a different site until i saw they wanted to charge me for the pleasure. Registered to the above ^^ - Rather, WILL register to the above, as i cant do it at work.
  3. Not saying VW are lying, but in my opinion and from experience VW like to 'bend' the truth a tad in the hope you'll get them to do the work. A local garage would have been a safer bet. Sorry no help there.
  4. Not easy to reach then, Can you access it from underneath the car?
  5. Good point forgot about those nuts holds liners and splitter on
  6. lo mate, No expert myself but here goes. The bolts for the bumpers are underneath the car. If you look under the car you will see a set of 3 bolts on either side 2 are the same size, i think they're 17mm. The other is slightly smaller. You need to remove the 4 larger bolts (2 either side). The bumper should then slide out. Obviously disconnect the fogs and indicators first. As for the rear, i dont know as ive never had to take the rear bumper off. The corrado sunroof does slide back AND tilt. However it is a common fault with the corrado sunroof, which can stop sliding back, as has mine. Do as search on this, its been covered quite alot. HTH
  7. Cheers for your help, much appreciated. The cover looks spot on and rare by the sound of it!! Not bothered if the manifold doesn't come out perfect it'll be better than it is now.
  8. Your manifold looks the dogs! Where you get the chrome VR^ DOHC cover? Yes i would take it off the car to do. No need to get any gaskets, its a reconditioned engine is only about 1500 miles old :D If i chose to paint some of the maifold black, can i get the paint from halfords or like. Obviously it would be heat resistant paint. Is all that needs to be removed to get the manifold off is - ht leads, engine plastics, throttle body.. anything else? Cheers for the replies!!!
  9. Thanks for the reply.I may see about getting someone to do it for me then if its that cheap. Though i am willing to give it a go myself. Is it a case of sanding and wet and dry then polishing to get it to shine? I wont need a new gasket etc as it had a new one about a month ago.
  10. 'lo All! Firstly sorry if this has been covered before, i couldnt find anything with the search, apart from one really short thread. Anyway... Have anyone polished or painted (or even both) their inlet manifold on their VR? Mines looking a little tatty and i wanted to make it look a better then it does. If anyone has done it, which im sure someone has, what procedure did you follow and what will i need to do it, ie what paint, tools etc? Also can someone tell me the procedure for removing the inlet manifold and is there i need to know before removing and refitting it? Thanks in advance! Cheers
  11. Yup the dustbin needs removing. Nice C though. That looks the same colour as the C in the banner id say.
  12. Yeah round about 2.5k depends if the fitter encounters any probs or not though too. OOOH Yes! Definately mate, i had to clean/change the spark plugs every 200-300 miles and top the oil up around the same interval. Plus the new engine proved how badly the old one was running - down on power, missing slightly. It was a nightmare for me. I dont think the previous owner looked after it too well tbh. Now i know the history of this engine and how well it gets looked after. NB - By the way the garage i got to fit mine only charges 26 quid p/h so put that in with the labour deal he did. So it COULD go over the 2.5k budget. Mine went over my budget. oh and i also got all 3 engine mounts changed, water pump thermo housing... the list goes on. Its also worth noting that they dont always have them in stock. THey had 2 in when i bought mine - the other had already been sold. My old engine will be in there now id imagine, dont know how long it takes them to rebuild and test the engine. Youd have to ring them.
  13. Just my 2ps.. I can vouch for the reconditioned Vege engine, just had one fitted myself and runs like a dream. Engine cost £1998 (to be exact) and that was on a part exchange basis with your old one. Not sure how long it would take to fit as when i had mine fitted i had clutch and a few other things done too! I also got a deal on the labour due to knowing the guy well enough. HTH
  14. LA LA LA LA LA I CANT HEAR YOU!!!!!!!!!! Thats it though, you LOOOVE the sounds so you use more right for more often  It doesnt cost you £160
  15. Ooooo........Dont tempt me to be stupid and go out and buy one - i just havent got the funds right now!
  16. Wanted one of these myself for quite a while now. Handy for all sorts of jobs :D
  17. Cheers Paul. Its probably already been said but im thought it was k reg onwards. Mines a K reg, but with a new engine so should pass with out any probs anyway. May look into getting a cat bypass.
  18. Yup, pretty straight foward scenario really.
  19. Saw a couple of these while over in France 3 weeks ago. Didnt get a great look as one was just driving by the other was on a car transporter. I have to say they do look quite funky when seen in the flesh. I wouldnt buy one myself, but i can see the appeal and it does stand out against the usual mundane designs that are on the roads at the moment. Lets hope it holds out unlike the mini which, quite frankly, am sick of seeing.
  20. How much would it cost to smooth it and spray it?
  21. So let me get this straight, just so ive got it this 'What year did a CAT become compulsory with MOTs' Debate. ist 1994 onwards that you need a CAT fitted?
  22. My VR was registered on june 1993 and is coilpack and hotwire MAF. How does the other MAF work?
