Some nice pics! Had snow in Leeds this morning, by 11ish it had gone. So much for the snow. -
I thought there were only 2 BMCs anyway. Up to 1.8ltrs and another for engines over 1.8ltrs

Indeed but just coz you spend 2k doesnt mean its a better job, I dont want to sound arrogant but my car has won a few trophies so the paint cant be bad.... Its not always how much you pay but the standard of the work... The best thing to do IMHO...when you see a great paint job ask who did it then go and see the painter and talk it through... Graham Talking sense.^^ Go visit some bodyshops and see if you can see some of their examples.

Nice. Watch out for the magpies when you open the bonnet.

Aye i thought so, just cant believe i forked out to get the alignment done just for the tie rod having to come off  Cheers
-
Cheers for the replies fellas. DR_mat - Funny you should mention the "anyone who adjusts your tracking also doesn't wind up twisting the boot", as ive just had the alignment done. Maybe thats why it has happened. Which is a bugger because the track rod will have to come off to fit the new boot wont it, which will put the alignment out a slight bit. 3corsameal- as far as i can see its secured with jubilee clips.

Bump...Anyone?

Hi all, Sorry my bad, its not the CV boot its the tie rod boot. Can someone please tell me how a Tie rod boot would get ripped other then it being old and brittle? I had a tie rod boot (drivers side) replaced about a year ago. I found i had a knocking come from under my feet when driving, sure enough the same tie rod boot had ripped, this was about a year after the first one was replaced. I got the tie rod boot replaced when i had my engine swap done, ive had the car back about 2 1/2 weeks now. Again theres a slight knocking noise and sure enough it is the same tie rod boot that has been ripped AGAIN! I cant see anything thats its rubbing against. What could be causing it to be ripped again? Cheers guys

Or get your own exhaust and get your local VW specialist to do it ;) -
CHEERS ^^ :D

I agree ^^ What IF you hit the hole and lost control of the car and mowed some poor pedestrian down, would that be your fault or the councils? Also you pay your road tax for a reason, as previously said they have a DUTY to maintain the roads (they get enough money from all of us after all). There shouldnt be holes in the road FULL STOP.

Hi Alex, Do you have details of this place that does the course in York? Ive been looking for a course like this too, but have been unsuccessful.

really nasty smell when reversing on to my drive
Critical_Mass replied to kop10320178's topic in Drivetrain
Yeah thats what i was thinking, hence asking what kind of smell it was? Suppose if your reversing youd be driving through your own exhaust fumes. -

what kind of smell, burning? I've jsut a new clutch fitted and havent smelt anything unusual. -
R.I.P! God bless. :(

No worries Andy, I'm happy to wait - I'd rather it be done right then rushed. Was just after an update, so thanks for that. :)
-
Aye, not the same, but very similar.
-
Cheers all! :D No new OEM mounts fitted all round. Its strange, never did it with the old engine.
-
if you only have normal central locking and not remote central locking, wouldnt you need a transponder in the car to pick the remote signal up? OR some how get the fob coded to work with your existing alarm? Correct me if im wrong.
-
Aye may be so  Be nice to get a SC or Turbo fitted, but want to keep the engine standard.... for as long as i can resist anyway :) The couldnt drive any better tbh, Its effortless. The gear changing is slick. Complete opposite to what my old one was like. That was such a chore to drive. The only gripe i have is that when its idling the dash seems to vibrate from behind. Im going to have to try and pad it out a bit at some point. Other then that theres no problems. IM LOVING IT! 8)

aye, mine have gone same way as Lufbramatt's - the direction control just spins now. Id be interested in these refurbished heater controls.
