Sometimes the rubber mount is disturbed when you take it out of the tower. Especially if it's been there a while,(nice to know that there's a lump of rubber holding your strut to your suspension tower, isn't it?!) and the bearing inside can start to push itself out. Ive been driving the golf about like it for 2-3 weeks now,(daily drivers are fantastic!) it clonks about a bit, but the struts haven't poked outta the bonnet... yet!!
-
Mind you, if i drove a corsa, i'd probably deny it too!!
-
Looks like your top mounts have given up the ghost, i have the same problem on my mk2, when i took off the original suspension, i really upset them. I'm 90% sure it's dead top mounts, just got some new mounts from the show sunday, and i'll be fitting them wednesday so i'll let you know.
-
If you've lowered it, your camber could be out too, it's worth checking just to save tyres- i had camber issues on a mk2 once, i had to change the tyres every 6 weeks!

Thanks to ZARMAN from DDI, he sorted me out with a set of their backlit gauges, very fast delivery (especially from Canada) and they are top quality too, highly recomended. 8)

Fair Play! :) That looks well smart! 8)

No worries, i laugh about it- I ended up getting a corrado out of it! 8) Allthough i still haven't quite had the courage to put that many subs in the back of it!

Think it was about 50 quid a wheel, but that was a straight refurb, no mods.
-
I read the golf+ and they're always on about fat wheels, they did something similar to a set of merc wheels. Not sure where they're based, but they did my mates ronal turbos for his mk1 via post and they came back mint.
-
Yeah, bloody lucky, but i did have to have 26 stitches in my head! And to rub insult to injury, only one of the subs survived and my amp rack was found up a tree!!!
-
That, and i was kinda scourned when pvw released their cover rallye and then said the g60 was old hat. We'll show them!!! :bad-words:
-
Not a bad plan, but there's a local guy who thinks 8v engines are useless so i kinda wanna see just how far i can shove my car down his throat!!!
-
Do they fit the same though?
-
It depends on the amp youre running. If you look at the specs, it should tell you the amp fuse you need. I usually put between 60-80 amp fuses in. That's enough to cover multiple amps, but will blow if something nasty happens in the engine bay. I've actually got a 60amp breaker in mine, it's dead easy to disconnect and saves money on fuses!
-
YOURE feeling sick? I payed 730 for exactly the same!!!
-
Hopefully, i've got the turbo running at 0.9 bar at the mo and i'm kicking out about 220bhp. But the car has done 135k, so i recon an explosion is imminent inless i go for a re-build!
-
Just don't forget to put a fuse between the battery and the bulkhead, i've seen cars catch fire like that before!
-
Cheers, i'll do that. As for 300bhp, how about pistons, lightened/balenced bottom end, gas flowed/big valve head, boost controller, bigger intercooler, an ihi turbo and about 1.5bar of pressure?
-
There is a nice grommet in the bulkhead, just down from the water pipes, as for earthing, use the biggest bolt you can find for minimal resistance(i find seat belt bolts work well).
-
Not sure if this should be in the wanted bit, but i'm looking to take my g60 off the road for an engine overhaul this winter, and while i'm at it, i thought it would be a good idea to turn it into a 1900, just for good measure (and about 300bhp!). Does anyone know for any pistons that i could use/ companies that would make me some? If so how much, sizes etc?
-
My last install used to get shop windows rattling as i drove by, however, when underestimating a bend on a wet night, they decided to leave the car after hitting me in the head! Morale of the story? ALWAYS bolt your sub boxes down as the back seats offer as much protection as tissue paper!!
-
Totally agree, but unless professionally done it is stupidly difficult to cover all the frequencies in a ported box, you usually need much more cubic space behind the sub too. I managed 142dB in a comp once using 2 120watt rockford amps and a 15' dd sub in a box that resembled a coffin, it was bl@@dy massive!
-
Bl@@dy hell! what sub you running?
-
Right, when wiring you want to keep the main power feed as far from your rca leads as possible so ideally you want to run the power (4 gauge minimum) down the passenger side of the car and the speaker/rca down the drivers side, otherwise you'll encounter all kinds of interference. Everything unscrews nicely and if you take your time at it you can completely hide all unsigtly carpet bulges. As far as boxes go, you'll get a much better frequency response with a non ported box. A ported box will sound much louder at certain frequencies but pants at others. Porting successfully is a black art and you should stick to non ported as they sound nicer and tend to drop a lot lower.

If tastefully done, modded every time. there's a lot to be said for oem+
