    Help asap

Thanks Dave. To remove the suspension you have to undo the top mount from under the bonnet, and two nuts from the steering rack (i think). When we checked the passenger side to make sure we had put it back together right we only undid the two nuts by the brake. We didnt touch the top mount, so why would this affect it? Is it safe to drive on?

Thanks BlueJoe, i was in a bit of a rush when i posted that, but the problem is still there so i have a few pics to help explain better. Got the existing stuff off no problem, and then tried to replace it. Now i have to say that myself and my mate Matt didnt exactly know what we were doing! But we were both willing to give it a go, and we made some measurements in case it all went tits up, so we could return it back to as it was. We removed the old spring no problems; http://public.fotki.com/Nickers/coilove ... pring.html We used the existing mounts on the new coilovers, http://public.fotki.com/Nickers/coilove ... pring.html and put them in place, tightened it up on the top, but it wouldnt sit flush. Couldnt work out why. We spent hours trying different combinations with the mounts and washers etc (prob not the right thing to do) to get it to sit right, but to no avail. So it was getting quite late and i had a date with a bottle of southern comfort, so we thought sod it, well put the old one back on, at least then ive got a car to drive. So put the old suspension back EXACTLY as we removed it, and the same f**king thing happened!! Couldnt explain it!? So we half removed the passenger side to check if we were being tits, decided that what we had done was right, so tightened it back up (bearing in mind we hadnt removed it) and that side did it aswell!?! This is what it currently looks like; http://public.fotki.com/Nickers/coilove ... e_top.html Has this happened to anybody? Does it just take some time to “bed in” or is it fooked? I have driven on it a bit, carefully as im not confident its 100% safe, but i cant think of anything to solve it? Any ideas?

Currently trying to fit my fk highsport coiloevrs to my G60, but weve tried every combination to make it work, but there is still about 4-5 mm of gap on the top mount, so if i were to add the wheel and put it back on the ground as soon as i hit a bump the whole of the susp[ension would move rather than the bit thats supposed to! Any ideas?

    My motors

Have you seen the couple of hot rods that park near tescos in shepton mallet?! Theres a really wide roofless one, thats pretty cool. And then another like ures (perhaps) ina violety colour. I always stop and look, but hae no idea who they belong to.
  6. After farting around, trying to work out whats best, i purchased myself some fk highsports coilies! I figured if im going to buy some, i want some half decent ones, and as i have no idea what condition any of the other parts are like, as the guy who i bought it from didnt know anything about when/why/what and how it was lowered, i thought id do it properly. Also 6 months tax :( £500+ gone, already into the red!
  7. i prefer a car to look standard, but nice enough to make people think; 'I bet that goes alright'. Rather than a load of chrome, 3 spoke alloys and undercar neons.
  8. Purple C driving into Shepton Mallet last night, bout 530. Gave a flash, but no response. :(

    Frustrating!

I couldnt find anywhere that sold weitec kits. Im really interested in finding out more about these. Any body point me in the direction of a supplier? Also, a price for what you paid? Cheers.

    Frustrating!

I forgot to give a few important details. I have a 1.8 G60, and want to raise it to around -40. Can you point me in the direction of who sells H&R Springs and Koni Dampers? thank-you please

    Frustrating!

Ive been searching through the drivetrain section for several hours, literally, and keep going round in circles. I know everything has been covered a hundred times, but please have some patience with me. The sus on mine is awful, i feel every single bump, and round here the roads aren't brilliant, i also have to drive a 40 mile round trip everyday to work. The car came lowered 80mm and on what i dont know, perhaps the previous owner found a way of lowering the car using breeze blocks 'coz thats what it feels like. I have around £300 to spend on new suspension. This is because i have to, before i kill the old guy who i take to work. I was gonna go for some FK highsports, but really cant justify spending that sort of money when i have no intention of showing mine, or continuosly changing the ride height. Also i have limited funds, and there are other things, like an exhaust system that i need to purchase soon. I then considered the supersports or ak kits (going from venom motorsports website) but am unsure if im best of buying bottom spec coilovers, or a decent spring setup. Ive read quite good reports on H&R and Weitec kits, but cant find anywhere to buy these, and so cannot judge for myself. Im also intending on changing them over myself, with the help of a mechanic friend, apart from the tracking. So im assuming that if i buy a whole kit, that comes with anything and everything i will need? Thanks in advance. Nick
  13. i saw a herbie replica, but with the new shape beetle in my local vw garage at the weekend. :)
  14. and also Chrishills comment. It isnt a problem, i was simply trying to bring a few sh*ts and giggles to the forum, by pointing out a thread, that i felt was quite amusing. I read on here earlier that people felt it hasnt been as much fun as it used to be 6 months ago or so. Ive only been on here a couple of months and in that time i have started a few threads asking for help, to simply be told "use the search, thread locked." I have looked, and dont find that particualrly friendly. It was only meant as a bit of humour, not at the expense of homosexuals, but at the expense of the guy who drove the polo. If my humour isnt welcome, i can accept that. But come on...lighten up a little!!
  15. Just lookin on the clubgti forum and saw this topic, thought i might bring it to the attention of a few 'poofy' corrado owners (like myself) to see if perhaps they might disagree...?!lol http://www.clubgti.co.uk/forum/forum_po ... 86995&PN=1
  16. I saw a fairly clean looking green 16valver in a car park in Yeovil on saturday, (opposite chicago rock) about mid-day. Had a private plate, but cant remember what it was.
  17. Dont suppose theres updated pics for this...?
  18. Hold on! My C happens to have one of those "hairdriers" and i dont like the phrase "It didnt let go did it?" What the hell do you mean, it let go?!

    removing side strips

I actually de-stripped mine last week. It took a fecking age!! I had read it takes a while, a hairdrier, and alot of patience, but i didnt think it would take as long as it did. I didnt have a tool or anything, so it was alot of hairdrier use. Im pleased as i think its improved it no end, but i wouldnt do it again!!
  20. I wanted a VW beetle for my first car, didnt happen, then i got a 106 quiksilver for my 2nd car. I bought that one because i like to drive things slightly different, and i thought that this was...i was wrong. It was also the most unreliable car EVER! I wanted something faster, and as soon as i heard that Corrado's came with a supercharger i thought "hmmm, insurance?" I checked and it wasnt that bad, so i went out to only test drive one. I arrived and it was just sat in the road, low and FAT! It was also in fantastic condition and the shape and sound was inspiring.I spoke to my mate who is currently refurbing a Golf mk1 gti, and he loved them, so i was given extra confidence i was making a good choice. After my test drive i found myself leaving a deposit, and with a huge smile on my face. Never looked back. The only problem is i now want a MK1 gti to work on, or a rabbit. I want a VW project, so i can learn everything! lol, but i just dont have enough money!
  21. Wow, that is one sexy car. Really wish mine was black. Ive tried several times by closing my eyes and thinking it is black, bit when i open my eyes its still red... :(
