  1. Hi folks, My friend down in leads has just been told by his mechanic that his VR is pretty much dished engine wise as the head has cracked :(.....I have just replaced the engine in my crappy astra so i know that this can be expensive!!! Thing is the car is pretty much in mint condition otherwise and he wants to try to make some of the money back that he spunked on it (£2800) I told him it would prolly be worth more if he broke it but he wants tro sell whole as he doesnt have the tools to break it....I was wondering what you guys thought would be a fair price for it??? I can post pics if people would like? Its just u can pick up a MK3 for a decent price nowadays........
  2. Its a VR6 by the way.........
  3. Hi Guys been trying to sell my corrado for a while now but no joy :( I have declared it sorn and it has been sitting on private land for some time and the battery has gone dead :( I took some jump leads and charged the battery and immediately the alarm went off! Anyway after charging it for a while i tried to start her and got nothing except a ticking noise from somewhere in the engine bay which i'm pretty sure isnt the starter turning! I think the immobiliser may be disabling the car although i'm not sure?? It has a scorpion system 1018t2 any ideas on how to fix this most appreciated. I have a little red fob thing that looks like it would reset the immobiliser but i'm not sure where it would go?
  4. not seeing a fookin thing mate!
  5. Yeah Johnny failed my mot last feb exact same thing!!!! Got one for a tenner and fitted it mysel wizni too hard and went through second time for about £20 hated handing it over for such an easy fix :bad-words:
  6. Dont know bout the stalling on your c but i have mentioned on here a couple o times bout the ISV playing up....with mine i used to get an dle from 500 -1000 up and down like i was pressing the accelertor then would settle really high i cleaned the isv with carb cleaner and hey presto nice unlumpy idle at about 600 rpms :) I have had to do this twice since i bought the car bout 1 2/2 years ago......Did i tell ya some fucker keyed the side of my car :bad-words:
  7. Thanks for the ideas guys who knows i may giv them all a try..... I may put the car off the road now till i can afford to get it fixed pity the insurance companies dont recognise this kinda thing like they do windscreens etc....
  8. Flat black i think code LO41 i think... had a quote from bodyshop for £400 for whole side plus chips on bonnet filled so have to start saving my pennies.....
  9. K i will give it a t-cut first and see how it looks after.......tbh dont think it will cover the deepest marks. I've had the car just over a year now and loving it so prolly couldnt live wit the marks. Was gonna do soooo many things to it but finding cash tight but maybe this is the kick in the arse i need to get it sorted the way i want....
  10. the whole side ??? It is as i feared a insurance claim me be my best option though i'm not going to be happy paying the excess..........F*&£^%Rs!!!!!
  11. I spent the weekend mostly on the piss after a fall out wit the missus at a friends house and some twat keyed the side of my raddo! The key or coin or whatever has been run right from the rear panel through the door to just above the front wheel arch! It is quite a thin line at point and quite deep at others and i can see white paint through it which suggests to me perhaps its back to the undercoat? Someone mentioned i may get away with giving the car a teecut and see how it shows up after that but i just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else and if so how much you can expect to pay from a body shop to get it fixed proper like Thanx Rickford
  12. soz to get this back up but when you say death rattle wit ya mean....... if i stand back form the car i can hear engine more than exhaust not really loud but there....... cant explain any better wanna undrstand what you guys mean.....

  15. Not necessarily needs changing only cleaning.... i cleaned mine as my idle was running high bout 1250rpm then cleaned it and idle purrrfect bout 750. need to do it again though bout 5 months and 5000 miles down the road :monkey: :bad-words: maybe it needs replaced but at i think it is an expensive part to replace
  16. first and foremost love my c. sounds like a biatch under throttle :) problem i have is at idle i can hear a noise from engine kinda like a chain going round..... i had a mark two golf which i thought had tappet probs and feel this may be the timing belt on the c it has done 107m is this about the time i should be making sure the belt or chain is tensioned properly????any help mucho appreciated Rickford
  17. lol at roger... i here alot of people talking bout vag com on here saying its cheap and easy and the best way to diagnose a fault. Does anyone have vagcom available at track days or shows or is it something that you would have to look at buying yourself?? i live in rural scotland and would love to put my c on vagcom to see if anything was un-toward but would hate to giv it to VW stealers at £45 per hour. I care about my c but as always money seems to be the issue
  18. I was driving to Dundee the other day and when i went to change my cd i hit the blasted curb! it now looks like the trackinghas gone as the wheel sits out at the top. the guy at the garage said that the c has a different suspension set up than most cars is this true? any one else done this?

  22. that wouldnt explain the wetness in the back of the car though..... if it is dry tomorrow i will chack the speaker thing...............wouldnt it be dangerous if it was leaking through the speaker?
  23. noticed the other day after torrential rain in escotia that the floor in the passenger side and rear passenger side floorwell was soaking wet.......not leaking from above as dry any ideas where it might be coming from??? the passenger door sill thingy on the outside is not the most secure could it be coming from there please dont tell me ths c is f***ed as i would need to commit hari kari!
