RIGHT....I dont have ABS had the master cylinder changed for brnad new one on sat morning, system flushed and refilled felt fine on sat afternoon and sunday sunday night hubby borrows (he always breaks it) and takes to work, comes hone this morning and didnt mention brakes I go out and as soon as start off they feel spongy again!! :( rang garage and took it back they had a good look and said that because the back brake had been binding recently, that maybe as he had driven it a fair few miles thatit was poss that the fluid was boiling and causiing air pocket they flushed the system again and there was air from that wheel (although not binding anymore), so said that poss now will need new caliper brakes are now fine again, but if i drive it too far will prob have no brakes again (and we are supposed to be going away for a few days at the weekend in the raddo :( ) So am now having to get new calipers
-
actually los tthe brakes again today so back to garage and find out few weeks ago had a binding brake at back so have been boiling the fluid, hence air so now looking at new calipers :(
-
hi....thanks for you reply, I was only joking when I said 'im just a woman' I am quite knowledgeable with cars, having had this one for 3 years now anyway thanks but itis now sorted, process of elimination and new master cylinder and voila BRAKES again :D

HI, little bit of advice please, last couple of days brakes have become very spongy...they are still there but pedal travel is a long way down to get brakes. Have checked servo and that is fine, have not had any brake work done recently and pads and discs are always done at the same time. And have no leaks anywhere Could it probably be the master cylinder ? any advice would be greatly appreciated...(afterall i am a female!!) :(

Thought i would get some new calipers at that price, I phoned VW this morning and they want £149.00 for a pair of front G60 calipers ?....£40 Back with exchange so £109.00 total. great..maybe we should go to where supercharged buys his from :(
-
the only problem i have with that is when my old mechanic did my goodridge brakelines months ago....(he is now no longer my mechanic as has disappeared*)....he broke the nipple....so instead of contacting me and asking me what I wanted to do..he ripped off the caliper and then replaced it with a golf one!!!!....it works but obviously cannot do exchange for raddo calipers and for some reason I did not get the old caliper so exchange is out of the question....any idea how much without exchange... *He was a really good vw mech but the last few weeks I dealt with him there were a lot of issues and he just vanished and everything was closed up so left me in the sh*t so to say And now am due for mot and getting worried about it failing on this aleady know i need a new cv boot!!
-
just make sure they're not the late 288mm ones the calipers are totally different on those, ATE I think. what about the passats with abs would that make a difference...as I dont have abs on the raddo?

i did think alternator as up to a couple of weeks ago batery was fine...gave him one off one of the raddos but it drained it...did get himto disconnect all amps/subs etc..but made no difference still drained and could not even get it to start using high powered booster.....and if it did only manage to hold it for afew mins before dying again....he has also charge batery overnight and still nothing the next day...i did think alternator as surely if its not charging the battery there is only so much power in it until it runs out. -

LOL, did you wear the old one out?? :) after using him for a good couple of years...the owner of the land he used put up the rent by a massive amount and he decided enough was enough and packed it all in!!!! Extremely unhappy as he was fantastic....just had to phone him anytime with any prob and he would sort out straight away for me.....used him for all our cars plus sons and in-laws... did try to persuade him to do it from home but he's selling up and going abroad!!
