In some cases yes the Moonroof is a good replacement......a lot of Raddos have sunroof problems ie: they don't work any more......mine worked fine but it had been scratched and an early vw passat has a glass sunroof which after a lot of careful juggling with roof linings etc is a perfect and I'd say better replacement......especially when the local scrap yard only charge you a tenner...(they had no idea what they go for!) Very hard to find. My Raddo is definatly male cos he's very agressive!!!! Like most men when they try to race you and get left behind...ha ha!! My hubby doesnt drive 'Bob' much probably because everytime he is out in a car..he has so many near misses witrh other idiot drivers..(well that's his opinion anyway) so I dont let him drive it much....he's got a mk2 golf 16v anyway and a beemer so doesnt need to use mine....and he leaves empty coke cans in the dash!!!! Men!!!!! So if anyone out there needs a sunroof that just needs a re spray (its inca blue at moment) and one that works fine...mail me and let me know I will sell for a reasonable price....

I think i'm the only female Raddo driver in Derby...had 'Bob' for over a year now and before that had golfs (mk2's of course)..never seen another woman driving one round here! Yes i think they are a blokes car but then i'm not into driving girly cars such as MR2's and I'm not a hairdresser so wouldn't touch a Golf cabrio!!!!!!! Wouldn't change it for anything...loved it since the first time I test drove it and despite what men seem to think....I can handle a g60 engine! And as mine has been modded before i got it ...the power seems just normal to me....and its due to be modded again very soon!!!! Get a few looks when you overtake men and leave them standing at lights...they half expect it to be a man driving......but then not all women are cr*p drivers!!!!!

how easy did you find it and what did you do with wires etc have been thinking of doing it but dont know where to start :?

Be quite happy changing a sunroof again but sod the oil let the garage do it!! How do you get to the oil filter?!

TODAY I FITTED MY BARGAIN MOONROOF!!!!!!! Bought from scrappers when searching for beemer bits.....spotted a manky Passat from afar....with a sunroof......thinks "no way is there a moonroof on that"...but guess what....YES THERE WAS......sent hubby to car to get tools.....told him to ask how much cos was not going to pay excessive amount.....took it out.....went to pay....."HOW MUCH?" "THAT'LL BE A TENNER DUCK!!!!!!!" My god never moved so fast......so its been sitting on the back seat of the golf for 2 months....and today decided that it was time to fit......all done and dusted in 2 hours despite the tight fit on the roof lining getting back in....looks great......SO THANKS TO HENNY FOR ADVICE!!!!!...THANKS TO THE SCRAPPERS FOR NOT KNOWING WHAT IT WAS.....THANKS TO HUBBY FOR DOING MOST OF THE WORK!! and thank god it works.....Hope this one doesnt leak!!!! :D

Pulled into pub car park this morning after scaring the pants off mother who thinks that 40mph is too fast.......landlord was just opening doors and came out with his wife....was parked right next to doors as she doesnt like to walk too far...... he said to me " that's nice I've always wanted one of these.....since I was a boy racer......" His wife said "why what is it?" he replied "It's a GOLF with a different body!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "F**king T**t".....I thought. Is this classed as a 'chuftie?'

OKAY...HERE'S ONE FOR THE PENSIONERS.......... A PENSIONER WAS DRIVING HIS CAR DOWN THE M1....HIS PHONE RANG......IT WAS HIS WIFE " I JUST HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT THER'S A CAR GOING THE WRONG WAY DOWN THE M1.....PLEASE BE CAREFUL DEAR!" "S**T!!" HE CRIED....."IT'S NOT JUST ONE CAR....IT'S HUNDREDS OF THEM!!!!" Speaking from experience as my dear old Grandad before he had to stop driving.....drove down the sliproad at an island leading onto the A38....the wrong way!!!!! now that was really scary!!!!!

I totally agree with what was said about women drivers....there are plenty out there on the road who think they can drive and then cut you up when you get near the school gates in their bloody 4x4's......and that's when I'm not in the raddo....typical example there is this woman in her people carrier...(loads of dents)...can see kids walking down pavement...pulls up and then proceeds to reverse park....back wheels now on pavement...kids still walking on pavement.....if parents hadnt pulled them out of the way....well!!!!!!! gets out and goes to fetch her one child from school......obviously had no mirrors or no licence and going by the state of the car no idea how to park never mind drive.....!!!! And another thing why are 99% of golf cabrio's and other cabrio's drivers blonde bimbo's????? and Bloody useless at driving.....they pulll up next to me with their roof down....look over witha a sickly smirk and then think they are going to leave me at the lights..........then as the lights change and you look back they are still sat at the lights...wondering what happenned. women drivers and dont even get me started on pensioners.......are the bane of my life......it's not the men...driving the g60 I tend to get let out at junctions....allowed in in traffic and given the uttmost respect when i leave them standing at the lights......women..give you dirty looks...cut you up....try to run into you..never let you out and more........ AND THAT'S COMING FROM A WOMAN

Yip.Loads of 'rado for sale ads with that blurb.Should read-'missus wears the trousers-she's lookin' for £----. YES WE DO WEAR THE TROUSERS BUT WE ALSO OWN THE RADDO!!! HA! HA!

Not every one who drives a BMW is a wanker...some of us who also own Raddo's are very careful when parking..it makes me sick that you all seem to down on Beemer drivers....My main drive is the raddo of course and I have never parked over two spaces in either car...as for the disabled spaces I wouldn't dream of parking in one of them...for a start most supermarkets now have security barriers so you can't and others have security guards bloody watching everything you do!...I always park either in child spaces (or if I dont have the kids then as far away from everyone else as possible) ...maybe due to the fact that I usually have 3 with me in the Raddo and for all you who think that because you have a Raddo you should not have kids makes me angry...where does it say that Raddo drivers manual that if you have a child you should automatically put it up for sale with a sign that says 'baby forces sale'! Yes it is very difficult getting kids out in a normal space and in some instances getting them out in a kids space is just as bad......because all the bloody old dears have parked there as well....and as they are totallly unable to park or drive...usualy leave about 2" space and cause as much damage as they can as they get in and out of their cars...as experience and a large dent has shown...I usually find that most people even BMW drivers are more courteous and careful than the oldies....so instead of ripping apart beemer drivers and the like try having a go at the real causes of damage in car parks and that is the old Biddies. At least parking as far away from everyone you are more or less guaranteed that no old dear will park next to you ......cos they cant walk that far!!!!!

I've got to agree about mellowing my driving - I'm more bothered about looking after my car (and my family or myself too obviously!) than resorting to pushy driving to prove a point - I'll quite often overly generous and let people through gaps etc even if I've got right of way, especially if someones driving aggresively - I'm quite happy to keep my Golf/Raddo/BMW in one piece than having to go through insurance(thats if they've got any!, police etc , just because some muppet wants to play chicken down a narrow road or to get into a lane first - suppose like most people on here we've invested time and effort our cars I almost believe cos cars are so disposable these days the majority of drivers don't really give a toss...as long as they're egos untouched!

Got to admit, its strange on the BMW side of things as we've got an E34 535 as the family cruiser and indicating plus any form of curtousy totally bemuses people...(because I'm a dub driver by heart!) I despise people not indicating properly and my first piece of anti-beemer road rage the other day was when some knob in an Escort completly cuts me up on a roundbout (no indicators, as usual),to avoid hitting him I just hit the horn in time to aviod certain collision  and apparently I'm a W**ker!- He was obviously such an idiot I didn't even respond and just left him to rust in my dust. If I'd been in the Golf or Rado it would'nt have happened, I'm pretty sure.

My little baby has done either 174000 or 274000 depending on what mood the tacho is in. Going by the history I think its probably the former. And 'Bob' is still going well. But...............................my husband's 16v golf gti has just done over 229000 (thats miles not how much we've spent to keep it running!) :onfire: :onfire:
-
The 16V C is at 115000 (youngster!)

Santa bought me and 'Bob' an nice new set of white dials. He also bought 'Bob' two new Goodyears and paid for tracking as well. So did rather well this year. Will have to be good again next year may get a re-build for charger. Santa bought the golf a replacement BBs alloy so that daddy can have a full set instead of three and a buckled one. And now he doesnt have to mix and match with the valver's alloys. :x-mas: :x-mas: :x-mas:

I don't know about the mash potato but isn't bodger baiting illiegal?

I wouldn't mind my 88' 16v Golf with 229000 less miles on it! (and a heater that worked)

Got a g60 and have finally added an induction kit, slight problem with the carbon filter though as it gets in the way. Is it possible to remove this? And if so does anyone know what this will do if anything and how to remove it safely? Don't want to kill anything in the engine. So any help would be appreciated. :-P
