  1. I would just go with the original ones from dealers. I bought a set over a year ago for £55 I think.

     

    Not a great pic but they looked nice!

     

    I'm looking at b​uying a new set. Does the drivers mat have a heel pad and do you have a part no?


  2. I've owned my Corrado for 8 years now and as I've been completing a few jobs in anticipation of at least some summer this year, I thought it was time I posted a members gallery thread. I'm sure there will be more work to come.

     

    I bought some Solitudes off ebay earlier in the year for £200 but they came recently refurbished and as it would have cost me around £50 per wheel to get my originals done, this seemed like a good option giving me a spare set of wheels for the same money.

    My original tyres were low on tread and the ones on the new wheels were even lower so I had 4 new Hankook Ventus V12 Evos fitted for just under £75 a corner. I don't know how they handle yet but they seem to have had a lot of good reviews so I'm hopeful they will be good.

    Spent some time yesterday cleaning the interior and giving the leather a good clean which has come up pretty nice.

    MOT done in April and had an advisory for corrosion to rear brake pipes so I've replaced them in Kunifer (doesn't corrode like steel and doens't work harden like copper). I decided I may as well replace all the pipes from the ABS pump to all four corners (only advised on rears). If I have to do any future work on the master cylinder I will replace the final two lines from the cylinder to the ABS pump but to be honest they look in good condtion.

  3. During the C's MOT in April I was given an advisory for corroded rear brake pipes so I thought I would fabricate some new ones in Kunifer. After numerous failed attempts at producing a decent 4.75mm DIN flare with a flaring bar I bought one of these:

    Its a superb tool and produces perfect flares every time.

    I guess a lot of C's are in need of replacement brake pipes now so for those who want to have a go at making your own this is the perfect tool for the flaring job.

     

    It would also be useful for small repairs as it can be used on the car as opposed to the vice mounted type where you would need to remove the complete pipe.


  4. The only place they looked like the might have fitted is where the hose screws into the rear caliper but the gap between the hose nut and caliper body is to great to secure the washer.

     

    I don't think they would fit anywhere else.

     

    Has anyone else fitted these hoses to a standard Corrado VR brake setup?


  5. I'm just in the process of replacing all of the brake hard lines due to an advisory on the recent MOT and thought I would upgrade the flexies to Goodridge SS hoses.

     

    I've got the correct set for the standard Corrado rear calipers and have two copper washers that came with the hoses but it's not clear where these are for.

     

    Anyone know?


  6. Thanks for the offer ChrisL but I've just ordered a couple of the eBay ones. At £1.99 each. I can always replace them again if they don't wear too well, who knows, it might trip to the dealers.


  7. If they are the original calipers then the hand break mechanism may well be sticking on. If the discs were glowing hot then the heat transfer could have damaged the abs sensor.

     

    If the abs light comes on once the car is moving it's usually a sign of a faulty wheel sensor.


  8. As others have mentioned there are a lot of Corrados being broken now. Looking on http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk , in the last 5 years the number of cars has reduced from around 4800 down to 2600. I would guess this decline will continue for a while yet until only the looked after examples remain.

     

    I did a lot of driving in mine for the first few years from when I bought it in 2005 but in the last couple of years I've only done a few thousand each year as it spends most of its time in the garage. I'm gradually getting all of the jobs done that I've been wanting to do on it, all front bushes, calipers refurbished, new radiator, stat and housing, just bought another set of refurbished solitudes, rear beam bushes to do (not looking forward to that one) and I'm planning to get the front end resprayed.

     

    I love driving the car but not as a daily. I do around 400 miles a week and as I'm becoming an old bugger I need a little more comfort and fuel economy these days so I drive a 520d E60 as my daily. For turning heads though, the Corrado will always win hands down.
