Put me down for 1 please Matt

No reading indicates the sensor or wiring to it (depending on where you took the measurement) has gone open circuit. It does seem strange though that you would have 3 failed. Has the ABS light come on recently?

The question on my mind is whether these are parts that were just laying around in parts bins in Germany or whether they are actually reproducing this stuff. let's hope it's the latter otherwise once it's gone it's gone!

That Porsche front end is going to look totally out of place on the front of a Corrado, they are worlds and decades apart! If you don't like the headlights then maybe you could change them but the whole front would be overkill.

Shocking!

You have compulsive wheel disorder! :)

I don't know for certain but I would expect the VR beam to have a wider track to match the front plus axle components that were carried over from the Mk3 golf.

Hi,Im having trouble with the rear spoiler motor.
It sticks when going up or down - i.e. it moves in stages.
I stripped the unit down completely, cleaned everything and re-greased using lithium grease.
Even all the carbon dust from the motor and both pipes that the mechanism move along, but the sticking is still there?
Any ideas - could it be the rely?????
The problem will be the thermal trip inside the motor assembly. If you opened the motor up to clean out the carbon you will have seen a green rectangular component in line with one of the brushes, that is the thermal trip. You can remove it completely and just put a link wire in. Providing the motor isn't pulling too much current it will work fine, otherwise it will just blow the fuse protecting that circuit.
Removed mine a couple of years ago now and it's worked fine ever since.

Clarkson also referred to the VR in one of his articles as a £20,000 Ferrari
I think all of those Sweedish motoring journalists must have been smoking pot or something when they tested it

I've just been looking through the bentley and I'm struggling to understand where the adjusters for the lid are, and how to access them - From above with the lid in full tilt??I've 'parked' the roof in the correct position using the manual control - no leak :D
Ollie
You have to tilt the lid upwards and then pull back on the lining panel which will then release. you will then have access to the four torx head adjustment screws.
However, if you have been able to park the lid correctly using the manual control then it sounds like your motor is not syncronised.
To syncronise:
Manually close lid to correct position
Remove motor (leave plug connected)
opeate motor to closed position.
refit motor.
Hope this helps.
-
Thanks for the advise, do you know the best way to synchronise the motor and mechanism?Manually place the sunroof in the closed position.
Before refitting the motor plug it in and run the motor to the closed position.
Refit the motor.
If you have auto closure just lock the car before refitting the motor.
I had a similar problem with mine recently and a replacement motor cured it.

I had the same issue with my storm, and having spoken to VW I was none the wiser... However, me working for a Car parts company helped me out.We have a program which tells you the in's and out's of a vehicle, down to the build spec from the factory.
With this tool I could see exactly what my car left the factory with, including all the Storm special bits and bobs.
If you wanted, I could check your car for you?
If you spoke to your local VW dealer and they were unable to confirm your storm it may be because they have updated their systems and no longer hold that information. A call to VW customer services in Milton Keynes will get you the information required.
As for checking the factory spec, other than the paint code on a mystic blue, the only other discernable item, "bits and bobs" on a storm would be the solitude alloys. I don't even think the colour coded grille is a listed item on the spec sheet. The only other items, the gear surround and rear badges were fitted at the selling dealers so these would not be listed on the spec.
VW is the only definative source for confirmation of authenticity.

Yep, a call to VW is the only sure way to find out.

Black with a green 16v badge on the A40 London bound today about 6.30pm. Would have given a wave but was in my van.

Bonus question to whoever is in the know - I need to replace my rear bearings. I have some gen 16v ones I never got round to fitting before, are these the same for a VR?Cheers,
Nick
The wheel bearings are the same

I need a replacement sunroof motor. The failed Rockwell unit is part no 535 959 731. I have offers of 2 alternatives;a) 1H0 959 731
b) 3A0 959 731 B
They all look to be the same Rockwell unit (comparing the actual old unit to photos of the replacements). The question is, are they ACTUALLY all interchangeable? Please does anyone understand the intricacies of the part numbering system.
All advice gratefully received.
Best wishes
RB
You can use either of the motors you have listed, the first is the original motor fitted which was dropped on the 30/11/95. The second part no. is for the direct replacement.

I'd definately get a genuine VW one. The GSF and similar don't seem to last too long before they are leaking again.
-
tps £126 for heater matrix.gsf £26.10 bit of a differanceThe GSF one must be made of paper mashe!
-
There are two types, one is made by Bosch and the other by Rockwell. The Rockwell version is part No. 1H0 959 731

That's a real shame, it looks like a real nice car in the pics.
Hope you get back into a new one soon.

The bumper will fit, however, the later cars had wider wings fitted to accomodate the plus axle of the VR6 so you will find that the early spec bumper wont fit quite the same where it meets the wheel arch. the later style bumper sticks out more.

I just bought a pair of the veedubmachine ones and they are the same length as the originals. The hole that goes over the pin is a little smaller but pushes on OK.
