  1. Off topic for a second, That was the result of having a few drinks last night after spending the day in the spray booth at work with the 'rado as high as a kite from the paint fumes, sat down with the laptop and photoshop and went away into a world of my own
  2. Mark, Dave got my stainless pipework made up for me and has something like what you are after on his mk1 G60 with a cut out for the C0 pot. He might be able to send you in the right direction. Didn't Gary get one made up in stainless for his G60? As far as I know Conrad can get that sort of stuff up north too.
  3. As far as I remember with an uprated loom you have to disconnect the dim dip resistor for the lights to work correctly, the dim dip resistor is located on the passenger side of the engine bay (RHD car) beside the inner wing behind the headlight.
  4. Is there a lip at the end of your custom pipes to give the Jubilee clip something to hold against? You could do a bit of a bodge job using a polymer based adhesive / sealant such as teroson 9220 to seal and bond the hoses, problem is you would probably not be able to get them apart again!
  5. A friend of mine has a white G60 with a black interior, was it only the blue / black ones that came with the grey interior? :?
  6. Lads, you's forget I work in a coachbuilders, we retrim cars  Rear parcel shell has been re-trimmed in Mecedes sierra grey, best match we had in stock, so no more ugly 6 * 9 holes  The carpets are just going to need a good cleaning and that will be the interior sorted for the time being, engine bay cleaning started so she's getting there

    Gearchange.....

Just out of curiosity, would a cable change passat have the same circlip? My local vag dealer takes an age to get parts in so if I'm missing this one a secondhand one could be a nice quick fix while I wait  Second gear does not like to be rushed similar to whats been described here, so hopefuly thats my problem!
  8. Had a look last night, the central locking actuator in the boot seems to be stuck and is leaking, so that seems to be why the pump runs on for a while.
  9. Hi Mark, Finally moved on from the Polo and followed the rest of ye to Corrados  @ Gibber, thanks for that I'll have a look later, still don't have the boot lock complatly figured out, mine seems to have 3 positions, _ l and / if that makes any sense, I take it it should go more like _ l _ ? taking the lines to represent the angle that the key sits at, the boot opens with the ket at / but the key can not be withdrawn :?
  10. Cheers for that, I'll try the conections and see if I can find anything. Should the boot un-lock with the central locking? Mine doesn't :?
  11. Just looking to see if there is anything obvious I should check first or if its normal, but my central locking pump (right hand side of the boot behing the carpet) runs on for about a minute after locking or unlocking the car, its like its not getting a signal to stop for a while, could it be a loose vaccum connection or where should I look first? I already tried searching the previous posts but did not find anything yet.
  12. Well off the top of my head the alarm may have been put into programing mode, which can happen if the ignition is switched on when the battery is reconnected (I think thats how it worked) long and the short of it is that if the alarm went into programing mode it will have forgotten the code of your remote/s so they will not disarm it. The keyfobs can be re-learned but I don't know the sequence to do so, I can see if I can get a sigma progrmaing sheet for it but I'm not sure if I could, something similar happened to mine & I was going to have to get new remotes but it made more sense to ditch it and get a new alarm.
  13. Well not today, but yesterday I washed and polished her, replaced the broken MFA stalk and refitted some loose bits of trim.
  14. Which series sigma alarm is it? SG1 / SG2 / SG3? SG1's have a key to manually switch them off SG2's have a keypad with flush buttons to program / over ride SG3's have a similar keypad but with raised rubber type individual butons. I've had all 3 at one stage or another  but back to the point, a friend of mine installs them and I may be able to find out how to reset it if I know which series it is  Sounds to me like its in "super lock" mode where the keypad will not unlock it and you need to enter your pin number, try that if you can remember it, thats assuming its an SG2 or SG3.
  15. I'll check the colour out and let you know if you's are right. @ Richard, All in good time, I need to wait till the money I spent buying it is forgotten about before I can get away with spending more  @g60griff, it is indeed :)
  16. Should have mentioned the G60 badge had since been re-located to the correct position  Don't know what it was doing way up there and on the wrong side
  17. Just picked her up on Friday night and got it back home late Saturday night, I'm not sure what colour it is as of yet, have to check out the colour code, but its a 91 G60 with a very clean cloth interior (no drivers seat wear) charger was rebuilt but I'm not sure what spec at this stage, all electrics work and its got a full stanless exhaust, think its probably a powerflow one, won't know till I have a good look underneath it. Its not the cleanest in these pictures as it had not been washed or polished at this stage. I plan to do some general tidying and then see where it goes from there.
  18. And if the rolling radius is the same it will fit in the boot, although you will not be able to put the carpet on top of it if you had a space saver.
  19. That just about sums it up Richard, More power than an 8v and worse brakes than my mk1 Caddy  It should be interesting when comparing the G40 to the G60, I've been driving Polo's for the past 8 years so I'm probably just well used to the brakes and handling
  20. The Audi 50 was launched before the mk1 polo, 30th August 1974, the Polo was launched in Germany in 1975 and the UK in 1976 as a budget version of the Audi, it outsold the Audi so in 1978 the Audi ceased production and the Polo carried on. Technically they are the same car under different badges.
  21. The brakes consist of 239mm vented up front (basically mk1 GTI) and drums at the back, the main problem with the polo brakes is the pedel feel, due to the restricted space in the engine bay on the RHD models on the drivers side resulting in a small brake servo, incedently this was the reason for the mk2 G40 not being made in RHD, back in those days the RHD polo had no servo at all and it was deemed too dangerous to sell G40 powered cars with non assisted brakes, but I degress so back on to the topic. Polo brakes are reasonable if the drums are adjusted properly, the only difference between the LHD and RHD brake setups is the servo size, so it just means on the RHD ones the pedel needs to be pressed that bit harder. The suspension is actully Audi 50 based as is the chassis, with the addition of rose jointed front track control arms, a thicker rear axle with an anti roll bar and lowered and uprated springs.
  22. Don't think its Karls car, that pic has been on my pc for five years at least, it came off one of the early G40 sites thats long gone now.
  23. LoL, this thread has gone a bit mad alltogether. Now that I have a G60 as well as the G40 (another charger to worry about  ) I'll be able to make a better comparison. :D
