  1. Hi Guys! I've put in Osram Silverstars in mine and bought an uprated loom off a guy from ebay.... like this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Corrado-golf-m ... dZViewItem Not with proper OE plugs, I had to chop into the loom. ...But I've almost gone through a few 5 bar gates on the country roads in the dark on my way home...and thats fogs, and full beam headlights on. Dip the headlights and I might as well be using the force. All the bulbs are fine and the loom's wired in correctly. The reflectors a bit fecked one side, and the back cap got left off the other side so it got some water into it. I'm going to replace them soon with later spec ones! there's got to be a cheaper option than night vision... Could it be that my battery's not got enough charge...99% of the time I've got my headlights on when I'm driving this time of year. Does the supplier on the forum do proper 'plug and play' looms??
  2. Cheers Henny! Its all running well now...forgot how good it sounded with the milltek on...just need to get it a bit quieter! :)
  3. its the idle.....ajusted with the bts disconected bts....is that blue temp sensor? If so...hurrah... I did it properly! :) Cheers! :)
  4. Sorry for the cheeky thread high jack... ...is the screw that also has a 6mm hex head on it on the back of the G60 throttle body a mixture screw or an idle screw? I've been fiddling with it and am not sure whether I should have done now!
  5. My standard centre section was the same setup as the milltek (pipe straight from decat to centre box) Are they supposed to have a third box? That sounds promising! from your sig I notice you've got a milltek exhaust from the manifold back...how loud is it, and is it the same set up as mine? Cheers guys! :)

    Pollen Filter

Yep I was talking about a Jetex one. And mine doesnt have A/C either! :)
  7. Alright all! Had to take off the standard exhaust and refit the milltek as the standard one broke! (Long story! :) ) Am thinking I quite like the car with the milltek back on, goes well, sounds good etc... ...but its just too loud, which is why i took it off on the first place! I've got a cat replacement pipe, which attaches to a bit of pipe, that goes straight to a small centre box, then another that goes to the back box. Like this: (Please dont mock my artistic skills!) So, the question is: 1) Can I get a CAT replacement pipe with a silencer on it, or are they all just 'a bit of pipe' 2) If I can't, can I get a silencer box to replace the bit of pipe? I was thinking I could go to someone like powerflow, and they could either put 1 box in 1 of the locations (pipe/decat) or both, or a long one covering them both. Its toooooooooooo loud! :) Any ideas?? :) Cheers, Tom
  8. Back from the test run.... ...feels just how it should do! smooth all throught the throttle position and on idle (although it idles too0 high at the now!) :D :D :D I'm pretty sure it was the exhaust problems that were causing it, I guess it was messing with the back pressure or the lambda probe or something. But now the car's pretty loud again...but it does sound sweet! If I took the car to powerflow could they put a silencer box where the cat used to be to quieten it down a bit? One Problem though....its taking a little while to reutrn to idle now. I had a fiddle with the idle adjustment screw and I think I've sorted it, but can you reset the ISV like on 8v digi's? (IIRC it's disconnect the blue temp sensor and rev the engine over 3k 3 times???) Cheers for your input guys, think I'll still change the CTS if its not too expensive just to be on the safe side, but *fingers crossed* it seems to be ok! :) I love my C again! :)
  9. Ok, I stripped down the ISV and Throttle body today, cleaned everything up with carb cleaner, checked all the wires and connections and re wrapped some of the wiring in tape as the old stuff was a bit knackered. My exhaust has been making a really odd noise for the last week or so I took it off to have a look... ...the centre box (the one under the passenger seats) had snapped where the pipe meets it and looked like it was leaking a fair bit Could that have caused the probs? I've got the miltek back on now so we'll see what happens! Which side does the vaccum hose need to be connected? I'm guessing the inlet manifold side of the butterflies as opposed to the charger side? The other one definitely went to the Carbon Canister and is now blanked off, but I guess I could have blanked off the wrong one! Gonna take the car for a spin and see how its running. :) :) P.S. Just had a thought...it could well be overfueling, as it does have a habit of producing flames when I change out of 2nd or 3rd over 6k. I'll check it out!
  10. The Chips a SNS Stage 5 (??) The anti lag one, with a 68mm pulley. How much are the Blue temp sensors? Might go to VAG in the morning and order one! Cheers, Tom
  11. Also, could the CO pot cause it? :)
  12. Hi All! Before I start...I've searched loads on this topic, there seem to be lots of similar problems, but no one quite seems to have the same problem or have solved their problems with bits I've already changed. Basically sometimes it'll idle terribly, as you come off the throttle the needle drops right down, almost cuts out but doesnt, then sits well below 1k and fluctuates alot (more than it should!), meanwhile the car shakes and it sounds like its misfiring. Also, when you're moving, when the revs are around 1k to 3k ish, the car jumps, again like its misfiring. But only when you're really lightly on the throttle. Nail it and its smooth as anything, but just a tiny bit and it feels terrible. For example sometimes I have to drive round town in 2nd/3rd as it can't hack it in 4th/5th. When I bought the car I fitted new bosch plugs, new GSF leads, a new rotor arm and dizzy cap. Also bought it a brand new manifold to ECU pipe which is exactly 1m Initally I though it was a dud lead, so bought a another set of leads from GSF but no change. Also when you're on a long run sittting at 80 (ish) on the motorway its fine, but then when say you come to a roundabout and have to stop and put the clutch down the idle is awful again. Timing seems fine and if it wasn't I would have thought it would cause the problem all the time, not on and off. I've replaced the Fuel filter and its nearly always run on BP ultimate (seems to run a lot smoother on that!) or V power or other Super Unleaded, and I often has injector cleaner run through it. The fact that its kind of intermittent makes me thinks its vaguely electrical (Could well be to do with temp as it seems to idle fine when I fire it up in the morning, and seems to only do it when the engine's warm) But I'm 99% sure its not the HT Leads/Dizzy/Rotor Arm/Plugs etc. So... 1) Is there a microswitch on the throttle body like the mk2 golf digi's? 2) I'm thinking it could possibly be the blue coolant temp sender if it is connected to engine temp. 3) Could it also be the Lamda Sensor? I don't know much about these as my old golf didn't have one! Does the ECU ignore any info sent from this until its warm? That would tie in with engine temp. 4) When I went to GSF they told me they had 2 dizzy cap's listed for the G60...does it make a big difference if I bought the wrong one, and how can I tell if I've got the right one? 5) ISV? Think its fine but are they as dodgy on these as 8v's? Agian...can't see why that would be intermittent. Please help, its not a happy bunny at the moment! If I need to cross more things off the list...whats the best to do next, coolant temp sensor I guess? Lambda maybe?? Cheers, Tom

    Pollen Filter

I've put one on mine and it doesnt seem to restrict the air flow too much, mind you my air flow was pretty crap to start with! It went black after one month...just goes to show how much gunk would have gone into my lungs if I hadn't bought it! Does anyone know how to clean them?
  14. Cheers for that Steve VPK. That was lucky, as I was just about to order a new milltek system, thinking thats what I wanted. gsbellew...I was going to put it up for sale, and probably still will, but I might try and get a proper decat pipe and see if its quiter with one of those on, as the standard exhaust isn't much quieter!
  15. I Screwed my handbrake tunnel in at the front, one on each side really low down so you can't see them at all. 1 thing though, you have to take the front seats out to get the tunnel off! :) I thought you could buy special vinyl paint to paint dashes/interior plastics etc?
  16. Ok...I'll get some on if I have time before I go down the pub, otherwise I'll put them on when I get back (might be a bit wobbly though!) :)
  17. Hi All! Just fitted a standard exhaust to my Corrado and taken off the stainless system. But I have no idea what make the stainless exhaust is! It has 2 boxes, with serial numbers MSVW232 and MSVW233, and an Oval tailpipe. The fact that it has a serial number/part number with VW in it makes me think its not a custom (i.e. powerflow etc) system, but desgined specifically for the car. First thought was magnex, but it doesn't look like one of theirs, and there's a different part number on their website. Any other ideas? Milltek perhaps? :? I'll get some picks up soon! One more thing..... my car has a 'decat pipe' (i.e. bit of homemade pipe welded to where the cat was) Do proper decat pipes have small mufflers on them? As I've seen some with a bulge rather than a straight pipe. Will they be much quieter? Cheers! Tom
  18. On that note, does anyone want to buy my Giro Valve?? Cheers for the info Henny!
  19. Do they work for alley key bolts too?? May have to get a set of those! :)

    what oil filter?

VAG use mann oil filters. :)
  21. Bugger Again. Had a go with the 3mm allen head bit with a ratchet on the side that hadn't rounded. Now the end of my 3mm allen head bit is located in the driver's side rear shock. Sod it I thought, I'll have a go with a torx bit on the rounded one... Whacked it in with a hammer, felt nice and tight, I was starting to think it was gonna work... Now the end of my torx bit is located in the passenger side rear shock. So they're pretty stuck in there! Time to get the drill out I think! :x
  22. Was thiking about that, just a little worried as I then won't be able to tighten it up again! If I do that, can I replace it? Gonna try the torx bit method I think, forgot about that!
  23. Cheers for your help. Unfortunately they've already been rounded so I can't get them undone...bugger! No lower for me then. Is there anyway round it? They're a bit to small to be trying the usual tricks with rounded allen head bolts.
  24. Hi all! Got my new wheels on, but now they're on i want to drop the back down a bit. I didn't get a key/spanner to adjust the height with the car, but took the wheel off to have a good look at the strut. There seems to be a metal collar below the spring, with what looks like a 3mm allen key grub screw in one of them. Is it just a case of undoing the grub screw and twisting the collar? The grub screw looks a little rusty so I don't want to round it! Also...which way is lower?? I'm guessing winding the collar down the strut will make it lower? Cheers, Tom
