    Exhaust Mounts

Thank you 'Supercharged' that's what I needed to hear. One more thing (without going home to look!) how many are there all together? Looking at the Powerflex web site; I definetly need at least One 'EXH 006 75mm' for the rear box. and Two 'EXH 007 75mm'. I'm not so sure as to how many I need nearer the front of the system? (If any?) http://www.powerflex.co.uk/exhaust.asp Thank you

    Exhaust Mounts

I've found a couple of American web sites selling the Chain type hangers, but no UK companies?

    Exhaust Mounts

Over many years of Corrado ownership I've replaced my perished mounts/hangers countless times. I've always replaced like for like, as the standard mounts are only a £1 each. I have a standard (heavy) VW exhaust. What I'd like to know, has anyone used the Powerflex High Performance Mounts? How long do they last? Are there any other makes of polyurethane Mounts that are recommended? http://www.powerflex.co.uk/exhaust.asp Cheers Smiffy

    Distributor Cap

I replaced the complete unit, rotor arm and all. The arm was well worn and if I remember rightly lots of flakes of metal fell out when I opened it up. Perhaps a cheap and quick fix would be to look at the arm and only replace that if it's needed.

    Distributor Cap

Does anybody know the life expectancy of the Bosch Dizzy cap on a 1.8 16Valver? I do recall replacing my current one about 5 years ago. I was very pleasently surprised with the performace and running of the car after it was fitted. I must have put at least 40K miles on her since. I do have good leads and plugs and was considering spending a few quid before the worst of the weather. She runs OK, but I have some money to spend on her, kind of a preventative purchase
  6. Any luck with the video? If you need any help with editing/encoding/codecs/formats whatever, I can help. Im looking forward to watching it.
  7. If it isn't called a Corrado I won't buy one. Rivo? In my opinion it sounds like a 'cheap, small, French car!' Maybe VW have already lost faith in their new design, hence calling it a Rivo. Why would a car based on a classic be named differently? - I can imagine the project manager at VW saying - "We'd just as well call it something new, as it has no direct comparison with the Corrado." That said, if the design is a success, I'm sure the name Corrado will live on.
  8. I'm going to replace the standard brake hoses on my car, my mechanic said they've ballooned at both the top and bottom! I've never had to replace them before, so I might as well go for a quality product. Can anyone please tell me what the product code is for Goodridge Hoses on a 1990 16V Corrado? Oh, I have Mark4 rear calipers, will this effect what I buy? Many thanks Smiffy
  9. Right Guard or Lynx? Yes, at the bottom of the airbox. So, I don't need it?
  10. Hello all The new gas flowed head on my 16Valver has no-where for the warn air return hose to connect to. The back of the air box now has just a short 2" open pipe. Would a custom part help the idle and stop the smell of petrol?
  11. 6.6 seconds..not bad for a big old boy! My Corrado only does about 18miles to the gallon...I do seem to rag it everywhere though. The Audi looks more of a cruiser, drive at a sedate pace, but when you need it there's loads of power!
  12. Hello All I'm concidering buying a new money eater. Does anyone know the performace figures for the A8 range? Is the A8 4.2 40V the same car as the 4.2 V8? This looks nice, a big car for Ronin about in http://www.pistonheads.com/ads/detail.asp?i=41204&s=35 What is the general consensus on Audi's?

    What trumpets?

Thanks, I'll probably buy and fit some from Halfords on Saturday morning. cheers

    What trumpets?

I've finally fixed the horn on my car. But I think it needs new trumpets. The low tone seems squeeky, kinda like a clowns car....no good! Instead of buying a straight VW replacement, what are my choices in terms of getting a good loud aftermarket horn? Something that fits straight on.

    Not so horny

Nice one mate! Yeah, St Albans is close. I'll have a look Friday evening, if I don't get it sorted I'll private post you my number. Thanks
  16. Used the Meguiars Quick detail Clay -easy to use and the finish really is like glass, feels real smooooth. It got rid of all the white paint spots. I also used the Three step cleaning products, paint restorer, polish and then wax. Very impressed with the finish.

Could be a wire? I'll have a look. I did replace a headlight lens a little while ago, the headlight sits ontop of that part of the loom. But wouldn't the fuse have blown if there was a worn wire?

    Not so horny

Will check with multimeter. Gonna try and sort it out next week, I have a week off before I start my new job. My Corrado will well and truly be a weekend toy for tinkering with! thanks

    Not so horny

I have never taken the wheel off, however, I did have a new ignition barrel about a year ago, not sure if my mechanic had to touch the steering column?...but the horn was working directly after. Have noticed the brass ring behind the wheel, not really examined it to see exactly how it works, will have a good look this evening! Thanks

Thanks mate. Relay 11 is correct. Has the number 35 printed on it. Tried another "35 relay" in position 11 last night, both horns still don't work. Fuse is OK. Fed power straight to the horns from the battery and they both worked! Have taken the cover off the steering wheel and checked all connections looks ok, but could still not get the horn to sound. I will have to check beyond the push button (Horn cover). What should I look for if I remove the steering wheel? Would the wire become worn on exiting the bulkhead?

good idea! I'll pop round to a local garage at lunch time

    Not so horny

Trying to fix the horn on my C. Checked all connetions on the steering wheel, looked fine. The fuse is Ok and after searching the forum I've found there is also a relay? Thought I might as well replace the relay, as I have no way of checking it! I've been given a part No. 141951253B £15 -this is relay Number 11. But, looking in the manual it suggests the relay for the horn is No.6 Any ideas? If its not the relay I'll have to buy new horns.
  23. Sorry to here that phil It seems you have tried most of the mods I have paid for. My car is really lumpy on idle, tried adjusting the idle screw/cleaned the isv checked all hoses...usual stuff people bang on about....still no good. If I slow down from a high speed, (approach a roundabout) she wants to stall, I have to blip the throttle to keep her from doing so....sounds good, but I end up looking and driving like a twat, (fair enough if the car pulled away like 169bhp should and I could compete with other cars on the road) -I can't pull away quickly like I did when she was standard, due to a lag in power delivery, I end up flooring it in first upto 7000rpm to pull out on a roundabout. Probably gonna give up with this corrado now.....would like a VR6 (I always new I should have bought one) Its a real shame, after owning my car for four good years with no mods, I have spoilt it by trying to make it faster. never again.....I will from now on buy standard cars and keep them the way they were designed :(
  24. Well, after over a week of driving her, I can clearly say, the Corrado 1.8 16V with over £1300 spent on engine mods, seems no faster than she was before the mods! Well pissed off....What a waste of time and money? A friend of mine is away for a month or two.....I will be looking after his car, an Impreza WRX turbo Prodrive (fairly new).....Let's see if I give it back when he has served a few months for being a bit naughty.
  25. Grant personally delivered my car back to me at work today. What a difference! The mild cams pick up better at lower revs. A new engine mount (supplied and fitted free of charge) helped the replacement manifold clear the steering rack. After a few weeks waiting I feel I can finely relax and start enjoying the car agian.
