I've amped my fronts and 10" tube sub..... To be honest mine still sounds a bit boomy on occassions. I messed with the x-overs a bit on the headunit and amp, sounds better but still a little like that. To counteract that I guess you need some mid-bass (hence why your 6x9's help) but amping the fronts will help you get more out of them I guess. More bass though depends on your speakers. I've got some Alpine 13cm fronts and tweaters that seem ok, but not nearly bassy enough.

I was even desperate enough to try the manual myself.... and that's bad ;) Nothing I can see about this though. Maybe I'll just run a new RCA to the amp input as it's got spares and all the speakers run from this.

looks like the pink/black cable is called "audio interrupt in" which is used for the phone to mute things when a call comes in. Perhaps this would be of use if I can get the sat nav to input on this cable..... Is this another way to input or just a signal cable :?:
-
Well the aux works fine.... but I want the aux input and the CD/tuner to work at the same time. So it's not really a problem with the Aux as such.... Plus the guy that installed mine was a bit or a moron so I'd rather do the work myself this time ;) Thanks for the hint though... I should get a wiring diagram I think....

Connect the orange lead to what ? Sorry, not exactly a headunit wizard... had to pay to get the system installed. I was thinking to either run a new cable to the amp in the boot specially for the SatNav or putting a plitter on the one for the headunit (it only runs off 1 output) and put both on this. Probably better to do the first option, though the orange cable sounds good as well ;)

Ok finally got my GPS cradle working and the only thing I have an issue with is when I'm pumping out the tunes, I can't hear the thing. Even at full whack the IPAQ and cradle speaker fail to even get my attention... So like a true Audiophile, instead of just turning the music down I want to play. So does anybody know how (or even if) you can get the Alpine to play a CD at the same time as accepting an input from it's AUX port.... If all else fails, does anybody know a good Alpine forum :?:

Well I've not driven a VR but I've had my G60 for a few months now and think it's great. Yeah they're always playing up, but nothing that's gone wrong on mine is major, or something that couldn't have blown on a VR anyway..... Mines at 192k and feel very solid, so mileage is always down to the way it treated....

Because it only reacts on boost... when you're going fast and not wanting to look away from the road at the centre console ;) At least a guage on the pilar is a quick glance and nothing more
-
I was looking to get a single pod for the window.... but not sure what to go for as mines LHD. Maybe the ashtray replacement is the way to go. Although not good for a boost gauge.

I have one with a torn part on the cable and it's causing issues..... don't bother trying second hand as they're all torn up (as I've found).

ok.. odd feeling as soon as I saw that bridge.... Is that near Linz in Austria ??? -
ahha.... finally a use for my new voltmeter
-
Ok, could be the battery connections as after the battery was replaced it was fine.... then as the alarm was replaced it started again. So looks like the alarm fitter was sloppy. I'll check the alternator belt as well though... Thanks for the hints....

Ok, another item to add to the "need to fix at somepoint" list.... Quite regularly when I'm sitting at traffic lights, I can see the dash lights and the headlights flickering slightly. This isn't a problem when moving, and it's had a new heavy duty Varfa battery installed a few weeks back. Is it something to do with the alternator ? maybe a replacement/upgrade is in order..... any idea of cost ?

Umm... nice, if you like ugly things

I don't think from my research on the forum, that we ever got the definative values. It's all up to your choices.... Mine are 32/30 now though, and it feels better.
-
Consider yourself lucky.... mines always on unless I disconnect the horns  Gonna take off the stearing wheel this weekend and look at the connections.
-
yeah they're different....
-
He sent mine out before Christmas, so he's still about. I know he had supplier problems though, so don't dispair...
-
I have a map to poland.... should be all sorted then  Hmm tyre sizes eh... are 205/40/17's not a good choice then ?
-
It's spooky..... but I have a 1990 G60 in Metallic black with exactly the same wheels. I better not park my car next to your else whe'll have problems.... Love it BTW.... maybe mine will look so good once I've finished playing ;)
-
What is it with Christmas and random things.... Had the same sort of thing, except whenever I turn the car on the horn sounds constantly

Hmm.... Because Germany and Austria are the two most expensive second hand car markets in the world. I bought my Rado here so I didn't have to pay big money for it out there.
-
Ok, moving to Germany in the new year and been looking up some information online about things.... I can handle the import paperwork, boring but ok. However I've been told that the German MOT is very hard on the car, much more so than the UK version. So has anybody had any experience in this matter ? anything special I should avoid.... Things I'm worried about :- Tyre depth... I have 195/40/R15 Lowering... Lowered 40mm Speedo.... I have UK spec with both MPH and KPH Also anybody know of this supposed 185bhp cap on cars.... somebody told me anything above this and insurance will laugh at me ? Thanks guys 8)

I'm not sure I want to know what you're doing to that snowman.... ... and it's not real snow we have in the UK...... it's 40cm deep over here in Austria right now
