  1. All wear parts have been changed on the car so only had about 6-7000 km (max) on the clock after the rebuild - including clutch/bearings etc, so I guess I'l just go with the "needed" to get that seal replaced :) btw - does the top cover have to come off as well - or can that stay on for this fix ?. cheers!
  2. Does the top cover have to be taken off when doing this ? or can I get away with removing gearbox, lower cover and re-install that seal ?. Also is it sealant around the cover or was it gaskets on these VR6's - can't remember :) If I'm not mistaken what I would need is: 068 198 171 repair kit for sealing flange The bolts for the flywheel, oil pan gasket, and then the sealant/gasket for the lower chain cover?. Anything else I'v forgotten ?. (The chain etc have been replaced before so won't be needing replacement (only around 6-7000 km since) - not sure but I sadly *think* that seal was a non VW seal.....:( Does the coolant need to be drained (read something about a bolt beiing hidden by a part on the thermostat housing) :) Had a look today, the covers seem dry (from what one can see), also the bolts for the oil pan seem to be thight (and looks like the oil is just "following" the gasket to the middle front) - feel quite confident it's the seal in that lower cover :(
  3. Any idea if this leakage is of any "danger" ? (As I was thinking about a trip around Germany a bit later this summer, and was thinking about taking the Corrado - but a bit uncertain now :( ), as I'm not sure if I get the time to replace this seal before the trip. Had the lower dust cover off today just to have a look inside, and the leakage doesn't seem to be very big - but there is always some drops after a drive, so suspect the leakage being active under driving.
  4. Do you know if these covers have like 3 "prongs" for guiding it in place - heard it can be on some VW engines, where it is advisable to replace the cover itself - but IIRC there is no "prongs" on the VR6 cover?.
  5. Anyone got pics of the Timing chain cover (with the rear main seal - or what one call it). Also anyone remember if the cover is in two parts upper/lower - and can one remove only the lower one when replacing the seal? - as the chain have already been done, but sadly looks like the new seal has a small leak I want to fix :(
  6. I thought maybe it was a small leakage coming from the sealing ring on the side of the chain - but just had a closer look and it actually seem like a oil sump gasket leak (fingers crossed :) ). Read a bit around of Vortex and some seem to sugest using a "gasket on tube" type of thing. Any of you have any experience with this ? - eventually any part number for VW's stuff on this ?. And will this completely replace the gasket, or is it a sealant that is supposed to be used with a gasket ?. I have a spare Victor Reinz gasket laying around so could fit that - but if this sealant thing is a better solution I'd rather do that. Any sugestions and part numbers would be appreciated! :)
  7. As I'm buying new speakers to fit the original speakers mounts - what would be the best way ?. Coaxial with a 5.25" in the door and tweeters in the dash. Or can one go with 2x components, where there is 5.25 in the door and 4" in the dash ? - or will this not work properly ?. (I presume the coaxial realy where ment for a 1 speaker setup?).
  8. Any tips on amps that will fit anywhere one could "hide" it ? I'v looked at the Focal FD 4.350 which seem to be small and also a small Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4 - but read somewhere the Rockford might get extremely hot. Is it better to get a physical bigger one - and any tips on where to hide it - I have been thinking back of the mid console, but I guess that limits the size of it :)
  9. Can't remember the amount needed for a complete changeout of brake fluid - is 1 litre can enough?. (including fluid for the clutch cylinder)
  10. yea probably - but do feel free to post any images that will show access to the AC compressor - botg from top and bottom. cheers!
  11. Yea, talked to a guy that does thiese kind of servicing and looks like he's able to do the repair, and fill it up again etc.....so should get worked out :) - thnx
  12. Not sure if this was the right place to post it - but was wondering if some of you guys happen to have a picture that shows how it is to get access to the AC compressor on the VR6 (I'm not at the place the car is at the moment, so can't get a pic myself) - as I need it for a service guy that's going to do a replacement of some o-rings on the compressor. He was wondering how hard it was to access (I think it should be "OK" but.....). Thanks
  13. Anyone know if it's supposed to be any filters in the intake for the air to the cabin on the corrado ?. Eventually - is it located in the air duct or what ?. What part number does it have if it exsists :)
  14. From the wires they have spliced together to me it seem like only one of the two wires (that used to go to the tweeters)) are spliced together - the other wire goes out into connectors that goes nowhere. Does it only require one of them to be spliced up or what ?.
  15. Is 20.35 a "size" - at least that was what the dealer gave me for dimensions.
  16. I'v gotten a confirmation that the seals are the same on another Forum. Any of you guys know if there are available thru VW in UK? (and maybe price) - anywhere one could order them online from VW in UK ?
  17. Not sure - mine is like the "top" one of the ones pictured here: The lines seem to be secured in place with a bracket and one screw - marked 12A on the picture. But having a hard time figuring out what o-rings are used here, and the dealer say they can't get them here (the norwegian dealers don't always carry all of the older VW parts, even if they are available from VW...:( )
  18. What's ment by: "NOT coaxile as all the sound will be by your feet" Any links to the different speakers you used yourself ?. Also how did you fit the dash speakers ? (and size)
  19. Thanks - the first link here seem to be a good starting point for me :)
  20. yea, saw that one - but don't think it addresses the problem I have (the links in the thread seem to not be found).
  21. Anyone know how these controls work. Will the current flow thru the thin "plate" that slides alongside the copper "half moon" - or what to call it or anything else?. Mine doesn't work on speed 1, and I suspect it have something to do with the metal parts not making contact. Are these fixable ? - can the biggest copper part be removed from the plastic - so get a look at the back side of it ?. Any other tips appreciated. I have searched but couldn't find anything about this problem.....:(
  22. I think I actually got a pair of those in my older Passat - so will have a look, but are they any "good" - also what is original in the door ? - is it only a bass element or a two way speaker ?. - will a 2-way speaker work if it's hooked up via these tweeters ?. I'l get back to you if I would need em :)
  23. Is it actually possible to secure by screws? (see image attatched): Also the cut wires on the picture - anyone know where they go ? (I suspect they are some speaker wires that someone have tapped into at one point in time - but not sure)......
