Can't see any damages to it, doesn't seem to be cracked or anything - and I actually think it have been replaced just a little while before I bought it. So should only have done roughly 7-8000km

The car is a 1995 VR6, just turned 130 000km today (roughly 81 000 miles), AFAIK the ignition leads where quite new when I got the car - and it's only been driven 6-7000 in my ownership.....but this problem have always been there... it will always start, but sometimes need to crank for a little while... also this one have coilpack
-
Could it be caused by a cam shaft sensor ? (or should these show up in VAG-COM)?. I'm also thinking maybe it might be bacause of the cone filter that sits on the MAF - and was thinking about trying to go back to OEM filter. I'v got no errors on vag-com, and the fuel consumption seem to be ok, idle seem to be ok, and everything but this small annoyance that I have to crank it for a while before it fires.....1-2-3 sec cranking.

Anyone know if some of the VR6 ECU's are compatible with eachother ?. ex mine is this one: Would I be able to use ex: 021 906 258 CG Any list of compatible models anywhere? - and also what is the difference between them ?.

Here is a guide for a jetta/golf - but pretty much the same thing on the Corrado - maybe a bit less to remove (can't remember) - but sits the same place etc: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3421753-Here-is-an-ignition-switch-removal-procedure

Currently looking into this problem mysekf with my corrado, have started to think about cam position sensor and/or engine speed sensor, but would have thought vag-com would show some errors on those ?.....

Just saw this interview - and was thinking of posting the quote - thought it was quite cool anyway :) And in the end I guess Clarkson have a soft spot for the Corrado - he used to own a Scirocco back in the days (there where a Top Gear episode he showed a picture of himself in the youth with the Scirocco - can't remember episode though)....:) But fun comment non the less :)

Not sure if this has been posted before - but here is the playlist of the restoration Castrol did of a VW Corrado! :) http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIed1qTWW3o0lPd-9FXEWow?feature=watch

A friend of mine have a 1970's (I think roughly that year model) - Triumph Spitfire MK3 with a soft top, and a Hard top. He's on the lookout for the "cover" for the soft top - but with the holes for the hard top, and the white "line" in the fabric as seen in the pic: Anyone know if this is possible to buy somewhere in U.K?

Ahh, ok, that make sense - maybe it's just a bit "fiddly" to get into position C, I'l have to check it out.

Haven't done that no - never realy used it, so supposed it was the same system as on the golf's (Where you rotate it and then push), but if that's not the case, maybe I should have another go :) thnx for the tip! ---------- Post added at 1:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 1:17 PM ---------- Hmm, I tried what you said - but still doesn't seem to work. I see that i can have it "locked" while the central lock is unlocked (with the hatch lock positioned like this: (|) ), but it won't let me open in any way, other then unlocked with central

If my car is locked and I want to open the hatch I can't use the key to just open the hatch, the lock will rotate, but it will never engage the release pin. Any ideas what might be causing it (I see on the inside it rotates also, but the thing that is engaged/disengaged when using the central lock doesn't do anything, it just sits in the same spot. Any tips on what's causing it ?.

Replaced faulty AUX water pump, replaced all old coolant with G13, had a quick "wash", but will have to do a real wash soon - just had to take it out for a ride (guess it's almost a year since last time)........but will be running quite a bit this summer I recon :) Was fun beiing behind the wheel of the C again :)

Is it the sliding "lip" that can be replaced, or the whole copper thingy ?. Also do I need to take the HVAC control all out - or possible to change on the car? (Any tips on how it's changed appreciated :) )
-
Anyone know if it's possible to change out the copper bit that is controling the speed of the heater fan?. If so any DIY guides out there? this is on the newer style interior (3 knobs)
-
Tried to sort out problem with heater control today, and shorted over the fan-control in position 1, and it seem to work, so thought maybe there was just some bad contact between the sliding "lip" and the copper part it slides thru. Well, cleaned it a bit up, and tried to bend it a bit - put battery back in, but noticed the left headlight (mine is a LHD car) came on (I think maybe in parking light), also when I switched the ignition it started to flash the left "flashers" - I can feel the signal relay is working. Also on top of this now non of the heater controls seem to work.. I don't think this have anything to do with the heater control though, as I also tried to position the relay box like it is supposed to see (mine have been hanging with the relays pointing downwards since I got it, as for some reason it's realy tight fit), so I must have pulled out or maybe made contact with something back there. anyone have ANY idea where I might start looking for this ?
-
I'v just tested it, and to me it seem like there is something wrong with the "lip" that slides up on the copper strip - is there any way to replace only this "lip" - as when I short it in the right position it seem to be working fine.

Any experience with Peak Global Lifetime Antifreeze on VR6?

Yea - bought G13 from the dealer today, so now just have to wait for the Bosch Aux pump arriving from Germany :) -
Anyone ever repaired the interior plastic with some kind of welding/gluing, and any tips on how to do it and what to use?. My problem is the surrounding around the stereo/heater control - or rather the bar that splits the two units have been broken as long as I'v had the car, and was thinking about maybe trying to repair it in some way..... Any tips ?
-
I'v got problems on position 1 - does the heater control panel need to come out to troubleshoot this ?. Also could it have anything to do with the "brass" part on the front side of the control ?. I presume the thermal fuse sits on the blower motor or ? Anyone got any pics of it - and maybe how to troubleshoot the Position 1 error ?
