  1. hi guys i have a 2ltr 16v and i was wondering if anyone knows the wiring for the thermo fan switch , on the switch i have terminals marked

    the loom is Red

    Red / Black

    Red/ white

    if some one knows the correct positions of the wires to the switch and could let me know i would be very greatfull as the previous owner has cut of the multi plug and i want to make sure its wired up right

  2. hi guys need a few more thoughts on my car please :) , my car cut out again on wednesday morning on the way to work and wouldnt start again :x so i got it towed home complments of my wife , anyway i left it untill that night when i got home to have a look at it , had to put a boost pack across the battery as i had flantend it trying to start it earlier , the bloody thing burst in to life much to my supprise anyway it ran ok until you reved it up to around 4000 rpm then it would cough and fart a bit , i left the car until today to have a propper look at it as ive been to busy to before today , with a timming light across the plug leads individualy i can pick up a miss fire at around 4000 rpm and across the king lead its the same , so im thinking plugs leads and a coil to eliminate the fault , should i go to VW this time as i changed most of this last year with stuff from GSF and it seems to be at fault again , also whilest testing everything today my cooling fans didnt cut in at all so i switched them on manualy at 110 c i think its the thermo switch again as well , does any one know the pin numbers in relation to the 3 coloured wires to the switch as i want to know which one goes were as i think it could be wired up wrong via the previous owners attempt at rewiring the switch as before the fans stopped working it only ever worked just before 110c . any suggestions would be appreciated thanks guy :o oh yes its a 2ltr 16 v :oops:


  3. ive had this little beastie for 15 months , spent most of my pocket money that my wife lets me have on it but theres always more to do , part of the fun i think , i would love to get my hands on a Aqua Blue VR6 though i just love the colour change in different lights , how long you had your loverly looking VR ?


  4. well this week my car has been very bad its stayed frozen for about 3 days and its not being nice to me anymore , hell who cares ive just finished work for christmas so i know i dont care LOL gives me plenty of time to fix the heater , fix the lights ( there like candles ) change the hand brake cables ( it points at the back window ) should keep me busy for about a day aslong as it dosent rain and the fog lifts so i can find it on my drive way anyway wish you all a very merry christmas and a very happy new year to all you guys :x-mas:


  5. i was a proud owner of a 1990 XR 4x4 2.9 , what a car , i changed the heads to ofenhauser race heads put green chip injectors in complete janspeed system on and had 342 bhp on the rolling road at turbo technics , what a car , only problem was i put it on its roof on a wet night oooops ,buy it and have a laugh at one of Daggenhams finest :D

  8. mine has been doing somthing simuler to yours , ive disconected the cold start injector on the injector rail and it seems to be ok at the mo , i know its not a cure for the problem but it may help with the starting . aon hello and welcome as well :D


  9. could your cat be blocked , i had one on a car at work , not a vr6 but a v6 gv 4x4 and one of the cats had fallen appart internaly and blocked the exhaust causing the engine to run baddly and the exhaust to get very very hot , may be worth a quick look


  10. thats somthing ive been concerend about but have no option to re fit the sensors as the de cat pipe has no way of accomadating them , , anyone got any suggestions on that issue ?? . the car has now been running for 2 days with out the cold start injector connected and the car seems to be going really well , but im still not sure what the real problem is , any suggestions on the o2 sensor would be greatly appreciated could i just unplug the sensor and re wire the plug so its reading closed loop all the time ? :iamwithstupid:

CrazyDave its got k jetronic injection system on it so i will look at the loom in the morning , both throttle switches seem to be ok definatly make cliking sound on contact , Kongo 127 i fitted a new ignition switch in the summer to no avail mate and super charged sorry if my top comments seemed sarcastic i had had a really crap day struggling with various car problems and was feeling a little flusterd so sorry mate if i upset you , any other suggestions would be great guys :)

    hi guys its me again as some of you may know my 1992 2ltr 16v has had a few running problems for a while , i would really do with a little advise .

    all ignition side is fairly new i.e plugs cap arm leads all good , but im sure the car is over fueling as it back fires alot on overrun and when its ticking over it smells like its running rich at the exhaust ,if you blip the throttle you get a puff of black smoke and lots of sooty deposits come out , today ive set the c/o level to 0.5 % at the manifold instead of 1.5-2.0% and disconnected the 5 injector as i think its throwing itself on as and when it likes , since doing this the car feels more responsive and its stopped popping back on overrun and hardly any black smoke if you give it a boot full , im wondering if the ecu is trying to over fuel the car due to the exhaust being 3inch diamiter and has been de-catted , the o2 sensors are still plugged in to the loom but are tucked up out the way , im thinking if the c/o level has been set to 1.5% and the ecu only wants max .5% this could be the problem also were the 5th injector is faulty making the mixture to rich on a warm start up causing the sod to flood , any ideas guys please , thanks again guys

  13. if anyone has read my thred thats been locked please advise me on what to do next to my car i still havent been able to get a scan done as some one else said all i can scan for is ABS faults , is this true ? i carnt be arsed to re type my last thread as i didnt realise it would be locked !
