And a little hint of OCD  Just making the most of the paint as it is for the moment. I still remember it being rather average at a CCGB National day back in 2006 :) Especially as I drooled over most of the other cars attending (Bill, Judith etc) very clean motors. Sure we'll get a chance to have another run out Jim, it might be running a little more boost by then  Cheers David, glad you enjoyed it. Not so much of a wild animal, more a smooth torquey cruiser. Well the sun is out again today and it really feels like Corrado time! Worcester meet anyone? :D

Cheers Gary! Pretty soon I'll have tested more suspension setups on my car than Mr Pianowire  Car was nice and clean still from Ultimate Dubs, so a few pics 8) stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfDSC_0152.jpg[/attachment:910fify9] Corrado92.pdfDSC_0157.jpg[/attachment:910fify9] passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfDSC_0161.jpg[/attachment:910fify9] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfDSC_0175.jpg[/attachment:910fify9] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSC_0197.jpg[/attachment:910fify9] DSC_0205.jpg[/attachment:910fify9]

Well done chap  Well done indeed! Phil, haven't looked really. The KW's do have spring rates in lb's and come in two types for the Corrado, firm and comfy  being old I prefer the comfy these days. Eibach etc don't usually give info like that away so it's difficult to get a base reference together other than fitting them and trying them out......
-
I did consider fitting an extra spacer to the rear dampers to get the same result as your suggestion. The main reason for not keeping the Eibach spring was how hard they are, maybe the valver springs are different? TBH the PI ones are a bit of a stop gap. I'd still like some KW's at some point. Especially after having a ride out in Shauns car again last week, they are just sublime. The ride comfort and handling balance is the best I've experienced yet. Thanks for testing the brackets out Kev, I'll get the rest made ASAP. Be in touch with the rest of you on the list soon.

Looking good drew, not so sure about the dodgy mechanics you let loose on your motor though  -
Well I've just been down the road in it and you all forgot to mention how bloody fast it is!!!!!!
-
Hey James! Have you ever tried two 11" side by side on a rad? Not sure if they'll fit. I'll have a trial with the CAD tomorrow and see if it'll fit :)
-
No problem. I must ring Kev and find out how he's getting on with the first 9/11 bracket. Although I've had some more ideas and changed the design a little from the original one. It'll fit non standard radiators now :)

Excellent! The Jetta is a great car, looks like the paint is in pretty good shape. Keep it polished :)

Bet yours flows enough air to suck it flat like a tin can! Had a few people comment on how much 'stuff' is under my bonnet. The other one is 'all that lot for only 290hp', that one makes me smile. I love my mid range torque monster  Not really bothered, it's plenty quick enough for me and not bad for something I knocked up at home on the drive 8)

As with most things its's down to the 6 P's....... Proper Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Quality of some of the parts is a bit suspect, cast manifolds is the one that springs to mind. So far mines held out and been fine for just over 9k miles (and OK I only run about 8psi). That includes a trip to the Nurburgring last year with about 1500miles added to the clock, the only problem I had was the rear brake caliper nearly fell off :? It ran like a dream, was great on fuel when cruising, and scared the sh!t out of me round the track! The main reliability issue seems to be adequate heat protection for anything near the turbo. Now that Kev's mentioned water feed pipes it's gone straight on my list of things to check :) Things are always going to get warm near the charger so putting extra effort in that area will make it reliable. Good cooling of charge air is also important. As for how long they'll last..... my rule of thumb is, double the power, half the life.

Update. Mr cheese/piano/trip/fuse bloke 9/11" Sent for testing Stormcharged VR. 6.5"/11" Confirm size at UDubs 8) Leon. 9/11" Heresites. 6.5/11" Sent Yeti. size 6.5/11" Sent Mic_vr. 6.5/11" Delivered KAD-VR6 9/11" JamminVR6Storm 6.5/11" Sent Tom. size 6.5/11" PM me your address? Corradude 6.5/11" Packing now! Don't panic you 9"/11" people, I haven't forgotten you. Just didn't want to get a load more made if the prototype didn't fit :) Thanks to everybody for so much interest in this stuff. The fan controller is well under way and should start testing this weekend. After a taking Mic_VR / nemesis360 out Sunday evening for a quick spin, we had a cherry red turbo / exhaust show going on under the bonnet of the VRT! That puts it at about 800degC or just perfect!! And people still ask me what all that silver heat insulation is for.......... :?
-
That's what I was thinking too. :) 6.5"/11" would be pretty much spot on for a fiarly standard VR wouldn't it? Enough for a 400hp monster TBH 8) A lot of it depends on what else you'll be trying to squeeze down by the radiator in the future. The main reason going 6.5" for me was short runner clearance.
-
Coming together very nicely Kip! Glad you sorted out the fan mounting. My charge cooler rad sits right in the spot you have your big fan, and like you I didn't want to cut the car at all. Top job! Gonna have to get together for a natter :)
-
Right then. The 6.5/11" brackets are done. The 9/11" fit my rad fine so those are being made in the next week or so. Just to be clear these brackets have only been trial fitted to a genuine VW rad (Denso / Marston) other rads may not have the correct fitting lugs. I'll post some detailed photos so it's clear how they mount. The postage / packing works out at £3.50 for the UK, so not too bad. I'll PM all the 6.5/11" people with my PayPal details, unless you want to sort in out another way. Let me know Tom, I can feel a trade off against some PI springs coming on, if that's OK with you. What size bracket did you want? Any questions let me know :) Updated Mr cheese/piano/trip/fuse bloke 9/11" Stormcharged VR. 6.5"/11" Leon. 9/11" Heresites. 6.5/11" Yeti. size 6.5/11" Mic_vr. 6.5/11" KAD-VR6 9/11" JamminVR6Storm 6.5/11" Tom. size 6.5/11" Corradude 6.5/11"

Love em! Mk2's Mk1's great fun! Looks rather tidy James.

That's the plan, lose the standard controller but replace and improve the functionality. Adjustable temp / speed curve settings, run on time, setup via PC etc etc.
-
If you don't mind Kev, could you send me the 9" fan and I'll try it all out on the rad that's off the car ATM. Been a while, but my 11" Spal was about £80 and the 6.5" I got as a show special for about £40. Both from RevoTec although he doesn't sell Spal fans any more, the he sells are supposed to be a direct copy....but better :? As for the control side, you could relay them up to work as you said. But I'll have a much neater solution in a couple of weeks that'll drive the fans at variable speed dependant on water temp and control the aux water pump. Just working on it now
-
Update on the fan brackets. Latest lot is back from laser cutting so the 6.5/11" will be ready this weekend. I'll get one set packaged up and see what the postage is going to be. The trial 9/11" has also been done and measures OK fitted to the rad but needs trying with an actual 9" fan (that I don't have). Who fancies having a test fitting ASAP? Jamminvr6storm, had a few made so no problem with putting you on the list.

Brings a smile to my face :D Mmmmmm turbo!
-
Should get the TB adapters back with the rest of the rad brackets, so pretty soon. I'll check to make sure they haven't forgotten them :) StormchargedVR cheers! I wonder what postage to Jersey is????
-
Hi Black Dub, make sure the back of the manifold that the mounting nuts sit against is machined flat (so the nuts / washers sit square to the head) or you'll end up pulling the studs out of the head. Should be quite a squeeze with the standard manifold? Always wondered what was supposed to be written on the top of the manifold, mine was ground off for some reason ....... say no more.....
-
Let me know what size fans you want brackets for, choice of two 6.5/11" or 9/11" Updated Mr cheese/piano/trip/fuse bloke 9/11" Stormcharged VR. 6.5"/11" Leon. 9/11" Heresites. 6.5/11" Yeti. Mic_vr. 6.5/11" KAD-VR6 9/11" JamminVR6Storm 6.5/11" 6.5/11" brackets should be done for this weekend. Only getting one 9/11" done so that Leon can try it for size.

Great stuff! Your a rather hairy angel :D did wonder how we sorted that lot out. Let me know what the damage is.

That'll be tomorrows topic over beer then! Will try to get over about 7.30ish
