  1. What have Braun done... entered Flavio's hair curlers? No-one loves a smart arse! Flav's curlers would probably be quicker than the Renaults!
  2. Best Quote from BBC's website: PMSL! GO ON BRAUN! Also so nice to see Williams making a recovery as well after years in the doldrums... IF today's practice is anything to go by, could be a very good year for F1!
  3. About £140 all in, that was wishbones and full set of VR top mounts front and rear (but they forgot front bearings! :censored: ) The ARB links were about £10 each and bought from local factors as broke mine mid-change... using an impact Wrench :brickwall: Twisted them like Toffee before snapping both... Edit.. front Wishbones were £41-90 ea just found reciept!
  4. What time's the replay? Going to miss some of it as I'll be en-route to the POd! Hopefully they'll show it in the bar as they did with Brit GP and the Summer Fest!
  5. May as well as you'll have to remove them to get the mounts out! Plus it'll mean you're not a year/two down the line looking at a fail due to rusty wishbones Get new ARB links at the same time, as I found out this weekend, they'll probably snap when you try taking them off! :brickwall: You also may want to consider new Ball-joints too! As you/the mechanic's got it all apart! Go for VAG ones the "Cheap" versions have weaker rubber bushes and aren't seam welded, which means you'll bve at square one in a couple years... The Vag may seem expensive, but you know they've lasted this long... so false economy buying "cheap" and replacing in 2-3 years.
  6. Stewards have passed all 3 team's cars to race this weekend... Despite protests by... Redbull Renault BMW/Sauber Ferrari (quel surprise!) So It looks like all results from Aus and Malaysia will be up in the air until a meeting in Paris... AGAIN! :brickwall: :epicfail:
  7. Talking to a guy who's got a Ported/cammed Mk2 KR head up for sale and was wondering before I do something silly... Does the KR head fit a 9a engine? As far as I can tell doing "google research" it should... Also when doing a head swap what should I budget on for new parts, over and above the obvious Gaskets/ head studs... I'm guessing injectors, cam followers :pale: spare exhaust studs/nuts... Any help or advice you can give would be great!
  8. FI the 9a Job done conversation over, Mods please lock
  9. Flange fixed! Just need a break in the weather to clean and detail her for the weekend!
  10. Ah here we go... was only a matter of time before Red-Bull became a Ferrari puppet! Braun/Williams/Toyota protest
  11. P/no 251965561B (listed as additional water pump on VAG-CAT)
  12. And potentially fail a MOT too! something to do with exhaust exits and how close the passenger compartment.... Plus they look Chav-gash IMHO And do bugger all for ground clearance (which is why you are asking I'd guess!)
  13. Jenks, can you indicate what part you mean on the photo? And a slightly bigger engine photo so I know where I'm looking at... VAGCAT exploded diagrams don't show much cooling wise in that area...
  14. Just realised... unlucky 13 (and 1/2)...
  15. Hope to get something as "Picturesque" from the London Rado meet on the 5th! Kempsy where was that taken?
  16. Phil wheels are 17x7.5 with 205/40/17 Yoko... Coilies are set pretty much where they came out the box, just need to sort out the Axle "push" somehow, makes it look a little unbalanced at the back!
  17. Sneek preview... this is as low as the massive brick speedhumps in our road allow me to go! Yes the car is dirty! :|
  18. Cheers for the feature Chris... see you at the Pod hopefully!
  19. 1st year of the MK2 mate .. As she was last April... Not the quickest car ion teh planet but was well sorted chassis wise... used to regularly "Play" with a 993 Carrera-4 on the back-roads home to/from work in it... Kept it honest through the twisty stuff... he killed me when it opened up though.. the art was to time it to get to the road just before him and keep him behind me..
  20. Nah, the Notch was sold the same year as this... I'd got a little "Tired" of it after owning it 4 years, and stupidly had done a "To-do" list to get it to where I wanted it to be about 2 weeks before going to Newquay. As I was getting out teh car in teh Show n Shine I said teh the girlfriend that I was thinking of selling it... Next day get a knock on the Caravan door from some bloke who'd overheard me and wanted to buy it... Asked me what I wanted for it, so a quick tot in my head of Purchase price plus engine, plus wheels, plus other "Bits" and a 10% profit and gave him that... I thought it'd scare him off... but no. 5 weeks later I watched my baby being driven off, :( but with enough money to get a split I'd had my eye on! The Rado's my "Only" car - discounting the '82 Rocco Gti sat in a lock up in Oxford awaiting a resto... 8)
  21. Keep em coming all you are giving me a really good laugh on this miserable Monday morning Plus that Porsche GT looks 8) Ok this should keep you grinning... "Did" a Boxster S on the A303 on my way to Newquay in my old Notchback (about 2 days prior to this shot being taken at The RTTS show and Shine). He came alongside me on a stretch of dual carrageway as I was doing 60, He had roof down blond seat cover, waved at me smiled and nailed it, so I dropped her a gear and promptly sat on his ass all the way to 100! :epicfail: Man he looked really :censored: in the rearview mirror.... can see the conversation after he puleld over... Her: I though this was a fast car... Him: It is... Her: so why was that old banger sat behind you then? Oh and the spec? "Just" a Brand-new (from the case up) air-cooled 1776cc, Pai of Webber 36mm DCNF's, "Mild" 110 Cam, extractor exhaust, and some serious head work done by the best Formula Vee Engine builders in the country! Revved to 6k which is a lot for an old Flat-4 but more importantly produced a really flat torque curve from 1500RPM... Damn I miss her!
  22. Nissan Micra - 5 up! :cuckoo: Seriously... on M11 a few weeks ago, I was "Cruising" and they blasted past in the outside lane, had to be doing 100+ Was expecting to see it a couple miles further on either in a ball or smoking... but nope just dissapeared! In my old Rocco Gti I got truely wasted off a set of lights by a Smart too.. only afterwards did I find out it was the Brabus version that had been launched the week before... damn quick off the mark! Having a "mere" 16v I don't see the point in annoying "Exotica"
  23. Feel for ya mate, my "insignificant" water leak decided to turn into Niagra yesterday... filled it 3 times to do 50 miles and was empty by time I got home... Refilled it today and empties the header tank in about 10 minutes... so I have a "Head flange" change to get done this week or no GTi-Fest for me :(
  24. Yesterday was a day spent in the workshop! KW-1's... on, New VAG VR6 top mounts front and back... on, New VAG front wisbones... on, ARB Bushes... snapped :epicfail: :brickwall: so replaced with new (non-VAG but that's all that was available at 2pm on a Sat) No pics as the car's been set pretty much as it was height wise (ok about 10-15mm down), but SOOOOO much better now! All I need now is to get the Porsche adaptors, have it tracked during the week once it's settled, and sort a small waterleak from the plastic cooling pipe flange on the head (Which refuses to undo!)
