Well It's basically the 16v CDA with a Diesel Final Drive + a Quiafe LSD (So mega bucks). I don't know if 1 & 2 would be too tall yet but 3rd would see you too 101mph @6200, 4th 129mph and 5th 158mph (on std wheels). So the gears would be nicely spaced out with a good drop in rpm between them. 158mph is a realistic top speed aerodynamically and power wise when running a G60. Cruising speeds would be acceptable. Going to run my box first after bottom-end install and see how it copes with the extra torque. I've got to say, next to a Golf G60 FMIC it's the best thing I've done to the car. I Love the 2nd Gear in this diesel box no torque steer no wheel spin, even when it rained earlier in the week, just superb. And you find yourself using the gear box, which I didn't before, changing down to get the best from the engine.

Yes mate, I'll have some fun playing around with the numbers. Already thinking about a new box setup for my car for when I finally get the 2.0L bottom end sorted out.

Just got back from Santa Pod today with the following QMT. Managed to do a 15.1200 sec @ 93.21mph QMT on my first ever attempt but my reaction time was +1.1329. I couldn't better my QMT for the rest of the day but my reaction time did get better. Got to say the weather was perfect and I got no wheel spin at all in 1st gear on my first run which I could not seem to recreate on subsequent runs.

Great to see a project in progress with lots of pics :)

Good job I Did get a new one. My old one had jumped a apex strip. It wouldn't of lasted long on 65mm pulley.

Don't tell the wife you bought a brand new VAG Supercharger from Germany using your Fathers Ebay/Paypal Account. And when it arrives tell the wife it's one of those new types of alternator that can be retrofitted and only cost £60.

Yours reminded me of this.......!!!

How about this one! Complicated though and could of resulted in my death. Don't try to see if your front engine mount is knickered by: A: Yourself B: Whilest the two front wheels are on two separate peices of 8'x4' pieces of ply C: With the handbrake on but the two rear wheels on a gravel drive: D: With the car facing an open garage just wide enough for car. E: By putting it in first and blipping the clutch whilst trying to lean forward and see how much the engine moves whilst standing on one of the pieces of 8x4 ply. Thankfully the diff decided to shoot the piece of ply out from under the passengerside front wheel and not the one on the drivers side on which I was standing which would of resulted in yours truly doing the splits with head between windscreen and door as it drove off into the narrow garage. Now that would of been one to tell the angel at the pearly gates.

Yeah, I'll remember that one, hang-on let me get a pen.

Don't show a two year old how to drive a car. The minute your back is turned they get in the drivers seat and expect that they will be able to drive.

OMG I did a gearbox and clutch a couple of weeks ago and it was a b***ard. I can't imagine the feeling of realising you forgot to fit the CRB. What a nightmare :shocked!:

No, not easy. I think his words were "They're bl**dy strong you know and there fur is really oily!" I think he wanted to put it out of it's misery. Sent his wife 400yds up the road to there house with the children. And then realised he had nothing to do the job other than his bare hands. But this is nothing until you here the story of my other B-I-Law who lives in rural france. He thought he would save on the vets bill and neck a sick chicken but ended up axe murdering it in one of the out buildings. He can't even talk about it a year later he's so traumertised.

That happened to my Brother-In-Law. He tried to do the decent thing but ended up throttling it to death like some sort of crazed serial deer killer. F**ked-Up.

Mine So far are:- Don't hit your PAS pump with a lump hammer to loosen the belt. Look for that pesky 3rd bolt. (Fixed with replacement for £25 off ebay :) ) Don't Fit a FMIC&65mm pulley & do 150mph without first checking that your head gasket is good and it might help if it were a metal one! (Replaced) 8) Don't fire up your car after fitting an exhaust manifold that runs too close to your steering column UJ Boot. It will burn a hole in it! (Replaced and Alu Heatshielded) Don't let someone set your timing at 2000rpm without fixing UJ boot clearance issue. As the grease inside will catch fire and knock out your LCDs and Rev Counter. Nice! (Clocks dismantled and cleaned Ok now) Don't try to drive fast, monitor speed and oil temp with a dodgy rear brake bias and low tread rear tyres. Skiding backwards in the opposite lane waiting for the impact is not much fun. (Definatley Fixed) :? Don't rely on F**kwit mechanics to replace bias valve and bleed the rears correctly :x (Did it myself in 1/2 an hour after picking it up) 8)
