Nightmare :? just found a post about using an audi 100/200 23.8mm. Might be worth a look. http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:wL ... ent=safari

Tell all what you think if you get one fitted. Off Topic, how did you get on with a replacement Brake Master Cylinder?
-
I would say it was the bottom line, there maybe other possibilities depending on engine characteristics, vehicle use etc. Sorry what do you mean confirm fitment? It's an 02A gearbox it will look just like the gearbox in your engine bay! Some early diesel gearboxs were cable operated like the golf mk2 these were 020 gearboxs.
-
Now you can enjoy all future engine improvement all the more. 147mph is good going was it very slow over 140mph to get to 147mph. It's so cool how fast you can get to 135 in 4th isn't it. Do you know what power your engine is putting out currently? Are your wheel 15" or 16"?
-
Sorry I meant with regards to the traction available, torque steer etc.
-
Glad you like it  Well done getting it fitted so quickly! 8) Out of interest is it better than your previous VR 1 and 2 box?
-
Nice one, should be even easier to fit. Errm just remembered there is an extra bolt hole for the different cable bracket which will allow oil and grime into the bell housing so best to find a bolt or something to plug it up. :)
-
I thought about doing that, even removed the bolts only to discover the shift tower was bonded/sealed to the rest of the box so I bottled out of try to split them and did it the hard way. Give it a go and let us know!

"I wish it was 350bhp. " Sorry meant ft/lbs
-
Gotta be worth it just for being able to do full throttle acceleration to the red line on a wet day like today without wheelspin :)
-
Exactly why I changed to the CTN box. Low cost, proper VR ratio 1 & 2 (which a vr 1 and 2 cog swap does not give you unless you have a ATB code box) and the low rpm 5th. As for performance I did a 15.12 sec QMT on my first attempt at santa pod and was leading IHIG60 (350bhp standard g60 box) till the 1/8mile mark. In 4th you will find it a little slower if you time it before and after, but you can change down to 3rd below 80mph and hit 96ish super quick. 5th is alot taller hence the low rpm cruising speed and is not good for overtaking or quick acceleration, again you can change down to 4th below 120 mph and hit 135 mph quick. With the old box I could get to OOoops mph but new box only lets me hit ohdearmph which is probably a good thing. I'm being as honest as possible with the above and are obviously based on my mods which have all lowered the torque curve in the rev. range. Good luck with the swap don't forget to get the cable bracket on top of the box and if they haven't already removed it tell them to be careful with the plastic driver on the change mech. , only £7.00 from a dealer and easily broken.

Best to just contact the scrapyards and say you "want a late mk3 golf diesel CTN code gearbox". Here is a company with contact details who had a CTN about 4 months ago you could try them. Dan @ Car-Transplants.co.uk 08452 60 38 03 ASD £250+VAT 90 day 75000miles 200+VAT = £235 ?miles CTN £250+VAT = £294 65000miles CYP £ There is a diesel box with a CYP code which has near identical ratios as the CTN aswell. The ASD is a lot taller. Here's a comparison.

Off Topic: First time I drove on that side of the car was in Paris!! I pulled out of the hire car multi-story car park straight into the middle of Paris City Centre. Now that was in at the deep end. I didn't know which way was up never mind which hand did what and on what side of the road. Oh yes and we had a tourist pamphlet map to try and find the motorway! Oh to be young and naive again with not a care in the world, or an ounce of common sense. One question I have for you though is how do find overtaking. It's always put me off left-hookers.
-
All you need to do then is get your steering wheel moved to the right side of the car and your laughing........ .
-
Well yes your absolutely right. The best thing though is how you can get it out of a late mk3 golf diesel and that it has not seen high rpms all it life. The one I have really does a good job of handling the low end torque. You can also get good mpg in 5th, not many changes that make your car faster and save you money. Nice for M'way driving too. I don't think you could do much better for the low cost of a straight box swap.

JSB Racing Shiftlight kit - Pre-order for next batch
CTWG60 replied to mrbeige's topic in Suppliers Forum
mrbeige I assume you just solder the control box signal wire/s to the corrosponding socket pin on the back of the circuit board and find a suitable earth connection to solder to? Or is it more complicated than that. I'll have one regardless as soon as I'm a bit more flush and I get a few other things out of the way. Also one more question, if you set the device to lightup the first light at 5500rpm and last at 6250rpm will it then program itself to light the 2nd and 3rd light at 5750rpm and 6000rpm? Tks
