He's going to free it up with hopefully the above methods (big hammer is always good). Henny, how is your hunt for passat/a4/avant going? I'm getting myself a diesel and fancy one of the above. Any pointers/tips?

It's going chubbz. Got a price back, not as bad as I thought. £325 and that includes the price of the M.O.T.

Put my car in for it's M.O.T. today. Had a call from the tester and I have a few problems. 1 - Offside rear calliper is buggered. 2 - Hole in exhaust (not a problem) 3 - Brake bias valve is seized 4 - Both rear wheel bearings are shot along with drivers front wheel bearing. 5 - Nearside rear shock is leaking. Main problem is that I'm not sure what type of shocks are on the car. I know that is is lowered using springs and uprated shocks but which type is a mystery. Any ideas as to roughly the cost of getting the above work done? Thanks in advance, Graeme

Thanks Steve. Can you point me in the right direction please?

My G60 has decided to hunt around at idle almost stalling especially when the engine is warmed up. Tonight I disconnected what I think is the blue temp sender but I'm not sure. I've attached a pic below of the (hopefully) blue temp sender. When this was disconnected the car almost stalled and was idling at really low rpm. When reconnected, the idle shot up to normal but was still hunting around. ISV has been cleaned but problem still persists. Any Ideas?

I didn't know you could fit the rocker cover on backwards!!!!! Might solve a little problem I'm having.

Here's mine before I got pulled over and fined and given 3 points. They were only letting through 20% of light.

Oh Henny!

The device they use has two halves; a light source and a light detector. They are magnetic and stick together between the inside and outside of the window. It doesn't matter how light /dark it is outside, the source is always the same. The contacts are plugged into a little box with a button on it. THe copper presses the button in for about 20 seconds to get a reading. He then take another 2 readings across the window to get an average reading. He then issues you with 3 points and a £60 fine if your windows let in less than 70% light.

I am seriously considering buying a Diesel car as I'm putting too many miles on the rado and I'm spending too much money on petrol every month. So I'm looking at spending £4k maximum on a car. I've been toying with the idea of either a Passat Estate or A4 Avant, however I totally forgot about the A3. I'm just looking for a bit of advice from people who have either owned or currently own a diesel car from the vag stable. It has to be quite roomy (I'm nearly 6ft 5) so please no suggestions of Lupos or such like. Any comments welcome. Thanks in advance, Graeme
