Your always welcome mate. Yeah, keep meaning to give you a call for that battery you have. What's up with your car at the moment?

What a busy few weeks. Managed to get most parts sandblasted and powder coated and I must say the results look very impressive. However, the subframe has some blemishes so will speak to the powder coaters tomorrow to see what they have to say about it. The loom is with South West In Car Technology in Bristol aka SWICT or Vag Doctors. It's being dealt with Mark, nice guy to talk to but seems a little dis-organised but I prob put it down to just being busy. Should get the loom back next week, Will be ordering the dubpower manifold at some point hopefully this week. Spending a little time to clean the spare VR gearbox ready for some detailing. Mised out on a corrado centre console gauge on ebay the other day :bad-words: was willing to pay good money for one as I really want one! Also having a bit of hassle with someone on here selling me faulty parts, still trying to get them to sort it out. So next jobs.... drive in the new VAG bushes on the subframes (once the sub frame has been fixed), fit brackets and exhaut manifold to engine then think Im almost there ? Will be detailing the slam panel too, watch this space.

never thought of that, surely they were painted when out of the factory? Or were they just bare?
-
once Ive got the gearbox on I will look at the mount situation. I would preffer to keep it standard but am thinking of using a mocal kit with a stat fitted. But Ive heard this can still over cool the oil if its fitted by the grill like I want it to be. will see

yeah true, I'm tempted to do it black, silver/black or maybe even red

forgot to mention that I got myself a aeromotive style FPR yesterday, so fueling issue should be under control now Here's the latest with the bracket fitted and the audi badge on
-
cheers guys, pretty sure will be going with the dubpower version, just thought I would check. Started to clean up the gearbox, not sure whether to polish it or paint it. then not sure on colour, decissions decissions ... Will be rebuilding the driveshafts with new boots etc soon, so I would like to hope that in a few weeks I'll be at a stage of having most of the setup put together and looking ready to fit  The loom should be back with me in a week or so soon 8) Just need to plan a long weekend of ready for the swap, not looking forward to the wiring.

What alternatives are there to using the dubpower exhaust manifold? Or is this the best of the lot?
-
Right found the right bracket and got it from germany, its 021 260 087D iirc and it arrived next day!! These Germans are pretty good! Sent a load of subframe parts over to be sand plasted, hope to have them ready for powder coating on tuesday. will post pics once I get them all back.

Found out I needed: Tensioner PN 021 145 299D aux bracket PN 021 260 087D hope this helps others As for strut bars, if you mean the upper one. I would guesse that ones that are designed for the VR6 would be fine as I think they sit above the exhaust manifold and should clear the inlet??

Late R32 fueling question - Fuel return lines and FPR
quicky1980 replied to quicky1980's topic in Engine Bay
Is it? Looking at prices of fpr it not cheap, circa £130. Just wondered if the r32/audi fuel pump fitted or is it more involved? You know of any good fpr? -
I have a late r32/audi 3.2 engine that has just one fuel supply line on the fuel rail. I presume the audi/r32 pump has a built in fuel pressure regulator, if so can I fit the audi pump to my corrado or is this just not compatable? This would allow me to ditch the vr's return line. cheers

Bosch Starter "0 001 108 202" - What's it from/for?
quicky1980 replied to quicky1980's topic in Drivetrain
cheers guys, no wonder it didn't fit lol Just out of interest, how did you find out that info? I tried doing a search for the part number but nothing really came up. -
Bosch Starter "0 001 108 202" - What's it from/for?
quicky1980 replied to quicky1980's topic in Drivetrain
hmm, looks like it may be from a fiat?!? No idea why I got it with the engine lol -
I got a starter delivered with my audi 3.2 engine. I didn't ask for it and thought it to be a nice freebee. I don't need it but no idea what it fits, don't think it's for the audi gearbox because it looks different to the ones on ebay. Can someone tell me what a Bosch A152 - 0 001 108 202 fits? Once I know I can sell it accordingly. Cheers

You can find original VW coorado specific roof bars for sale from time to time. I find these to be a better fit and look better imo.

Both the tensioner and aux bracket hit under the variable inlet manifold, why oh why!? parts I'm using are: tensioner PN 021 145 299 and the aux bracket PN 021 260 087 Just bought all new engine mounts ready and last week I pushed out all the old subframe bushes. ready for sand blasting and powder coated  Also now have two gearbox's in the garage, one's a vr and the other is the r32, hopefully sold the r32 one  . Ive bought the clutch ready to fit the gearbox, but want to clean up and paint the vr box first. I hope to pick up some red samco's soon and have a 11" spal fan on it's way. Still looking out for an 8" version Loom and ECU are packed and ready to be sent off for "modding" by Mark at VAG doctors in Bristol. Last big thing to get is aexhaust manifold for the job, was thinking dubpower, but does anyone have any better suggestions?

I'm struggling a little. I have a tensioner PN 021 145 299 and the aux bracket PN 021 260 087 I can't get them to fit. They foul on the variable inlet manifold, why?! Trying to fit these items to a late spec audi 3.2 block. BDB code 2005. Am I using the wrong aux bracket and tensioner? Cheers
-
I've lost mine, does anyone know if this is availible from VW? If so whats the part number? cheers
-
sorry but how do you adjust to the 3bar? Does the engine need to run, just worried the fpr i buy could be over adjusted. Any recomendations on which one to buy?
-
just checked the crack pipe and seems fine, it is shorter than the 24v version but the 12v thermostat housing which Im using is slightly different and makes up fo the difference. Gone through you build again and got some answers, but also go some more q's :-). How do you adjust the fpr, mine is like what yours was like ie no return line.

There seems to be quite a number of different accessaory brackets. I bought a 1994 VR6 corrado bracket off ebay and has the part number 021 260 089 F and this doesnt fit the late audi spec block (hits the block and inlet manifold)! The rado currently has a 021 145 189 D fitted and has air con, pas and alt fitted to it. With the one mentioned and 2 i have makes 3 variants of the late vr6 bracket. In summary, careful which you buy. Now this makes me wonder, does the bracket you mention 021 260 087 allow for the option of fitting an air con pump? if so what type of pump? Will the 021 145 189 D fit the audi block? Only time I would find out is on engine swap day "V Day"

I wondered if I put the crack pipe on wrong, but It's not bolted on tight anyway. Will do it once I'm certain Ive go the pipework setup correctly. The 12v crack pipe does differ to the 24v but again hope to use mainly 12v coolant layout. Thanks for pointing it out though Will need to source a part number and see if vw do a decent price. If im lucky may find a 2nd hand one Attatched to the front of the inlet manifold was a larger plastic box that looked like an air damper. Attatched to this were/are two little solenoid/valve thingies that must control the amount of vaccuum going to the variable inlet and the other goes to the egr controler iirc correctly. Olnly prob is i didnt pay attention when taking it all apart and now i dont know which controls the egr and which controls the inlet. Once i work out which is not needed can i cut it off or will it throw the car into a error mode? Will get some pics up to make it clearer Ill give kip a shout at some point, but currently the 12v coolant temp sensors have no plug attatched. Surely this will mean the dash or engine fan wont work correctly. Or does the 24v ecm only need one coolant temp input and has the relevent outputs for the dash gauge and fan control?

Noticed youve been showing some interest in a 3.2 setup, when you looking at starting the project. If you need a hand, I'm sure I would have gained a few bits of useful info. Spend the day on putting the engine back together. Looking quite sweet, especially after I removed all the unnecesarry parts such as the egr system etc. Just before I put the rocker cover back on I took a picture of the mechanical beauty Heres after a bit of messing around gruven item fits fine :-) Few questions came up. 1. I thought I could use a VR6 bracket to mount the alternator, pas and air con pump onto the block. However this doesn't fit, what should I use? 2. Which control capsule controls the variable inlet? I have two little capsules but not sure which one I can delete. 3. VR6 thermostat housing has 3 ports, 2 of which are used (blue and yellow sensors). What should I do with these and should I fit the grey audi 3.2 temp sensor.

I did wonder, never had a polished item under the hood. I'll see how it goes, if it oxidises quite often and quite quickly then I'll go back to OEM finish or have one painted. Again, not sure. Was tempted to laquer it but not sure if this is a good idea either. don't bother with the laquer, if you even look at it funny the laquer will scratch and become visible. powder coating or chroming is the way forward. i got so pi$$ed off with my old inlet and rocker so sold them and had some chromed, all they need is a light wipe now, no more polishing  When i get my r32 sorted out i will definately be chroming the rocker so if you fancy doing a group batch let me know. did that gruven crack pipe fit the r32? you shouldnt have to worry about that oxidising as i did clear hi temp laquer it. forgot to mention it when i sold it to you. Haven't tried yet because the 3.2's front is facing a wall in the garage. May give it a go this weekend and start putting some of these goodies together. I have been thinking of doing a group offer on polished or chromed components, not just 3.2 rocker covers.
