I did wonder, never had a polished item under the hood. I'll see how it goes, if it oxidises quite often and quite quickly then I'll go back to OEM finish or have one painted. Again, not sure. Was tempted to laquer it but not sure if this is a good idea either.

lol, no idea. Like I said, I will build the setup in the garage first, then when I'm pretty much done I hope to do the swap on a weekend and have a week free to problem solve. Aiming March time still

hell yeah! Any one want to see some bling bling? Actually looks much better in person

The guy I bought the gearbox off has quoted me £45+vat (£53ish) for delivery, It would cost me roughly £30-40 in fuel so thanks but isn't working o So thanks for the offer, but it's works out more expensive with your quote so I'll pass.

Any one know of a cost effective pallet company that can collect a vr6 gearbox from Brierley Hill and have it delivered to Peterborough? Or if anyone is doing the journey, would they like to earn some beer money? cheers

Nope - been lookin for mine ! Mine has a sticker on the rocker cover. Not found it on the block either, but then I've never really looked that hard  Good info. As well as the DB bracket not fitting, the MK5 O2M also has no speedo output. Do you happen to know what the work around for that is if you're using the Corrado clocks? I guess the MK5 must get vehicle speed from the ABS senders? I'm quietly looking into a FWD O2M conversion in the background, time permitting. I have a 2007 R32 O2M sat in my garage and I'm looking into the best way to bestow 6 speeds onto my Corrado, as cost effectively as possible so that others can follow suit. These damn O2Ms get my head in a spin, so I'm thinking of creating a sticky thread so that we can pool together 'O2M into Corrado' knowledge, 4WD and FWD and come up with some 'best practices'. With all these VR6 Turbo and R32 conversions coming out of the woodwork, I think O2A breakages could become a wee issue over time! Having a sticky on 02M gearbox's would be useful. I didn't even realise that the 02m has no speedo output, how do the later cars get around this then? Does it rely on the abs rings?

Yes it is, ended up getting one off ebay germany for a very reasonable price. It included the FULL car loom!!! :luvlove: The engine loom on my engine was cut when being removed from the car :censored: , fortunately Audi did a full replacement for £150, this inc a 10% discount. I think I have pretty much all the items to build the setup off the car and in the garage. Gave up polishing the rocker cover, so getting a local guy to do it for me.....I know I know, I'm lazy. But I'm sure he'll do a better job than what I could have ever done.

change of plans, going 2wd with vr gearbox first. so will sell the 4wd 3.2 gearbox to fund the project.

I'm in the middle of carrying out a r32 conversion. From what I've read, 12v hoses are pretty much put onto the 24v so a samco kit should fit (I'm ordering some soon), mounts are the same on the rear (if using vr6 gearbox) and yes front needs adapting slightly. I've seen other use standard vr fans, they come close to the manifold but should be ok.

damn coolant hose that goes from the cylinder head to heater matrix decided to let go yesterday on the way back from work. crapped myself at first because I thought the engine bay was on fire when i saww what looked like smoke coming from the bonnet gaps. funny how steam looks alot like smoke at night! anyway, sorted something out temp until I get a cheap replacement sorted out. Decided to go for samco hoses for the engine swap. not sure if I should go blue, black or red though. any ideas?
-
straightforward enough, takes a little longer the first time because your having to find all the hidden retaining bolts/fixings. I reckon first time would take a couple of hours. I've had mine out twice, once for a dash swap and second time was for a heater matrix swap (although ive been told that the heater matrix can be swapped without a dash out, damn it!) I prob can now remove and refit one in less than an hour iirc.

weather this sunday is supposed to be really wet on sunday. I may pop along for the show but I can't be bothered to get teh car alll shiny clean just for it to get road grime on it. we will have to do thephot's another time maybe?
-
As far as I know they don't do the cruise from the showground to the pub any more. I'll aim to get to the Botolph for 2pm, so we can go take pics quickly before Chris has to shoot off. Won't be able to do a full clean of my car this weekend as I will be in Donnington all day Saturday so I my car will look a bit sorry for itself on the day.

What about at the next alldubzklub meet (1st Sunday of Nov)?

just to let you all know the repeat is now on zone reality +1
-
ye I've seen one or two on those prog's. Just cool to see one
-
Just watching zone reality and on the program called police in action there is a vw corrado being searched by the cops. Strange colour on the car, kinda gold looking. Program is based in Canada and car has beige leather and seat belts like the uk versions. cool to see one on tv in such detail.

Unless its a bit like yours and scared of tarmac ;) LOL!! Have you seen my soldering and electrical diagram reading skillz! I reckon it's brought the conversion date closer but not by much, mainly due to funds :-( Still aiming early next year
-
wahoo!! I now have the loom that goes to the fuse box!!! so happy and got it for a bargain. Just need to get it modified now
-
Think I may have sourced some wiring looms! Heres hoping that when they arrive from germany, there the correct ones. My German translation and all that lol
-
Wow!! You don't do things by half do you! If it's only a few wires that come out of the ECU to the cabin, how come you had Stealth do the work? I wonder what the other terminals control. You using standard clocks? Yeah sounds good, let me know when your thinking and Ill get cleaning. Got any places in mind for a back drop?
-
any update bud?
-
That sounds superb!! I haven't got the main loom ( i assume you mean interior part?) but if only some of the wires are used I can try and find a hacked up version and extend the wires myself. If thats true then I should be able to get the wiring done soon :-) If you can send me as much info as you can that would be brilliant and will buy you a pint at the next meet. :notworthy:

Hmmm My ECU seems to have many ecu pins, quite suprised how very few wires you have coming from yours. I can't tell at the moment with side of the ecu is interior and motor because the idiot scrap yard cut the loom and i have no connectors. luckily the engine loom is cheap ish from audi. My ECU is VAG 022 906 032 CA Bosch 0 261 208 087 Audi BDB engine, I will post some pictures of the ecu and connectors when I get home.
