Oh yes, a photo of the car before the bits went on, its like organised kaos
-
Just so you all know the car is being worked on, the heads on, exhaust, pulleys etc. The driveshaft pully keyway was f***ed and im glad to say that my friend whos an amazing genius managed to weld a lump to it and reshape the key way, god the fit was like virgin oil! lol saved me £1000 bottom end work... While the car is in my mates workshop i did a few jobs like the waxoil of the chassis, CV boot and the acclaimed MT90 gear box oil so just a question of getting it all together to start it up again for the first time in a year...

Mine has the scorpion boxer, looks n sounds gorgeous not too obvious, good on motorway and has lovely burble to it £400. Unfortunately the ppl who fitted it R-tec did a crap job of hanging it so forever plying with it to stop the knocking and melting bumper! The plus side is its got a lifetime warrentry and has no problems 5 years later 60K use.

Mmmmm except sea salt flakes appearing on it as it corrodes... Can you get it Laminated or electroplated to make cleaning easier?
-
Sould look better than that in the flesh mate :thumbleft:
-
Mmmm nice! The guy used a halfwits spray can in that pic... paint must be in the windscreen by now.. lol :norty:
-
Tasty! Send a pic when you get it!
-
Did you get it polished to bare metal or chromed up? :rocol: my mate did that with his celica engine, looked lovely for a few months, now it looks like the north sea...barnicles! :shocked!:
-
Blimey! Sounds like the high temp gloss was a bit brittle/thick for the job? I hope that wont happen for me, I work on the planes and the same paint doesnt chip or crack when bolts are turned... But thankyou, I have taken your advice, so that will be the next thing I get done if it does. When the cars all road worthy im getting it reprayed anyway!

I know I said Id have it running by now... but Im still waiting for my mates workshop! :censored: Next week Im promised! :drinking:

Disappearing Speaker Grills ???? Why ???
Ginger60 replied to PoorMansPorsche's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
GSF sold me some a few years ago for bout £20 quid, must say I just loved it when ppl get in my car and crush it in the door then stomp on it saying sorry as their foot then proceeds to drag it out the car again (yes mother you!) :censored: -
Guvner, im sorry to tell you this but it all happens because of aftermarket alarm immobilisers and over zealous bodging. When I first got my rad in 2001 the engine cut out intermittently cos of a dodgy immobiliser, I employed a monkey to fix it and yes it runs... but door buzzer doenst anymore... Check to see if there are any of those push-fit bridge connectors lurking in there... :drinking:

I got it polybead blasted then a mate at work who paints the aeroplanes used the special yellow aircraft primer and topcoats. :D The stuffs very hot/hardwearing but as you say time will tell  expect it will just be a fond memory after a week lol

Easy chaps, Just thought I would show you whats been happening so far... Ive just picked up the refurbed head from the engineering shop, its had a few exhaust guides redone, skimmed and all the hydraulic lifters replaced and cleaned up. Looks the biz cost me near £300 including the gasket set. Must mention someone advised me to use a metal head gasket as the paper ones dont last. Hoping to have the engine together at the weekend so let you know how it goes...
-
Yeah definately will do mate, good luck yourself! Cheers
-
LOL no im not, am trying to get the car going again as its been off the road a year :( But i am probably gonna do the tuning like a chip, 68mm pulley and KnN to pep her up a tad! Them BK299s look great on it what alloys you got? I has a scorpion boxer exhaust on it too... The guys skimming the head, new hydraulic valve lifters and guides around £200 quid just for that :cyclops2:
-
Yeah sound mate, Im waiting on my head to come back from the engineering shop then i'll be getting that on. Am renewing all the studs and gaskets, has you any advice with these engines?
-
Yeah thats exactly why I did it because it was discusting. Problem now is the rest of the engine will look like flies in my soup
-
Hi Guys, Im rebuilding my G60 and thought id show you my freshly painted rocker cover cos its SWEET and may give you ideas yourself! Cheers
-
Hi man, Must say I almost went for coilovers but decided against it in the end and I am glad I did because the standard gas shocks are a great ride but sporty too. But may still get them yet
-
Yeah man It happens quite often the trick is to be gentle and ease it in with two fingers letting the sycromesh do its magic. The 'box will never be like a motorbike so treat it easy i can advise mate

How fast have you had out of your standard VR?

Hi there I own a 91 corrado G60 and I easily managed to get 150 mph out of mine a few years ago (private road) the only difference being it has a stainless exhuast! :scatter: However saying that its now been off the road knackered for a year as I prepare to rebuild it
