to put it in some sort of context, most corrados are over 10 years old and dont seem to suffer the same corrosion problems associated with the likes of ford, vauxhall etc, i have owned xr`s and performance lancia`s, i may be wrong but i`m sure the metal used is thicker ( it definately is made from better materials ), the interiors on these cars also , in general, still in very good order, the doors thud when they shut, rattles are usually due to someone leaving a fixing out when putting things back together - generally speaking, they are are more thoughtout than your average badge engineered souped up family car. i think that if you buy one you will see what all the fuss is about, it`s more about smiles per gallon in a car that isn`t such a common sight on our roads, that said, you got to make sure you buy a decent one in the first place and you sound like the sort of bloke that can pick out a lemon pretty quickly.

The definitive "what exhaust?" discussion thread!
gaz the geezer replied to Jim's topic in Engine Bay
Still fitted with original vw exhaust, it`s not leaking but staring to show signs of old age, i`d like to keep it standard and replace with another vw exhaust -
Headgasket on the way out - what should i be paying?
gaz the geezer replied to PoorMansPorsche's topic in Engine Bay
once you get the engine back together again it would also be a good idea to get a few hundred miles under your belt and change the oil and filter again, when the head comes off and the gasket is scraped off you tend to get particles of gasket / carbon go down the oil return drillings, if the person doing the job for you actually gives a t*ss then this will be minimal, whatever the dilligence applied to your head build i`d def give it another oil change. -
mmmmmm....they would look ok as long as the brake assemblies are up together but as a preference i like wheels that kinda hide the discs a bit IMO. but they are nice all the same.
-
but did you get the right price though

..christ on a bike !! how many !!, i was pretty fortunate really except for the fact i had to contend with 5 chav type `erberts who were just everywhere, i had to shut the garage door down to keep the b*ggers out and keep the car keys in my pocket, they parked in a really inconsiderate manner and wouldnt move when a neighbour wanted to park outside his own garage because " we`ll be gone in a minute" , he certainly was gone in a minute because i`d run out of patience and refused to sell to him because of his abrasive, rude manner, - pleasantries exchanged and good bye :agrue:

Would waxoyl not start to flake away after time tho, could be problematic for coilovers?? not really, waxoyl tends to creep over time so it sort of self heals, i`ve still got waxoyl on my rear axle, having said that i have no idea when it was applied but it`s doing it`s business, i`ll admit that the springs may suffer from a bit of cracking but i would have thought the threaded section was more important
