    g60 intercooler??

 I said ladies shoebox 'cos I've got size 13 feet, so a shoebox for me would be 3 times the size of the standard Corrado intercooler... Makes it a right git to get nice shoes... and hi-heels are a real no-no.... ;)

    clutch prob

yup, the clutch pedal has it's own return spring, so that explains that bit for you... New slave cylinder for you I think... also check the flexy pipe with the coil of pipe in it which feeds the slave cylinder... these have a habbit of leaking from the flexible part which can cause similar problems...
  3. nah, 's not a stupid question at all... 8) The piston should only be able to go up and down in the bore unless it's actually broken... Should mean that at least the block is salvagable... The problem is that the CONROD has been floating around at the top end where it is inside the piston AND at the bottom where it attaches to the crank... could well mean that the piston AND crank are shafted... :| I'll find out tonight when I pull the pistons out to have a look... :| Incidentally, The block has already been re-bored to 83mm which is about as far as you can take the block without risking the cylinder walls being too thin... so if the bores are damaged, it's new engine time...
  4. nope, it's just crap... ;) Phone 'em in the morning, they're much better on the phone than on the web... (just as well really with a site that bad! ;) )
  5. nope, welcome to the world of Corrado door handles... you need a new one, or you could get a set of Passat rear handles and locks to get rid of the key hole in the handle... 8) GPC is your best bet for one....
  6. Well, I've just dropped the sump... not good... :( Quite a bit of swarf isn't a good thing to see in the sump... removed the oil pump and endcap on 4 to check for wear on the shells... There's visibile wear on the shell in 4's cap... also not good... :( Pushed the piston up into the bore a bit to get it off the crank and there's some SERIOUS play on the top end of the con-rod... side to side (front to back of the block) and twisting too... worst sign... :( Tomorrow after work I'll whip the head off, pull piston 4 outta the block and see just how fubar'd she is... 8) Keep watching... Things may have to get a bit sillier from now on with this engine... ;) pics will follow... 8)
  7. The G60 was available as both Pre and Post EXTERIOR face lift... However, the later interior came in slightly later than the exterior changes so the G60 was never was fitted with the later switchgear/dash and interiors from the factory 'cos they'd finished production by then...

    g60 intercooler??

it's about the size of a ladies shoebox and lives just in front of the left hand front wheel... open the bonnet and follow the big black plastic pipes down below the battery and you'll see it... 8)
  9. TV system.... gives me something to do as I wait for the breakdown truck to arrive.... AGAIN.... :( Seriously though? Erm, other than the engine, gearbox, brakes and suspension, probably the Moonroof conversion.... makes the whole interior sooo much brighter when the screen is open... 8)
  10. you didn't speak to a bloke called "dave" at HIC did you redlee? Similar thing happened with me... Quoted £700ish renewal came in at £1200... :| The guy I spoke to (on about the 4th phone call) told me that "they are no longer honoring quotes given by that ex-employee...."
  11. Got the silvertech bulbs in ALL of my indicators and they make a hell of a visual difference to the clear FKs, and side repeaters... 8) I'd also say that they are as bright as the normal coloured bulbs were too... 8)

    Happy 200k!

nice one Andi! Glad to see you finallly joined the 200K+ club safely... 8)
  13. The tweeters settle down after a little while and loose the tinny-ness... ;) 8)
  14. check your idle switch isn't jammed (either on or off) and that the vacuum hoses are all in good condition (especially the one from the throttle body to the ECU which needs to be 100cm long) Also, swap the blue and black water temp sensor's wiring plugs over (blue onto black and black onto blue) and see if that helps. If it does, you need a new blue temp sensor... 8)
  15. It IS supposed to be yellow and black. It's a non-return valve for the vacuum to the brake servo. It's molded onto the plastic pipe which runs to the brake servo so isn't very cheap to replace, and is an utter pig to fit into the brake servo end (trust me, I've just replaced mine during my rebuild and the scars are still healing! :| ) It's not a mega expensive pipe (around £30 IIRC) but you're a bit stuffed without it... you may be able to get one off a scrapper though... Oh, and yes, I snapped off the same bit on mine too...
  16. Joe M, it was set up with the timing spot on... the cam timing was only out since I changed the head gasket... Think about the noise you'd imagine an engine to make if you left a socket in the head and ran the engine, and that's about right.... :| Complete sack of spanners kinda noise... :( I'm gonna strip the engine when I get up later on today now that I'm back from my holiday, and I've a few new plans just in case it's nasty in there... The good signs so far are that the oil that I've drained out is: a) about 4.5 litres, so it hasn't used any b) swarf free, so there aint too much loose metal in there making BIG messes... 8) I'll post back when I've cracked open the engine and had a good look... :|
  17. yeah, I was there and chatted to you for a bit... I was the nutter attacking the Genesis G40 with the Gaffa tape after Bevis managed to blow up his stand alone oil pump... ;) Good point about the rotating thing though, not thought about it like that.... 8)
  18. The best way of removing or replacing a sunroof is with the sunroof closed, so you should have no problems unless the kink is severe, in which case the frame of the sunroof will be buckled anyway and it'll be knackered... :| Tailgate roof trim off, A, B and C pillar trims loosened, roof liner out the boot, then just unbolt it.... 8)

    Roof Strips

yup, got a pair sat behind me now for when my C goes in for respray... cost about £75 delivered from GPC... 8)
  20. I'm pretty certain that Vince told me that the internals of the Corrado gear boxes are ALL interchangable, it's just the bell housing which stops you being able to swap the box complete.... You'd need to speak to him about it to confirm that though...
  21. Side exit sidepipes? IMHO, it's a pants idea mate... throwing unburnt fuel/hydrocarbons and oily residues out on over-run just infront of your rear tyres as you come into a corner while engine braking just REALLY sounds like a stupid idea to me... Throw the emissions outta the back where they an only mess about with the poor sods following you! ;)  The ONLY reason the 427 cobra (the only one to actualyl have side exits from factory) had them is 'cos they couldn't get the exhausts outta the back 'cos there wasn't enough room under the car for the pipework!
  22. 25row? Sheesh, that bugger's gonna run cold! Mine's got a 19row on it and runs in the low 80s to mid 90s on a heavy run (oil temps!) a 25 row will struggle to ever get more than a couple of degrees above the thermostat's opening temp IMHO...
  23. dunno, I know that the basic design is identical, but I think that the way that it's mounted may be inverted, so the butterfly opens up the other way around (cable pulls from the opposite side) on the Porsche version... maybe someone here with a Porsche 924/944 can give us a clue by posting a pic of their throttle body... (Hints at Rodders... ;) )
  24. bummer... I know this feeling ALL too well... :| Hope you can get it sorted easily and, knowing your knack for getting stuff for bargain prices, I'm sure it'll be back bigger, better, stronger and faster in the near future.... ;) 8)
