nope, went out for a mate's 40th yesterday at 3pm and didn't get back in 'til 4:30am... I've then had to go to my twin cousins' christening in Mansfield which has wiped out today and I'm off on holiday at 4am tomorrow for a week.... :| Guess I'll find the problem next weekend... I can confirm that it's NOT head related though and the piston tops all look fine... :|

you touch the key and the stereo comes back on? Ignition switch replacement time for you matey! :D There's a rather good guide on how to do this in the "how to" section, and the part will only cost you about £25 tops.... If I were you I'd do this sooner rather than later as when they start to go faulty there's not normally a lot of time until they fail completely... :|

yeah, I saw that and was gonna MSN you about it tonight in case you hadn't spotted it... 8) I'm not in there though, and my times haven't got my surname after them either... :? (just listed as IAN.... :| )

damn it, I'm soooo tempted by that Andi.... may have to come down and crash on your floor for a night while I have a look at that motor if he's still got it next weekend.... ;) 8)

is your MKI wired to have a 2 stage coolant fan? Odds are if it's still using the MKI wiring to the fan it isn't and there's your problem straight away... :| Sitck a Mocal on as Supercharged, suggests and that'll knock your temps down a shed load, and then consider a Pacet fan (from http://www.thinkauto.com ) or similar and a different radiator and rad-fan switch.... Should be able to knock 20degrees off both those temps with very little hassle... 8)

with Phatty on this one ALL the way from that last post... 8)

it's more about Torque than revs... avoid full throttle entirely.... My way of bedding in engines tended to be: upto 1000 miles, less than 50% throttle and less than 40% max revs with an oil change at 500 and 1000 miles to get rid of any swarf... upto 3000 miles less than 75% throttle and 65% max revs. Oil change at 3000. upto 5000 miles less than 80% max revs and try not to boot it all the time! Oil change at 5000. past then, drive as normal with oil changes every 5 or 6K miles.... 8)

OWWWW!!!! 305mm 4 studs for 518+VAT?!? you can get the Brembo 4 pot kit for under £450 INC VAT which is the same size.... :|

True, your BHP figure's won't change much, if at all, but your in gear acceleration will be radically changed.... 8) We used to lighten Beetle flywheels when I worked at a Beetle specialists and we could easily knock a second or two of the 0-60 times with just this mod after fitting some other mods to the engine... 8) (flywheel mod performance change AFTER other mods! ;) )

Whats the highest ouput (BHP) you can get out of a g60?????
Henny replied to doof's topic in Engine Bay
BigEastsideVWG60, I'd appreciate it if you'd edit your post up at the top to get the quote right... I just stated that you got 240ish BHP at a rolling road... I didn't make any comments on the accuracy or what I thought of those results. :| I thought I'd add this in here rather than editing it myself so that there's no confusion as to why it was edited. -
*cough* I said gear ratios *cough* Final drive DOES vary between golf, Passat and Corrado VR6 boxes... Sorry, should have made that clear before...

Front and rear damage on a 1.8 16v causing it to be an insurance write off? It's a shame to break it yes, but sadly not cost effective to fix it either unless you are a bodywork specialist yourself... :(
-
  Looks good dr_mat, about time you posted them up... I like the arty shot... shows off the paint nicely... I hadn't realised yours was a black/black Corrado, have you got aircon in there too? :onfire:

couldn't tell ya what the track widths are supposed to be... :| All I know is that I needed to get the tracking re-set as the 11mm per side obviously changed the tracking enough that it was gonna scrub my tyres if I'd have left it alone... I'm considering putting spacers on the rear too just to even it up a little, but that's just a cosmetic thing.... 8)

there IS a couple of bolts in the engine bay and in the scuttle areas which hold the dash to the firewall... can't remember how many though... :|

Removal and fitting guides for 2.0L16V and G60 engines
Henny replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Suppliers Forum
actually Andy, it's easier if you remove the slam panel rather than popping the ball joints as then you can just take out the front subframe and pull the engine out straight through the front of the car rather than having to lift it over the front... it also means you can still move the car on it's wheels should you need to as long as you tie up the axles loosely... 8) -
nope, I can confirm that ALL UK VR6 gearboxes (except 4x4 versions) used the same gear ratios... 8)
-
I've got 11mm spacers on the fronts to clear the brembos... no spacers on the rear... I can safely say that it hasn't affected the handling that I've noticed and I have given her some real stick over the last couple of months on drag strips, sprint circuits, and test tracks, so I think I'd have noticed any bad side effects by now! ;)

it's still got the stigma of the Skoda badge associated with it, even though these days, they bear as much resemblance to an old Skoda as does a Ferrari! They're excellent motors, I've been hanging my nose over a Fabia 1.9 TDI 130 for a while now as some of those go for silly cheapness! 8)
