ummm. big feet don't help with that big plastic thing next to the throttle pedal...

8) another one saved... 8)

the way the power is delivered is different... VR6 has LOTS of low down grunt compared with the G60 and is more of a cruiser. G60 needs more gear changes to get moving as well as a VR... It's basically just down to that... handling is very similar between the two despite the slightly heavier VR6 engine...

Top Marques in Stoke do a VERY good job for reasonable money... 8) They've done 25 wheels for me now and I've been very happy with all of 'em... 8)

paddyg, solid brown is always earth on VW cars... ;) I think you'll be able to work it out from there pretty easily...
-
G60 suffers to 60 due to a rubbish 2nd gear ratio... There's not a lot in it between a standard stage 4 G60 and a standard VR6 otherwise...
-
have a look at both and go for the one that's got the best history and feel to it... an 85K car with no history which has been owned by a clueless owner will be far worse than a 113K car with a good history which has been owned by someone who cares for it... At the end of the day, they're 10 year old cars, so any with under 160K miles are still lower than average milage... ;)

sounds like you may have a severe vacuum leak... that'd screw up both the running of the engine AND the brakes as described... check that the black and yellow valve on the pipe to the servo is OK and that the little take off pipes from it are intact and either blanked off properly or connected to a pipe which is connected to something else with no splits...

Sometimes My Clutch Just Sticks To The Floor!?
Henny replied to BlackHeartValentine's topic in Interior
there's a spring on the clutch pedal which sometimes sticks if the pedal is pressed further than normal. It sounds like you may have a leak (as suggested above) or you need to bleed the clutch hydraulics as something is probably making the pedal go down further than normal. It'd also help if you lube up the pivot on the clutch pedal and the linkage to the master cylinder, as 10+ years of crud off peoples feet tends to gather in the pivot grease and clog it up somewhat... -
dunno, but I'm in the process of modding my none VAG towbar so that it's got a removable gooseneck... ;) From what I remember of the VAG ones, they need quite a visible chunk outta the bottom of the bumper... :(
-
nope... all the reccommended rebuilders are daaaaawn saarrrfff.... /northern monkey

also worth investigating your wishbone bushes, top-mounts and balljoints... if they've gone soggy, your brakes will feel all over the shop... :|
-
waheyyy!!! got it right then... 8)
-
You ain't doing it right then... you need to sand the parts to be glued in order to get the glue to key in properly, otherwise you ain't gonna get much to stick to it at all... :|

AAA = 2.8 VR6 ABV = 2.9 VR6 9A = 2.0 16V 2E = dunno, but I think it's a 2.0 8V KR = 1.8 16V PG = 1.8 G60 ADY = 2.0 8V
-
WTF did they hit that with?!? Any ideas why they did this?
-
seriously though, Merc do a 3.2l supercharged engine kicking 349bhp in the baby convertable... bet you could squeeze similar into a 'rat...8)
-
Andi? Yes, it's inline, not transverse.... but that's SOOOO EASY to supercharge... 8) All you need is some brackets, a BIG merc Eaton Supercharger, a longer belt and access to an Angle Grinder!!!
-
I've had a GSF rad for my G60 before and it was fine until an incident with a Sang-Yyong Muso... :( I'm currently using a EuroCarParts one as they had one in stock when I needed it and it's been fine... 8)

it'll be a straight swap if you're using the Corrado gearbox... (mine's a 1H blokc) You WILL have to change a couple of bolts that hold the gearbox onto the engine though as they're bigger on the Rallye engine as the box needed more attaching being a 4wd version... There's an older thread HERE that had most of the details discussed in it previously... 8)
-
it's silly money, forget very expensive!!! Forge do one aimed at replacing the rallye/Golf G60 one, but I'm unsure as to if it fits like the factory one or not... I know Darren can supply some he's designed, so it may be worth having words with him... ;)
-
yeah, the difference is around 10mm... you wouldn't really notice the difference unless you were looking for it. As said though, it's a straight swap.
