  1. Great stuff. It will be leather trimmed so not too worries about it being faded. The leather is tightly stretched so it might show any distortion. With mine, you could see it had lifted slightly to one small area. To be honest, it could be the speaker grill thats out but either way, its for my trimmer to get his hands on and can do a swap when its done. Happy days
  2. Why not leave it as it is? Give it a good polish and job done? I have some very good condition pads if you really want to replace them? Some do stainless steel cut inserts but depends the on what you like?
  3. This is how its looking so far. The second from last pic, there are these 2 green wires, one green, the other green and white. They were from a plug from up near the fuse board to the ecu adaptor? Also a red/ white and brown/ white wire go to the one of the 4 white blocks - fuseboard end. They are not attached at one end. Hopefully I wont need to buy another loom and start again!
  4. Im stuck again mate.... I have a green wire that needed removed and after tracing it, it goes to the engine multi plug. Have I got that wrong somehow? Or should all wires coming off the main engine plug have a function? Also, I have a green connector block near the fuse board end, is this the air con possibly? Shall I ditch it? I just hope I havent got carried away. The fan control module, do I just use the rado one? Therefore removing all of it and what its connected to on the obd2? Part of this goes to a plug near the smaller group of plugs. Should that be removed? The 3 yellow plug at the fuseboard end, are these to go? The pics attached, the plugs are attached to each other and wanted to check if these are to go also? The first pic shows how my fuse board end currently looks but I am waiting for the words of 'ditch that''? lol
  5. Had the tracking done today on a very cool machine that takes digital pictures. I drove onto the ramp and we had to jack the car up to get her over the centre ramp jack, then we could roll the car forwards and backwards as it takes into account anything out of kilter with the wheels. All the mechanics came by to have a look and chat. Decent people and the guy who did my car was really carefull and used sheets to protect the arches and was the main trained guy so I was happy. Some pics of the machine and of course the rado. Still with crappy iphone but im working on that. Car now much smoother and better over the bumpy roads.
  6. Thanks for update, just wondering if we did it in 2 stages, i.e dash is more important for me and will weigh much less than the seatbelts. I wanted the seat belts as spares as one of my labels on the driver seatbelt at the bottom is looking tired, so no biggy. Or I can pay you for them and if we have a corrado meet or something collect then? This might not sit well with you but an idea.
  7. Do these need to go? Sorry for the 1000's of questions....
  8. Ok, I am nearly there, just one plug on yours I dont seem to have, and I have one or 2 questions please.... I have taken some pics. The yellow plug in the attached pic, do I remove that? Towards the end of your thread you removed the brown thick wire with the connector at the end, I have done that but thats attached to a few other wires with a couple of plugs. Im thinking they should go but wanted to double check. Every snip I panic! Also, there is another wire thats purple and white and it goes into the ecu plug slot, do I need to remove that or jjust snip off? It was a wire that I think was part of another plug/wiring that needed removed. I been tracing them back and this one definately goes into the euc plug. Im worried now I fudged it up. Maybe not? Cheers my loom lord
  9. am i cutting out the largish grommit that would go through the bulk head to replace it with the corrado grommit. Just started stripping it and doing it now...... Ta
  10. Yup, cool. I called TPS for the loom tape and he couldnt see a listing. Is there a part number? Also, the lanba sensor, just to double check, I need one of those for OBD2? Just quote 98 pounds from TPS. If VW dont sell the lom tape, where did you end up buying your tape from? Is what you used stronger or better?
  11. Did you remove the lighting loom from the fuseboard or did you leave that plugged in and delete what wasn't required?
  12. Dash looks fine to me, has the sun destorted any part of it? Mine currently has a slight bow..... What can we do on a sent package for seat belts and dash? Can send payment today by paypal if your happy with that. Ta Rams
  13. So over all, you are mighty impressed, thats good news. Also, a big thank you as it must have taken you a while and then to type it all up for the benefit of others is excellent. It's also very clear to read and digest. Top man! I will let you know how it goes next weekend, I could make a start with stripping the loom now, which will save some time. Like the coloured coded engine bits and strut brace, looks beef cake
  14. Hi, I would like the dashboard please. Is this from a late car? I would also like the seatbelts. Could I see a pics please?
  15. I swapped the spacers round so the 40 mm are on the front now and 35 on the rear. Car sits well now. Rear ARB now grinded down and painted as it was fouling the dampner adjuster. Now I can reach the adjuster and turn it so I can get the ride how I want it. I think the car needs raising a touch on the back and making a bit stiffer. Its a battle with how low and how firm really and how it dives in and out of the bends. The wider front spacers seem to have lost a bit of weight in how the steering wheel returns. That could be the fact the car hasn't been tracked yet. This is booked in for monday for a 4 wheel alignment. I wanted to give my self a week of trying different heights and set up so once it was tracked up it would be spot on. After swapping the spacers over, I went to the bank and kurbed my rim. My newly painted rims! Was so angrey with myself and put it down to the 5 mm extra width from the spacer as I took the paint off and didnt really chip the alloy so I was within 5mm of the kerb! Thats my drivers excuse anyway. Popped striaght down to the body shop and when they re do the door they will sort the rim out for me. The new guide on the wikki for obd2 conversion looks just the ticket. I have been after a simple step to step guide. I wll be printing it out and refering to it and will remove my loom so there no cutting. Feel its a more long term kind of job with the wiring. The battle between turbo and supercharger is still on going. I know the Turbo will feel extra alive but having over 400 bhp to me in front wheel drive is just possibly wasting money / design for the roads around here. I am now leaning more towards a stong engine block, nice big rotrex supercharger and aim for the 300 bhp figures with a traction control system and enjoy a lovely sound and smooth power to add to what already is a smooth v6 engine. I am browsing the rotrex and vortex superchargers and seeing what they are all about. I would love to jump into the car and be able to muscle in with some of the faster cars, the feeling I have driving this car just makes me appreciate what I have done. I took a spin into town last night and the car was really getting attention, I even saw a young lad with a dropped jaw whilst sitting in traffic. I was allowing 100 meter gaps between me and anyone large groups of drunks crossing the road. lol
  16. If you plan to run AC at a later date, can you just leave the AC loom on the OBD 2 in place? Mine goes in on Saturday for the conversion. I have the key and transponder. I've printed the wiring diagram kindly sent by another member for golf and corrado to help my guy Chubby. Could I have this all done in a day from morning to evening do you think? Is the OBD2 lamba definately required? Also, do you have any pics and will you be doing a more involved write up? As in, where you started and what you might do differently if at all? I just want to get as much info as required to assist my man. Kevhaywire, you mentioned taking a 12 v supply for fan control module, could you expand on this as im guess the wiring is straight forward to a degree in terms of what goes where. Did you remove the brake servo as others have done? Have you sorted the rough running issue you had?
  17. how are you getting on? I picked up a complete obd2 loom today and keen to get mine in. Are there any advantages of running with the obd2 fuse board when converting?
  18. Cheers Mr Lobitos, I knew there would be a Nige with a vr, I figured its value was be more appreciated towards a Nigel than ''nice vr''. Its obviously N16 EVR with altered spacing. Just to clarify. Plus today I picked up a complete, perfect condition OBD 2 loom! I have finally found one! So now I have 1 and half OBD 2 looms, ECU, Key, transponder, plastic and metal intake pipe, and complete polished OBD2 Manifold. Wondering if I should buy the sp cams as part of the engine rebuild? I also bought the fuseboard as a spare, spare relays etc but are there advantages of running an OBD 2 Fuse board over my current board? I know the plugs go in eitherway but didnt know if the board was better? I even have the downpipe. Going to do a bit of a read on the conversion for the 3rd time till I fully know what I have to do.
  19. I like your style, Do they ever stay standard! lol
  20. I went today to drop off the engine lift and the chap I bought the bits from has given me a few more bits. Like another block with a duplex chain from Golf VR, plus the other engine which is a single chain. I believe the later golfs has the duplex chain so im thinking it must be stronger and that I should indeed build the 2.8 duplex one. Maybe your right, no point in spending twice especially as my engine is pulling well. Im running 288 as present but when I change the wheels for 17's, I will upgrade them to 312 or something similar. I will get the block sorted and speak to a couple of installers and see what they say.
  21. Would anyone be intrested if I put the attached number plate up flor sale? I do like it, thats why I bought it but I have been asked a few times if my name is Nigel. lol Most people say Nice VR though. It would really work well if your name was Nigel / Nige and had a vr. I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this topic so apologise now if incorrect. Just testing the water, Ive included a picture to show you
  22. Also, I will float the idea of selling my number plate, I have seen something else Im tempted with and a few people now think im called Nige. So, if there are any Nigels out there you could have a very cool number plate to go with your VR. It is only an idea at present......
  23. The car is booked to have a full detail polish, there are a few swirl marks that need polishing out. Just in the lacquer. Also the door need to be re done. The day I collected the car the door pin wasnt adjusted correctly and I had to slam the door to get it closed. I had to do this a few times as each time wasnt hard enough. This created some movement in the panel / swage line and subsequently has a 4 cm crack in the paint. You can only see it at a certain position but the cills are not great either. I wanted these smooth and in some parts they are and others, you see the stipple. This is booked in for the 14th March. The door needs stripping back and re doing but we have enough paint left over. All the inner arches have been cleaned and painted in black hammered finish hammerite. Looks nice and tidy, not that you can see into the arches now its low. But its protected. But overall, im very happy and have cleaned the car twice in 3 days! I did enjoy flying around having a play with Craig, forum member with a lovely vr, slammed and mega wide wheels. I picked my mum up yesterday and even she was impressed and told my dad on the fone that Ramsay's Storm was done! Love the fact she called it a Storm and not a Corrado. lol. I punched second gear and watched my mums face turn white as she shouted 'oh my god'! Then the spped chat followed, she said, you do have all the speed out of your system from your younger days havent you and you will be careful won't you..... Yes Mum!
  24. I wanted to show everyone the detail I went into with the trimmed items. The visors were trimmed in alcantara and I wanted to retain both mirrors and lights. My guy managed to do a superb job and even painted the grey plastic brackets satin black. One extra bit he did for me was leather trim the plastic slider for the mirror. I just love it! The more I said how amazing he was, the more he did for me! The ashtray was even trimmed to match it all in. The mirror was trimmed and taken into bits so he could get the job as he wanted it, some pics attached. The headliner wouldnt really come out in the photo but once I buy a good camera, I will get some nice pics up. I had the bonnet prop painted too. just for fun and protected where it clipa into the keep. What do you think?
