Stan I love your Corrado mate.... I wish I had your car with that engine in it, thats what I would love to do next but it would make the car far too expensive to keep.... how much does it cost matey
-
Mate.... I really do know how you feel. Back in the day when I only had 1 car  I purchased a Corrado Storm and it did set me back a few pennies.... Anyhow After living with it for awhile, I couldn't do with living with such an old car and was sick of the petrol I was putting into... So I sold it at a loss and purchased a Golf gti Turbo and loved the car just for the refinements and the fact I was keeping up with the neighbours  Eventually I missed the Corrado.. I was watching the modding scene and knew I needed a car that I could mess about with... So I purchased a MK2 Golf and although I made suttle mods I just missed the Power of the Vr so I sold that and purchased a Corado G60..... Couldn't gel with that either as its just not as refined as the Vr and sold that too..... My moto of my story is.... I've now got a Vr and I'm happy.... Ok its not my daily car and I'd never have it as a daily car, but Its nice just to have something that I can pick up and put down when ever it suits me... Sooo.... For me slightly modding is financially feesable, but anything that costs me ££££ to do... then that defy's my original intention, Cheapish Toy!!!!! Has that made any sense.... Sorry

Exactly. You never know what the other engine's been through, and unless you are very careful, it might end up needing new chains too, or worse. I'd say do the chains, £650 is very cheap for a low miler, I'd expect more around £700-850 TBH, but you need to know it's not been treated badly. I learned the hard way that low milage isn't everything on these cars, mine had big end problems at 80k, it'd probably been treated badly at some point. I had to swap mine for one with 50k on the clock, and while it works, i've still had a few teething problems, as with most 10 year old engines that've been sitting in a scrappy for a while. It'd probably cost much more to swap the block too, since the work involved is probably about the same hours-wise. If you do the work yourself, it'd be the difference between the price of then chains, or the price of an engine, plus plugs, oil, filters, coolant, P/S fluid, etc., it all starts to mount up very quickly. Thats a good point there matey..... I think the 1st thing to do is change my oil pump. Again there isn't anything wrong with it, but I have been told if the VR is on high miles...the pumps seem to wear slightly causing oil starvation to the cams.... Then I'll put it in for the chains to be done :) Once I've got it all sorted, it'll be ready for the next step..... 8)

Mmmm.... See my engines on around 145k now, which ok these things do seem to go on forever, Surely I'd be better off with a low mileage Vr??? I think it would be alot easier to take the engine out on the drive than send it somewhere to get the chains done.... I could pull the whole engine and box out from the front ??? I'm not to sure if in the future... I may go down the supercharger route.... Plus If I ever sell it in the future at least it will have lowish miles...
-
I'm having a moment of mad thinking...... Ok.. Is it better to look for a replacement engine with low mileage rather than have the chains replaced on a high miler VR ???? Which is most cost effective???? Chains your looking at around £500 - £850 (Dependant on head gasket) Replacement Vr with lowish miles... say 60k-80k about £650 Some opinions guys....

I'm just wondering if the Corrado 2.9 shares the same Gear box as the Golf 2.8 ???? thank you
-
You lucky Git!!!!! I think If I ever got rid of the Corrado, I'd replace it with a Mk3 Vr6.... Full of comfort.. Easy modded and can be a family car :)
-
Yes  But its normally down to the drainage holes being blocked.... mine was!!

I do fancy one of these once I've got other things I need to buy out the way  Question:- Can the light sequence be adjusted as from watching the latest VID I noiced it hits the amber point too soon for my liking really... I think it needs to be spaced out abit more and so the red comes on as you start to hit the limiter.... -
Horrible rattling, any clues? VR6, PROBLEM FOUND, NOT

It wont hurt changing the Oil pump as although they are not a common fault with VR6's they slightly wear with high miles and just slightly under perform.. I was told this by a VR6 mad head... that knows them inside out!!! He's gonna be doing my chains and stuff when they eventually need doing and he's advised me to defo replace it..... It would be something you'll be able to do yourself too :) -

I'd wip the sump off and replace the oilpump!!! Think they're about £120 from the dealers... and see if it takes the noise away... I reckon the pump is knack'd... although your not actually losing oil pressure it could be stuggling to work and on its last legs... -
I'm kinda liking those front tints..... tbh I think it only works well on a black car tho...
-
Nice work dude..... I wonder how much they charge me for just the 312 caliper carriers??? Need a set for the Golf tdi...
-
Thats looks well.... Nice sort of standard OEM stance. Well done matey...
-
As it says really... is it 57.1????
-
In reality, Its the whole package.... I'm doing alot of around town driving at the moment and sometimes using the motorways... When your getting 40+mpg your laughing..... I do like my C but just the whole easy driving at the moment in these winter months I love driving it on a daily basis... I'm thankful the C is more of a weekend car, although I haven't used it now in months  ... I don't think I could live with it as my main car

While I was getting my PD130 remapped..... There was a guy on the rollers, who also had a pd130 but his was alittle special.. Firstly he'd replaced all shitty plastic thin pipes with some oversized aly ones... Had an uprated front mounted intercooler and uprated turbo.... Anyhow, it ran on the rollers and his figures produced after a live map was astonishing!!!! Just shy of 220bhp with 335 lb ft torq... He also has a secret weapon... NOS!!!! After the mapping was done he let me take the car for a spin... And bloodyhell, the car was breath taking. My stomach had never been churned as much before in a car.... Now thats what I'm aiming for.... Talking to the guy it didn't really cost him a fortune either......

Mk4 pd130 and pd150's are holding a good stance in the market at present.... Suppose it is down to performance combined with economy.... Sounds about right price tho....
-
No Worries... Since Purchasing the Golf I haven't touched the Rado... Been parked up!! TBH its just the whole package that does it for me...... Economy, style, leathers, performance etc... Maybe in the summer I'll get the urge for the Petrol again.... TBH there is afew other things that you do ned to check, before purchasing!!!! If you want I'll PM you my mobile number and while your there checking the car you can give me a bell to go over them

Don't forget these Diesels also came in different specs.... For example mine is a propper Gt Tdi with all the gti suspension and specifications etc...
-
Ok.... Here's alittle helper for you.... firstly the difference between the pd130 and pd150 is the 150 have a front mounted intercooler, also the Turbos are slightly bigger than the early pd130 although the later spec 130's come with the same... The other difference is the mapping.... At around the 60k mark.. yes the cambelt is an expensive job. The rear axel bushes seam to wear abit thin too, which is a bit of nightmare to do if your D.I Y although a local garage will charge you about £100 plus a parts which are pretty cheap even from the stealers.... Silly little things like the MAF sensor is a common fault, which is slightly costly to replace, at around £60 from the stealers.... And last but not least the Coolant tempm sensor goes which causes issues with running but again dead cheap to buy and easy to fix... Really though they are great cars..... I've just purchased a fully loaded pd130 and recentlt had is remapped.. Its acheiving 185bhp with 314nm torque The wow factor to these cars is the torque all day long.... 0-60 don't even think about it, I know now that this gives an R32 a very good run for its money through a series of dual carriageways... Mate... Good examples of these are hard to find... My advise is BUY IT!!! You wont regret it  P.S It wasn't just the diesel anniversary golfs that came with 150bhp... And all Anniversary models came in a 3dr, and on 52-plates only
