  9. the two switches for the pedals,i thought they were for cruise control, wondering if i have now bitten of more than i can chew
  10. how have you mounted the accelerator servo? ive been tempted to extend the wiring and run it of the standard cable in the engine bay.
  11. the start of my tdi conversion,1z diesel going in this standard turbo is a tad small for me,so i am considering something along the lines of volvo 6cyl t3 turbo,it may get replaced for a newer unit without the built in actuator.Cast t3 manifold brand new 30.00 from ebay. dash and g60 loom out b4 tdi loom in where do these go i wonder? donor lump awaiting its new home this is the mass of spaghetti masquerading as a golf wiring loom now ive never been one to shy away from wiring unless its canbus, but trying to sort this loom had me perplexed.as luck would have it that's when i started reading purple toms build and decided to go for the b4 loom instead. more wiring to go in,immobilizer, accelerator servo ect ect 80k 1z from mk3 golf variant.150.00 for engine, loom, gearbox ect ect from my local breakers
  12. wish i had gone for a b4 donor,my mk3 loom looks like a big bundle of spaghetti.getting there very slowly, question for you how much room is there from the back of the block to the firewall? i am thinking of using a audi/volvo t3 turbo.
  13. well done mate,i am doing the same conversion to my raddo. But with nowhere near the same pace,im still stripping the diesel loom of bits i don't need.never one for doing things the easy way my donor is from a mk3,seeing yours up and running has inspired me to get more stuck into mine.question whats the white 80amp fuse & holder(thick red&white wire) responsible for?
  14. needs to go lower, any updates?
  15. yeah but what you going to do with the rusty one?
  16. sounds good, you not bothering with that exhaust then?
  17. no turning back now,ive been out and pillaged a mk3 estate 90bhp tdi,so far i have lump/complete engine loom& ecu/shifter mechanism/clocks/transponder ect/pedal box, accelerator fly by wire doo dah/maf.have i forgotten anything?really wanted to see mikki jaynes thread pictures,as i think the pictures would come in handy :)
  18. going down this route,so looking for some info :)
  19. i think the original alarm indicator/flasher is a 3volt bulb not a led,the replacement led you have should work if you remove the inline resistor,if the led itself is not 12v.If you require any leds let us know as i have several including clifford originals.
  20. not trying to hijack this thread, but while we are discussing sunroofs is it possible to wire a late motor to early wiring? i ask as ive got another moonroof which has had the motor changed, and the wrong screws fitted and from memory after doing it myself, the screws will not come out.
  21. big thanks to r4-ge for sorting those pcd adapters :)
  22. Just had a minor brainwave - the capacity of my stand-alone sump is about 500ml, and the rest of the pipework a little less, so instead of having a sump and a cooler, you could just fit the cooler, as it will have an internal capacity of about 1/2 litre, no? If that seems a bit risky (don't know why though  ) you could just pop some vanes/heatsink onto the sump itself (especially if it is more rectangular than mine), and mount it somewhere it will get some coolish airflow... Would be cheaper than a cooler, and you may only want 10-15C of cooling anyway, to keep the oil at a decent operating temperature and reduce internal frictional resistance in the charger? i love it when a plan comes together :) deffo sticking with a oil reservoir as my cooler is a power steering cooler from a Nissan so its smaller than the usual 5 row mocal, should be ideal for the job.just need to free up funds for braided lines and a decent pre pump filter although im wondering is there any reason i couldn't use a plastic in line petrol filter as i have a few knocking about.
