Its been years since I was on the forum mainly having put old girl away and forgotten while life happens. I digress… Decided to get the Corrado out cleaned up, go through some basics and put in for an MOT and she failed on both headlights. They are not projecting correctly and are more like spot lights. Having said this it is the only thing she failed on. I have been reading lots of posts about aftermarket headlights like In Pro or Spyder but if I do find a supplier they just say LHD/RHT only. VW have none In stock any where ( not surprising ) VW Heritage may have a n/S lens. I'm sure its the reflectors that have gone. I need help in either having the O.E units refurbished or finding a aftermarket pair for UK Roads. Corrado 16v 1990 Thanks for any help.

Hi all Been a while since I was last on here but I have questions and knew this is the place to ask. My corrado now has audi engine (Block and head 3A) KR Inlet cam, mk3 manifold , injectors, throttle body plus a serpintine and pulley with Alternator from a mk3 8v All run by microsquirt. Everything else is from the original KR 1.8 engine. Does anyone know if their are alternative throttle bodys that fit the mk 3 16v inlet manifold? The 2 wire ISV even after cleaning is noisy and not smooth any more is their a better one on the VW range ? (running at 91Hz in megasquirt) Would any of you recommend that I put a MAF on the car or just stick with IAT ? would it help it run better ? Thanks Vaughn

Hi Everyone Does any know where I could get the ABA crank pulley machined down to fit on the 9A Engine So I can use the golf mk3 serpentine belt setup. It basically needs 5.7mmm removed and a centric ring put in to make sure it is centric on the crank. I live on the IOW and am having difficultly finding a place locally. Thanks Vaughn

Well Its been a while since I have updated this about the Corrado. So here goes. Be Warned this is a long post, Best to grab your self a cup of tea before reading. For the past few years its been sat in the garage slowly being lost under parts and general crap that just got puit in there for the moment(those long term moments). The reason I put it to sleep was she needed a few things doing to her like:- All 4 fuel injectors needed replacing as they had done 155,000+ miles Fuel lines replacing as two was leaking Distributer was getting the dreaded oil in it The whole exhaust system was shot, manifold had snapped bolts so it leaked gases and the rest was in close to dieing as well Rear light electric needed looking at Its large 17/40/205 wheels had seen better days and all 4 tyres needed replacing She was running like crap and on a good day I was only getting 18mpg which was pain full. At this point I was thinking maybe its time to let her sleep permanently as I had to much else going on but I decided to put her in the garage cover her up and forget about her. That was about the end of 2010. Then in 2012 I started to get that Corrado itch again and wrnt out to the garage pulled off the cover and said its time to get you sorted. The pen and pad started to write all the things that needed doing and I started to formulate a plan of attack. first step was to sort the rear light as it was the easiest to do. Yhe fault turned out just to be crud on the connectors so a clean up and all is well but I thought its time to change her lights from red and clear to some thing a little darker. ( which strated me to change other things to make her stance a little meaner ) So I grabbed the O.E rear light clusters and tinted a few shades darker, See Pics Then Lucky for me I found someone selling a custom made SS exhaust from the down pipe onwards for sale locally and he only wanted £50 so I snapped that up straight away ready for when I needed it. This gave me an idea to remove the O.E down pipe and fit one from a ABf motor and get a after market de-cat pipe to make it fit the SS exhaust I had got. Over a few months in scrap yards I found the downpipe and then bought the de-cat pipe off ebay. The whole abf Thing made me thing of the engine and as I had got some quotes in for new injectors and fuel lines and other parts the cost was mounting up so I decided to put the Digifant 3.2 system in the car. So I started to do research on this and found it can be done and a Gentleman who most of you would know Rubjonny was recommedded as being the Guru for abf looms. I connected him about it and he kindle said he would help/guide me when I needed it to make the changes to a ABF loom to run in the Corrado. Knowing I would need an abf engine or parts I started hunting but to many complete abf engine were to far away from where I live (IOW) so the alternative was to retro fit the ABf parts to my existing engine, I knew at this point I would need some custom parts like the Crank senor bracket and wheel, no problem 034 Motorsport do one so thats sorted I'll buy one when I need it. over the next year I started to source the required ABF parts bit at time and as I was in no rush I got most of the parts cheaply. Once I had the bulk of the parts I started to work on the ABF loom it self to strip out the crap I didn't need and keep the things I did from both the corrado orignal loom and the abf to make one new loom. A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO RUBJONNY for helping me and answering so many questions. At first the the wiring diagrams seemed like I was in way over my head but I managed to get through it with his help. When I started the ABf loom I had to strip the engine down and remove the brake servo to remove the existing Engine harness. See the pics for an idea. once I had the loom finished over a few weeks it was time for it to go back into the car. I then started to bolt parts back on the car, first thing was to deal with the exhaust I had got another manifold and had the 6 threads replaced. so I removed the old system and the old downlpipe ( cut the down pipe off ). I then put on the reconditioned manifold and abf down pipe on then bolted up the de-cat pipe and the £50 SS exhaust system on. Then things like the intake manifold and fuel rail got put with the redone engine harness. But this is where I hit he first bump the Fuel pipes fouled the Altenator support bracket so back on the search for a solution and people simply changed the setup for either abf one or the mk3 8v setup. off to the scrappy I went in search and after a few weeks I had a 8v alternator setup all but the Crank pulley. I fitted what I could and continued to get the ABF management and parts in place and ready to go. Second bump arrived thought I had got a ABF ECU that was pre immobolizer but no. Third bump having trouble sourcing a ABF Crank pulley. months have passed and even now I'm still looking. these things seem like gold dust. fourth bump was I had to make up a new top rad hose as the old cylinder head front outlet went in different direction so fabrication come into play and a few cuts of pipe from the scrap heap and a metal connector pipe and that was sorted. At this point I had sorted the rear lights, exhaust removed the CIS fuel sytema and was almost at the point to finishing it to start it but I had a ABF ecu that needed sorting, no crank pulley to drive the Alternator or power steering pump and the fifth bump as I had to change the Crank setup the 034 Bracket now wouldn't work any more. I thought dame it !! so for a few months I left the corrado alone, wondering how am I going to sort this. But I never stopped searching for a solution as I was at a point where I could do the following. 1) source an abf engine or least a block. 2)fit another type of Engine management. 3) break her up and move on. 4)try and make the 034 bracket to work and sort he ABf ecu and sort the crank pulley out. All the options were not going to be cheap. so I got hold of ABF block as it come up local to me but it needed some tlc but at the time it was the only option I had so I bought it. But it seemed at the time to be the best option I choose option 1 and started to clean the block up and make list of parts needed to swap out my 2l 6A engine and fit th ABF block. The list got big as it needed a new clutch, headgasket set, timing belt kit, I already had a spare Cylinder head but it needed new Tappets, the price was shooting up. So I cleaned the ABF block and sat down again and thought with what I'm doing and what I still need to sort like the ecu and the crank pulley and then it had to go the dyno. The cost list was building. So I went down the pub.......... Well I'm in this deep what do I want?? simple a nice easy drive that brings a smile to my face. With all the things I had read on the internet and all the work I had done I decided to not to carry on with abf Engine management install. and Was going MICROSQUIRT route as it could use all the existing parts and would only leave me with having to sort the crank pulley out. I nedeed to use the abf harness and parts so using Rubjonny Tech diagrams of the ABF engine harness and basic testing started to layout the needed pin outs on the ABF harness so I could use the recently installed abf engine harness right up to the ABF ecu plug. I made up a spread sheet wthe the pins matched up between the Microsquirt loom and the ABF loom. I de-soldered the aBF ECU board So I had the plug ready for the adapted I was going to make. I ordered All what I needed from DIYAUTOTUNE and it arrived Friday I have already completed the 98% of the adapter see pics I now at a stage where all that needs doing is the crank pulley, a few senors plugs to be changed and the adapter to be finished and I can see if she starts. then the Tuning startd. I'll update once she starts. well I hope she does... well it is a project car. I have posted some pics.

I'm after a ABF engine it can just be the head and block with crank pulley and fly wheel I'm located on the Isle of wight but will travel to collect. Thanks Vaughn

Ok so I have found that a Aba Crank from an Mk 3 8v can fit a 16v if it is machined down by 5.8mm and a new center ring pressed in to help center it on the crank bolt. Can anyone recommend a machine shop that could do this for me ?

Hi All Im in the middle of changing over the alternator setup on my corrado 16v it has a 6a engine block, I have the water pump and the alternator from a mk3 8v golf so it uses the ribbed belt setup but I I am having trouble finding an ABF Crank pulley. I have found some info that maybe a ABA crank could fit if it is machined down or a 1.8T Crank pulley could fit if I can put a 6mm shim between it and the crank.. Does any one confirm this or even better show me some pics? or even have a ABF crank pulley for sale . Thanks Vaughn

Hi I have a Kr head and exhaust cam but I live on the Isle of wight. so postage would have to by courier. Then head it self does need rebuilding as the oil vlave seals need replacing. it has been sat in my garage for a while but would clean up fine ready to be rebuilt. £50 for both parts plus postage PM me if interested. Also have almost brand new Alternator 65amp V belt type. only done 400miles. £60 KR cylinder Head £30 Needs oil valve seals replacing. 5th injector £5 42mm upper and lower manifold £25 Kr inlet manifold brackets (both) £10 Kr fuel metering Head £20 Metering Head Boot £5 Postage for large heavy items will be £25 and £10 for small light items. Alternatively I live on the IOW and can meet any one at south sea port where the hover craft docks. for £8

Hi people me and mate are looking into Megasquirt, I understand the wiring for the install except I would like to use the existing relays in the car for the fuel pump and to power the ECU. Can some one tell me how they powered their Ms installs? Car is 1990 16v corrado running k-jet (cis)

With time getting less and less is there someone on the forum that would take my k-jet engine loom and abf loom and cut out the unwanted wiring out and make abf loom to plug into my 16v corrado? Hopefully someone can help if not I'll see if Vince at stealth racing will do it for me Thanks Vaughn

Hi Ive started to convert my corrado from using the old k jet system to use the abf engine management but I have hit so many bumps in the road I am now left with a car that has had all the engine parts removed to do with the k jet system and some of the parts fitted for the abf but because of of forces outside of my control I now do not have some important things like the abf engine loom (got an ECu from a 95 mk3 golf ) got a few other things like fuel rail, inlet manifold plus throttle body etc. I am quite capable when it comes to the car but when it comes to converting it i seem to be lacking the confidence. so at this stage I now think holy s**t what have I started. Should I at this stage try and continue with the abf mangement or should I look into Mega-squirt I've seen that there is a mini squirt ecu and loom but I would need help with this as I have no knowledge/confidence of how to in stall it/wire it up even after reading the help me guide on the auto tune website. I live on the Isle of Wight and would like to know if any one can help me? maybe People who have done this conversion. I spoke to vince about 2 months ago about him plugging in the abf loom but that was before everything went tits up. if the car needs to go any where its has to go on a back of a truck. Please help Vaughn

Hi All I've finally getting my ass up and off the floor and converting my corrado to us the ABF engine management. I'm only converting the Engine management as the motor that was in the car was the 1.8 KR lump but this got swapped out 2 years ago for a 2l 6A lump which had all the the KR parts transferred over to it ( this engine at the time had only just past 90,000 miles it's only now done 94,000 miles). So far I've got the following Ecu from a 1995 MK3 golf -- so it shouldn't have the immmoblizer Full ABF engine loom not from the same car--- are the early ecu's compatible to the late loom? can get the loom that the ecu was with originally if not. It is coming from a mk2 golf that was converted to an abf. Fuel rail --- OEM ABF Throttle Body -- OEM ABF Knock Sensor Inlet Manifold Both parts ICV Still to get as far as i think off oand what info i can get the seach on here front coolent flange Coil pack --- not sure if the KR coil will be able to be used? CTS IAT Sensor inlet pipe Fuel regulator --- to control fuel pressure from the pump as it proberly to higher pressure. Crank Sensor LAmba That all I can think off at the mo ( it's 11pm Brain turning off as it;s taken me 20 mins just to type this out). If you can think of anything else i might need please let me know. If remember anything else then I'll add to either of the lists. Thanks Vaughn

Hi All I'm starting to diagnose my starting problem on my valver. So far I have found that the spray pattern is crap so thats not helping. but can some one tell me if the main four injectors should fire/squirt fuel for a second when turning the ignition on before starting the engine? Thanks David so looks like I've got to bet back on the trail of a abf loom then. digfant1 getting harder to come a across in decent condition. Are you still running CIS on your 16v ?

Hi All Quick question -- I've keep finding mk3 Golf's or corrado's with the 2l 8v engines in them so I was wondering would the engine management fit in my Corrado which has CIS fuel management (CE2 fusebox if my memory serves me right)? I only want this to clean up the engine bay. ---- my god am i getting old...? I mean I want MORE POWER YES HUGE AMOUNTS OF POWER enough to move the moon with my Corrado!!!!! ---- I have searched for ADY or 2l 8v or 8v engine but nothing that says if anyone has tried this on the corrado. My 1990 Corrado dash has seen better days, in its past life the center dash has been broken and repaired so many times that now there's now nothing to stick anything back to. Trying to find a mk1 style center dash is proofing difficult. So I was wondering is it possible to put the late spec dash pieces in my early dash? and if so what parts would I need to do this conversion? Thanks Vaughn

Hello Could someone give me an idea of the approx weight of the 1.8 16v engine is ? I only ask as over winter I plan on removing it and doing some work on it. Therefore was going to buy a engine stand to bolt it to but the spec's of the stands say it can hold upto ??? KG. Don't wont to buy one that can't take the weight. Thanks Vaughn
