  1. Cheers fellas, I'll get the screws soaked up at lunchtime ;) Pretty quiet weekend on the VR, I got the sunroof removed and gave it a service, cleaned and re-lubed everything that moved, seems to slide nicely now, not holding my breath on it lasting thou. I imagine it will just snap at some point. The mould and damp had made it to the inside of the sunroof, so as well as a good grease I gave the inside a coat of polish and some sound deadening matts which made a huge difference... it went from a clang to thud - I did the matts the way we used to do them in the body shop... not sure why people seem to coat the whole floor and doors with this stuff.. it was always just used for pannel druming, anyway I can recomend a couple in the sunroof ;) thats all back and fitted, just needs adjusting to close flush again. I got the Mop and the 3M Fast cut out too... paint on the sunroof now looks like the whole car will soon! :D
  2. Yep the plusgas is great. I need to add that to the shopping list, unfortunately I have 5ltrs of Duck Oil donated by the retired nieghbour next door which I've been dispensing into squirty bottles :(
  3. Awww matrix! that sux hugely! - I'm not looking forward to the day mine decides to let go :(
  4. Hi Mark, yeah my radiator support has been completely reclaimed by mother earth unfortunately, I've got a second hand one coming from G60knight hopefully soon ;) - plan is to get that powdercoated or even hot dipped galvanised. Thanks Tom - hopefully the new rad will be here this week, the awkward headlight screww.. is it just an access issue or do I need to bathe it in WD40 for a week prior? - any pointers on the crack pipe?
  5. Ordered.. new Hella rad will be here Monday... any gotchas on thermostats ?
  6. wowser... big price difference... £116 + VAT
  7. ;) Out of interest has anyone bought a radiator from Euro car parts? - they're a lot cheaper than most places, but I don't want to buy a rubbish one of course...
  8. Cheers Jim - sorry for the slow reply, might of had one too many celebration beers last night, which I'm now trying to fend of with alkaseltsa :( Wont you need these for you next Corrado project? :D and she is running smoothly now.
  9. Thanks again to everyone - I'm still walking around with a grin from ear to ear! The info and tips from everyone has indeed been priceless and I'd of still been scratching my head without it, Lillfuzzer for posting the ECU without so much as asking for payment upfront, you rarely get trust like that these days, it's greatly appreciated. Now the hard work begins! ;) gearbox, brakes, suspension, interior........... I might be heading to the pub tonight!
  10. DOX YOU'RE A LEGEND!! I had pot 5 and 1 the wrong way round! she is ROARING! all 6 pots!! :D
  11. Cheers Dox - I'm like a cheshire cat at the moment! So I need to get a rad and thermostat ordered up... maybe a FPR too as I'm not keen on how its hanging together at present...
  12. Gents! I'm the proud owner of a VR5! - She runs... sorta! atleast 4 of the cylinders are operational and it sounds like number 5 kicked in before the petrol ran out.. LOL! Top tips Dox! thank you.. I'm hoping to get back out in a bit. What I've picked up on so far:- The radiator leaks like a siv... to be expected, heater matirx is getting hot/blows warm air and there appears to be no leaks into the car... bottom hoze is staying soft thou... which I'm thinking will be the thermostat? looks an absolute swine to replace too :( Nasty vibrations through the car when you rev it.. added by the miss-fire or worn mounts? Dash is continuously flashing on and off to the point it resets. The hazzard switch is broken and keeps coming on, not 100% sure on the MFA switch ether so two new storks, which may help on the electrical gremlins? Not convinced on the nasty leads I bought from Euro car parts ether... so next stop after Dox's tips is a decent set of leads. Now its dry.. would you lob an injector cleaner in the tank or are they a waste of cash? I guess ether new or sonic cleaning is the way.... Other than that... chuffed to bits! :D
  13. Well I have a miss-fire, some backfires and a VR6 that is really trying to fire! but maybe on 2 cylinders only :( I bled the fuel system again and a lot of air came out... and the fuel preasure regulator had completely siezed in the fuel rail... after eventually getting it out I could see some rust build up inside the rail... I wiped off what I could, but I'm wondering if the same fate has fallen to the injectors too. the FPR looks pretty mangled like it had been rogered in before... and sure enough I had to use P-Grips to get it back in... I dont remember them being that tight? I now need it not to rain and work to go quiet..... do I risk putting the orginal ECU back on?
  14. Do you still do the bonnet foams?
  15. Yep my Mum lives just off Thame road and the cars are already parked at the top of her road, yep been here a few years myself and its definitely changed for the worse, less pubs, less amenities, more houses, Red Lion converted into a house and TWO houses put in the garden! you could shake hands with your nighbour without leaving the house! Council are a bunch of crooks! I think the weather has put pay to the car for the day :(
  16. Indeed... Aylesbury Vale Council is doing their upmost to wreck the village the same way they have Aylesbury.... Thame road is just a Grid lock, I'm glad I don't have to face it in the mornings.
  17. Unfortunately it looks like the roar is off for today... as expected the rain waited for my lunch break, why did I leave Australia FFS! so a grazed knuckle later I have the earth strap off and cleaned up with 180 grit wet and dry paper, hopefully it will brighten up later today....
  18. Cheers Dox - I think I'm going to remove it and thoroughly clean and test it.
  19. Cheers Dox, I've had the body earth strap off and its been cleaned and put back together with serrated/cutting washers, I did look at the engine earth and it seemed pretty secure and a bit of a pig to get to... would you think it needs removing and cleaning too? - I did the possitive feed to the starter too, thats clean.
  20. This turned up today courtesy of Lillfuzzer! - thats the lunch break sorted! if it doesn't rain.... :( Thanks again Lillfuzzer - really appreciate your help ;)
  21. I'll let you know when they arrive if theyre any good ;)
