Thanks Gareth, I just wanted to make sure people didnt think I work for Volkscars, it was not ment to have a go at you in any way as Im sure you understand. I was happy to do the work on your car, you are a really nice chap and I must say a bacon sarny waiting at the door when I arrived was the crowning moment!!! As I said if you want any assistance in the future please give me a shout. Graham

Hi Gareth, Ive only just read this thread, just to make it clear to everyone Im not employed by Volkscars, i have done work for them in the past including the work I carried out on your car. All parts were supplied by them, and any issues about the heater controls or motor should have been delt with by them. unfortunatly this obviously wasnt the case. I was not informed of any further problems and I would have been happy to help you if requested by Volkscars or yourself. Im sorry you have had a bad experience with your car and I would be happy to help you if you require any more assitance in the future. Graham

There fine to work on,the only time ive had to take a vr6 out is to replace the whole engine, you can do the chains etc with it in the car, the only things that can be a pain is the oil cooler, oil filter housing on the front of the engine, they can be a bit of a squeeze to get to. But the chances of them needing work is minimal. The G60 would be easier to work on but theres not much in it

Had a good look round this with you, well worth the money, should make a good daily.

I had a bit of a drama last night, one of the fuel pipes burst on my car! needless to say i had brown trousers when it started to missfire and i smelt petrol!Luckily it didnt ignite and there was no damage. It was one of the pipes that attaches to the fuel rail and runs across the side of the rocker cover on a vr6, It might be worth checking yours just incase. And Im gonna invest in a fire extinguisher ASAP! Graham

Hi mate here goes, MK2's are good solid cars but getting on a bit, check for rust on wings, floor etc. Cambelts are due at 80k on most models. PAS is a must and is only standard on late 16v's theres plenty of 8v's with it youve just gotta find one. 8 or 16v? totally up to you they both have thier plus points just try a few and see what you think. Later cars have a better spec usually, also the wiring was updated from 90 on. MK2's suffer badly with seized calipers especially the rears. Hope that helps! Graham

Itll either be the release bearing or the clutch pressure plate breaking up, either way the box will have to come out to investigate.

Good point TT wheels are 5X100 so you might not be able to get adapters, as herisites said a conversion would be the other route to go
